I started my working life in the 80's, and this type of behaviour was almost the accepted norm. As another man has written in the comments here - when you marry, have a daughter and she starts her own working life, this will certainly focus a father's mind on what can happen in the workplace. And bravo to the women and men who call out this sexual bullying and harassment.
I'm 66 years old now but I had to put up with this appalling behaviour from some men all of my teen and young adult life. I am glad that not all men behave like this but it can not be tollarated any more and the good guys need to call it out. We'll done ladies for your bravery as it is still being minimised
Things are definitely improving but as long as people have power over others this will always happen unfortunately. I used to have older women pinching my arse when I was a teen and early twenties. They didn't seem to see anything wrong with their behaviour. One of them kept doing it in a major supermarket when I was working weekends and the other in a call centre. The other women laughed. Bully and repulsive behaviour is not a gender specific one. Along with cowardice of the others who enabled it. Also I have been bullied by both male and females. I have noticed it was when I worked with majority of fellow Brits never had any issues with non Brits I have worked with.
Its time men need to start supporting women in the work place and calling this out. I am a 40 year old man and have seen this go on all my working life. I am ashamed to say i never said anything. Growing up and having a wife and daughters brings this into full focus for me. She is incredibly brave, you can see how difficult it is for her.
It’s infuriating when men only grow a pair of balls when they get married & have kids. Why do women only exist when you get married? Do you not have a conscience before?
Very heartening to hear. We all need to call out behaviour like this. Like you, l've seen it in the workplace. I've also experienced it. I understand how difficult it is to speak out, especially if you're young or relatively junior in the work heirarchy. But we must, to make it clear this kind of behaviour is unacceptable.
Thanks for saying this. I understood what she meant about "laughing things off" or trying to work through it. I would say that we should try not to allow this behaviour to continue, and no job is worth staying for.
I take everything back that I might have said and thought about Wallace vs his complainants. I’ve tried to find balance from the little I’ve learned but this is shocking. He’s an abuser and an all round wrong one. The BBC is also once again in the dock over the inappropriate behaviour of it’s ‘stars’. Very sad. It was very brave if this lady to go public.
Apart from the unnecessary and unfair bbc bashing, I agree. Masterchef is produced by a separate company and bbc only commissions it. They have very little to do with it other than putting it on their channel.
i think its right for us to be sceptical and not jump to conclusions and witch hunts when rumours and allegations start to surface until we hear proper accounts like this. reserving judgement and keeping a balanced mind on the issue at first is probably the right way to approach these things.
@@stuartd9741how long are you, as a man, going to continue defending a man accused of sexual harrassment, whilst essentially calling his female victims liars? You have no idea how much courage it takes to speak up about this - it's 21 years since my experience of sexual harrassment in the workplace and I still struggle to talk about it. But, like this lady, I always promised myself that if anyone else made an accusation, I would force myself to go public. I feel a coward saying this but, due to who my harrasser was, I had a huge amount to lose if I spoke up. I was very young and he is now old and hopefully incapable. I did, however, warn my replacement and she and I then warned her replacement.
He’s always struck me as a creep. I’m unsurprised by the allegations. I’m glad this woman has spoken out, but I’m tired to keep hearing this crap. How dare anyone think they can use their power to humiliate and upset others who just want to work. F you, Wallace. I hope you get your justice.
He does not need help. Like psychological help? He's not ill he's just a misogynistic idiot. He needs to listen to what people are saying about his behaviour and change his ways.
Women are coming forward as groups because that’s the only way we have any power over the sexual harassment. we’ve been ignored for so long, that coming forward as a single voice, and being made the victim again, wasn’t an option. My sexual harassment, at the hands of mature men, started as a child of 6, peaked from the age of 12- 35, then settled into the occasional assault now that I’m pushing 60. It disgusts me and I’m sick of being treated like we’re just making a fuss about nothing, making it up, or are too serious and expected to laugh it off.
@@davey8914thank you! Seeing men on here supporting us female victims is heartening, especially when we have a ludicrous 'man' like @stuartd9741 defending, minimising, and negating Wallace's behaviour whilst suggesting that his accusers are lying.

Sometimes eating and keeping the heat on is more important than our own dignity, but should our dignity and mental wellbeing be the price we must pay to work? No.
Yea.. If she quit, people would want to know why, before they hired her and if she was afraid of being sued, getting the reputation of a tittletattle, or bitter over something else and trying to ruin his reputation, she would have to lie and then look silly later, when it all comes out.

It's deeply traumatising, and combined with a need to survive financially and asymmetry in power - women often find themselves in a no-win situation, and potentially a career-ending one. Be grateful that you don't understand why they struggled to speak out sooner, it means your lucky enough never to have been in a situation like this. That whole encounter at the flat was premeditated by Wallace. You don’t leave your trousers in the room where you know a guest will sit and wait, or meeting will take place. That’s - another level to this whole thing completely.
I had an experience so similar - and, as you say, premeditated - so much so that it made me physically shake when she shared that story. Anyone dismissing that as 'banter' doesn't understand the fear, the power dynamic, or the coercive control involved.
@Alex-mj5dv yes. That's changed my mind severely. I argue on my channel that he's not been charged or convicted of anything and even then personal misdemeanors shouldn't cost you a career if a court punishes you. But the trousers thing REALLY triggers me as that's the sort of predator behaviour my abusive Narc2 excelled in.
I’m 66 and retired from Healthcare where I worked for most of my adult life. I worked with both male and female colleagues and there was banter which happens in most workplaces but if anyone crossed a boundary they were told face to face to stop , end of problem. However, I’m aware of one or two who , like Gregg Wallace, in fairly high positions, thought they were untouchable, and lost their job as a result. Gregg Wallace’s behaviour is on another level and cannot be described as “ banter “ , he quite frankly is a sick individual, and once again the BBC should be held accountable for allowing him to continue working for them when they were made aware of his behaviour. Never got why Greg Wallace was given so much air time. A person who played a caricature of himself. Everything he did was exaggerated. As for the lady on Newsnight this was a very brave thing to do.
I've heard a few people explain that the BBC lacks presenters with a "working class voice" (not my choice of words) and Wallace ticked that box. That should *not* be an excuse for keeping him on, though. He was enabled by Banijay/ BBC.
As she said, she was reliant on the income, she was under pressure to meet a tight deadline, and to process what was normalised would have been like trying to understand being gaslit. You wonder “am I just being silly?” Because as a woman, we quite often don’t trust ourselves. We’re “too hormonal” or were “crazy”. By “just leaving” as you say, she would’ve also let him win. So she powered on through. Got the job done, didn’t get killed by the perv, and got the money she needed at the time.
Can I just say something about Katie Hopkins she made the most vile comment about elderly people taking up room in hospitals when they are going to die anyway I feel nothing but distain for her
What worries me is some "ordinary people" still walk round thinking it's ok to treat others like this. We need to deal with them next. The bullying boss, family member, classmate or partner.
Sadly that's very common. I was lucky to only have one experience of it at work, but that was severe and prolonged. The only reason I didn't suffer more was because I worked in a predominantly female career.
@loopertrooper1617 to being sexually harassed? Maybe if u feel like saying something that's disrespectful and simple-minded to a stranger you know nothing about, just keep it to yourself?
Mucho respect for this woman. Very brave. I believe her 100%. It's clear that yet again the BBC do not live up their charter when it comes to their male talent. Master Chef staff must know about this man's odious predatory behaviour. Thank you S. D for work in this matter.
Im sure that Wallace when he made his first response about 13 celebrities making accusations had probably forgotten 99% of the incidents that have or will come out. As for the people defending him from the start, the excuses were about sexual innuendos and crass jokes. It's obviously a lot more than just that. But even then, when people make jokes or comments that are designed to make another person uncomfortable (male or female), it's basically a kind of soft bullying. I've seen it and experienced it myself in workplaces and it's completely unwanted and unnecessary.
Absolutely🤬. It’s about power and intimidation. People like Wallace (male or female) have zero empathy and emotional maturity. They’ll never look at themselves and dismiss / minimise / gaslight forever. And don’t even get me started on lawyers.
I applaud her for speaking out. The invalidating of women speaking out against Greg Wallace across social media has been absolutely disgraceful. Do we REALLY still need to reiterate that sexual harrassrnt in the work place is NOT acceptable. Hear hear. It's a total failure of imagination on the part of some men. They just need to pick a young woman in their family and imagine her finding herself in that situation... she goes to work and a man on whom she depends to earn a buck exposes himself unprovoked. Still happy it's 'just banter'?

lol she wouldn’t know the truth if it slapped her on the face with a Chanel handbag!
@@cal401 My comment isn't about body language, rather it's about the definition of the words.
She could have left..
She didn't need to tolerate this level of abuse for a pay check.
You can tell she's telling the truth, and he denied it. He is vile and needs locking up. Sorry this happened to you, not all men are like that.
This man is truly disgusting
What about all the sexual innuendos on loose women, especially that Nolan one aimed at men, which always gets a laugh , if a man said comments like she does would be branded the same as Wallace
@@johnou.k.3780Don't imagine she's drop a towel in front of a young man and make lewd suggestions. However, I completely agree some women are as bad with their unacceptable comments about men.
@@johnou.k.3780they're wrong too. But they're comments between women, made publicly: that isn't the same as a man making direct sexual comments, and applying pressure on a much younger woman to have sex with him, when in private, without witnesses.
So, he's denied it all. He's also proceeded to get all defensive saying it's only a few middle class women out of the thousands he's met, saying that it was mainly a bit of banter. Whether he's convicted or not, he's made someone feel uncomfortable and abused the fame and power he has, for what? To try and get laid? I've seen this kind of behaviour all too many times and even I've tried my luck in my youth, but never to this extent or with the power this guy has. I feel shameful that some men do this, but it can't be ignored. I think the BBC are right to pull these people out and to give a platform to tell her story
Indecent esposure , NDA shouldn't apply

He is finished now this has come out. Brave lady
hurrah!!! never liked him anyway
My heart goes out to this lady. Unfortunately this has happened 5 too many times to women in work situations who need to make a living. This poor lady was just trying to house, feed&clothe her child as a single mother and then Gregg Cretin Wallace comes along...charming!🤮
His poor wife! She must have a lot of repulsive behaviour to put up with.
It’s possible she could be blind to it, and or has normalised the behaviour. From experience, I know that Men like this will date someone they can easily manipulate.
He has a knack for picking much younger ones who don’t yet have the experience to understand how revolting and disrespectful his behaviours are. I feel really sorry for them all.
Which one, he's on his 4th?
No. It's likely she has never seen or experienced it. I was with a guy like this and had no idea what he was doing and saying to women in his workplace , online and in AA.
In the words of jimmy saville i don’t like women, women know too much, I like girls.
So proud of her for speaking out. As a woman who's dealt with this kind of behaviour all my life, I'm really hoping that the tide is turning now and we are changing our cultural mindset that women should know how to deal with this and just laugh it off.
So sorry this gentle woman experienced this. It is disgusting, it's way beyond banter and I sincerely hope there aren't even worse allegations coming, for everyone's sake.
What she describes is sexual harassment, nothing less.
As for the towel business, that was a tactic used by a H. Weinstein. I shuddered when she described that.
Yep, used by my harrasser too.
I was sexually harassed and assaulted on 3 occasions aged 14 to 17. 3 different men. Proper grown men.
I never reported it or even told my parents because i felt so ashamed and it was ACCEPTABLE at that time.
Late 80s early 90s.
(I'm 48)
To the comments who are victim blaming. Don’t.
Yes, they're enablers, and equally at fault, in my opinion. He wouldn't have gotten away with this for so long without ignorant people defending this kind of behaviour.
She could've left David.
No one should have to tolerate this type of abuse just for a paycheck..
Don't be ridiculous @@stuartd9741

No not at all.
It's appalling behaviour.
..
I am Quite surprised the accused would behave in that manner,
being of a high public profile..
..
No doubt an NDA perhaps led the accused to believe he had legal protection from such behaviour?
..
Still appalling, very difficult to be objective in ones job/position in that type of work environment.
A lot of people live in a council flat, this was said as if it's a disgrace
Wow what a despicable twisted ghoul ...
Leave her alone
Hate to say it but she says she was waiting for this to happen. But she didn't come forward. She waited other women to do the hard job, now she says she's compelled sprak out because other women did it easier for her. If she had said something before, this wouldn't have lasted so long.
I'm a 60yr old woman and have many experiences of direct sexual harassment in the workplace. When you call it out you are fired. You move on and try to forget it. I've brought my daughter up to never accept it. To have a zero tolerance attitude towards disgusting male behaviours. We talk openly and candidly......this is the only way to progress, move forward and eliminate sexism in all its forms. His poor little poor me "apology" revealed his hatred of women. I always sensed his true character ...women unfortunately have to have their radar permanently switched on. Admire and support fully this brave woman.
Awful to listen to, let alone experience. Masterchef needs to be cancelled completely. The co-hosts, management, and production company are all tainted by this. They need to give public statements to explain how they could work in such close proximity to him.
OMG ! The bloke is a complete weirdo!
Horrid vile man you were warned once should NOT need to be told again. Well done to that lady speaking out ❤
good on her. well done.
He did declare war on those middle class women of a 'certain age' lol
Surely the BBC has some responsibility here yet it broadcasts this poor lady's experience. I know Masterchef is produced by a production company but BBC has ultimate responsibility. It just confuses me what the BBC's role is here.
We're only getting one side of the story?
@@stuartd9741aww look there you are again, doubting the victim. We have heard his side of the story! He's spouted off repeatedly on Instagram, and paid his lawyers huge sums to issue denials. Weird how he's not paying them to sue his victims for libel though...
I agree. I object to people minimising the bbc role in this. They screened it, promoted it, and have featured him on many other programmes.
What a desperate disgusting little man
The continual harassment of this lady is the ‘bullying’ issue here. Ok, one mislaid comment to someone can be simply a clumsy attempt at flirting, but repeating this behaviour with one individual, being totally aware you are making them miserable is simply playing a ‘power game’.
It shows he simply hates women & constantly seeks to ‘put them in their place’.
Quite!
Well, thats put me off Eton mess for a while 😒
Me too
I met him once, he was so drunk on alcohol and himself - its was a bit sad. He also asked someone I know how he should brand himself because is aged out of the BBC rota.
My daughter has just moved in a flat at the weekend had a sofa delivered on tues . The delivery guy in his 30s asking if my daughter lived alone your jumpers nice love the dimples on her beautiful cheeks . Shes 25 and felt really uncomfortable. I said you have no dimples she said i know,i said straight I away contact the delivery company and put a complaint in because to me its beyond just delivering a sofa . I work with the public and theres no need for this kind of small talk 😒
Disgusting creep, and he knows her address.
Once upon a time, people could give compliments to someone.
..
But that's not allowed now?
.
Yes, perhaps by the sound of it the compliments were handled a bit clumsily.
..
It depends on the intent.
Not every single guy is a creep you know.
I agree with you Elaine... it's completely inappropriate. No wonder she felt uncomfortable, particularly asking if she lived alo e and commenting on her physical appearance!
I had a plumber fit one bathroom radiator once when I lived alone, he arrived at 9am and tried to stay at my house until gone 9pm... and went in my bedroom without asking. I caught him out but otherwise wouldn't have admitted it. Because he just wouldn't leave no matter how many times I asked how much longer he'd be, in the end, I had to pop round to fetch my male neighbour. I apologise for my extreme language but this Gregg Wallace fella is a real jerk
Those defending him didn’t realise that his “jokes” were all part of the same pattern of behaviour. I wouldn’t be surprised if he has also duped some women in the same way, so they think he’s just being cheeky when he’s actually being creepy.
When asked for examples she runs out of lies in seconds and her eyes and body language suggest she is lying as well 😂
This is a very brave woman, totally convincing in her account. Her daughters are very lucky to have her and should be proud of their mum.
Agreed. And thank you. It's good to see men supporting the victims and speaking out against Wallace.
