Shaw et al. show that both monoclonal antibodies used in the Uman Neurofilament-LightÔ and related biomarker assays bind epitopes within the neurofilament light chain hidden in healthy neurons but exposed on neurodegeneration. They then show that a panel of novel Uman type antibodies are useful immunocytochemical markers of neurodegeneration.
