I see a lot of comments saying they can’t get them to step up. I’ve been trying to do that for 5 months, and today I’ve just got one to put one foot on me. Don’t give up guys, this requires a lot of patience good luck🙏❤️
Thanks TheGoldenDorito
Bruh my birds already got there 1 foot on me and it hasn't even been 2 days-💀
@@MythicartsyYTall birds are different, some are more tame and social than others. Some could have been abused, so not all will be as willing to step up as soon as some will.
@@Mars-kj5iu yup Ik! :) that comment was long ago sadly the bird I was talking about died,,
@@MythicartsyYT Aw! Sorry for ur loss
I was watching this while taming my lovebird, and he started going crazy and tweeting because it heard your bird. :) rip my ears

Sadly my love bird flew to the sky and I’m gratefull I still have 1 thanks for the vid
To the commenters having problems. You have to build trust before even trying this. Even putting your hands near the cage can be stepping over his boundaries, learn your bird and how he warns, (mine does a quick DE-DE-DE-DE). You also have to spend time with the bird, not just 10 minutes a day. Maybe you TRAIN him 10 minutes a day but you should spend hours together in my oppinion. Also, if he has all he needs he will not be THAT interested in taking chances. My trick is to fill half a bowl, then mid day try to train with him and after training i pour rest of the food in his bowl. It keeps him keen to do tricks for snacks(in my case Spray Millet), snacks is a MUST, they need to associate something nice happening if they follow commands. Listen to your bird, spend time with him and approach with much care. Ive had mine for two weeks and he is already very much close to doing step ups and step downs 100%. Also, i have a single bird, im not a expert but i would think having two birds would make the process of training MUCH harder. I haven't clipped his wings and im pretty sure i won't do that, my apartment is ok large. Have a clicker or at least associate words with actions, UP, DOWN, HERE, is my training, when he understands that he is ready to try outside the cage. Don't let your bird freely leave his cage, he may become terratorial in YOUR living space. Also, nibbling might be fun, but it can lead to biting or bratty behaviour. Good luck!
I hand feed my lovebirds sunflower seeds and one day my female got curious and started squishing my finger in her beak 😂 bless
Dis it hurt cause I'm so scared mine with bite me and I'm gonna cry lol her beak looks so sharo
@@mindyhyler8188 Only a little, but tell your bird "Ouch!" when they put the slightest too much pressure on, then leave the room. Birds tell other birds off too, you know?
@@Fluffadoodle wow hahaha I do not know how you could even read my comment 😂
My phone likes to type for me.
I tried it this morning and it went better than I thought it would so that's great.
Thank you
@@mindyhyler8188 I'm happy it went well! If you would like to know more about the right ways to train birds etc. I totally recommend checking out a channel called wingsnpaws
how early would you suggest starting training? i have an 8 week old love bird, is that too soon?
I didn't even have to train my Violin (aka my parrot) to step on my finger. He did it all on his own. Even the first time I tried it, he did it with no signs of fear or reticence. I would just put my finger next to his legs and he would just climb on it. I guess he trusts me that much. Besides, I never keep him locked up in his cage. He's free to fly around my room, as he pleases, since his cage is always open. He only goes there to eat or drink water. Plenty of times, he fell asleep on my shoulder. He has this cute little habit, of flying on my chest and hiding under my chin, whenever I lie down.😆 He's the best, amusing little friend, anyone could wish for. 🥰
My birds heard your birds and started tweeting 🥺❤️

Hi I just wanted to say, I watched this video and I tried what you said and it worked perfectly! My bird mango isn't stepping on my hand yet, but she is sitting on the perch NEXT to my finger. I'm going to practice with her a bit more. Thanks for helping!
1:29 "your bird should be comfortable with your hand being around it" // me: yeah not mine! Maybe sometime in the future man
You should just do stuff besides your bird and put your hand in the cage daily until it doesn't mind being close to it
@@oshinvishwakarma5105 we're on a 'i can touch you but you can't touch me' situation :D

FINALLY somebody makes a video about taming lovebirds i ligit couldn't find one anywhere and my lovebird is having trouble learning this trick but this rlly helped thanks
Lol
I’ve tried everything to make my parakeet step up but it won’t :( it just stays there when I stay step up... I just wanna be its friend
Vanessa Marie you should try holding a treat in your hand and put your finger in front of the treat so he’ll have to get the treat by stepping up. Worked for me. Also, move slow don’t do anything if he bites.
@@pigeonincognito Yes, your method works, its Just that my Bird did It so fast that It scared me 😂, FORTUNATELY he still trusts me and i am trying to not get scared fisically and mentally this time 😂
Ayat Imouriguen any other tips my bird is comfortable when I put my hand in his cage but won't step up and he eats from my hand
@@kwelop5764 Just be patient, my budgie used to do that too, insert your hand really slowly , if he flies away, it is probably because he is still a Little bit scared, everyday you have to hand feed him until he realizes that your hand will not hurt him, but remember, if you force your budgie to step up you'll lose trust.
The video that helped me the most is titled "The best taming video ever part 1" or something like that.
Ayat Imouriguen I will try that hand feeding should I use his daily seeds but after that how would I come up on my finger
Perfect i love it.. following you here from phillipines!

I just got a pair of Lovebirds but I have no idea how they have been treated before. They wont go anywhere near my hand and panic fluttering around the cage. I understand they are about a year old. I wonder if its easier to separate them but I tried it for a short time and they called each other from from the other room and still would not settle. I also wonder if I should remove most of the perches ? Any advice ?
Great start

My lovie seems relatively comfortable around my hand, she runs around them all the time and will eat treats I'm holding. She's territorial of her cage though. She has stepped up with a treat once but never since.
Ive had her almost 2 months, when I got her she was 8m old and had never been taught to step to and was terrified of hands. Any advice???
My lovebird rio comes on my shoulder but doesnt leave the room with me, bites holes in my shirt, and is terrified of my hand lol.
Thank you very much!!!! = ) your video helps a lot.And also you have a cute bird!!!! My bird is in step 3 or it might be step 4.you have an awesome bird!!!! I will subscribe, cute bird btw=bye the way.
I’ve had my 2 lovebirds for a month now and they get on a perch and accept treats from my hand directly but I haven’t tried moving onto my hand because no matter how close a finger gets, they lunge at it and bite. It’s like my hands a toy for them 😓 they both follow it with their eyes and look to nibble it
i love it man your videos r too cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much 😊 my brid can step up now i am so happy
how long does this normally take? cause I dont wanna force the bird to step up but hes also little, he never bites and is super nice and chill with me being around but will not step up, he does not fly away or anything he just does not want to. it's been a few days now is this normal?
This worked so well for me! Thankyou@
my lovebird only sees the millet and not what i’m trying to make her do. if she sees millet, she goes for it, but if there’s a finger in the way, she’ll bite me until my finger goes away. i do this alot and she only bites my finger, she doesnt realize that im trying to get her to step up
Exactly with mine I try doing it and I don't know why it hates me it had a good owner before but the owner didn't want it anymore it's been a month and it's only learned to bite the frick out of someone if you come close
OooO ty!
One of my birds tried to eat the perch. The other one stays on for a while. I actually don’t interact with them much but I’ve had them for a while. One of them jumped on my finger in the first ten minutes
Same l have two and one of them jumped on my arm but l got scared,l take them out of the cage even tho they don't step up yet
I love my pet bird so when it wakes up I will train it
Very helpful. We even learned that we have the same cage and how to prop the door open. Thanks.

Omg thanks so much
My love bird do steps on the stick but when i approach my finger towards it, he bites me so what should i do

Hello I have a sunconure.. I do give his food with my finger.. but when I want him to get on my finger he runs away and tried to hide.. Don't understand why. Should I give him treat even thought he doesn't get on my finger?
Thanks for the video!!
my love bird already knows target when i first bought him and he is very good at flying i just don't want to clip his wings
don't stick your hand in the bird's cage or push your hand into it's chest. lure it with a treat to step up onto your finger. if it's not stepping up, then try using a perch. if it's running away then IT'S NOT READY YET. make it used to your hand and the perch so it could be a positive experience for both of you.
I bet a bird thinks, “ hand is god. hand give treat.
Ok I know I'm late but when I tried using a perch to get them to step they were just scared to DEATH. I tried it over and over but it wouldn't work. So I stopped and thought what else I could do. Then I thought of this: since I have two budgies they both like to copy eachother so I thought that if I played the part where you had the budgie to step up, they would copy. And surprise, surprise! It worked! Now they are fine with stepping up!
Hey, how long does it take to tame an unclipped lovebird, he takes food from me and blinks and all in front of me but doesnt step up
The Parrot Place can you help me? I have two Mavericks, I place the stick after they take the treat from my hand and then they just bite the stick..?
What is the maximum time of taming process . Years or just months or weeks plssss answers back.
it depends on your bird. if your burd is aggresive then it will take you 3-5 months and if it is calm it will take you two weeks to 1 month
Oh and I’m the boy is like always com but his female has gonna get jelly😋😂💕

Will this work on adopted birds 2? I have my cockatiel for 3 weeks now, he eats seeds from my hand through the cage. Hes around 1 or 2 years. He just panicks a second I put my hand inside
Put your hand inside the cage SLOWLY, because It Is "impossible" that your cockatiel eats only outside of the cage, for a Bird the cage Is like "invisible".
Plus be sure you are in a calm room, It has to be only you, and your Bird
What do you do when you're dog barking at your love bird when trying to tame your bird. Melanie.?
Separate your dog from your bird; either take the dog into another room or take the bird into a different room
