I'm building one of these at the moment, and there is a few soft joints, namely the hip/thigh which just barely support the weight of the leg, and the shoulders which are a bit squishy because of the polycap. I feel like it needed a longer peg, or a plastic-on-plastic joint. Really great kit though. A big mutha.
So, now that you both a 1/100 MG kit from CCA in 2012 (Nu) and 2013 (Geara), how do you think the older kits actually stand up, scale wise. Nu's head height was supposed to be 22m, Geara Doga... 20m (overall) and the massive Sazabi is 23m at the head... so... do you think the old 2000 MSN-04 is actually standing up to proper size scale, now that you have newer, more advanced kits to compare it to? One more thing... would you prefer those cables or the ones on the Zaku 2.0 with springs?
Do you think that that open hand could be used to recreate that scene from the movie where the jegan is reaching for the geara doga? You know if we ever get a mg jegan.
I've been itching to buy a new MG for a while now, and I'm currently debating on getting this one or MG Strike Freedom. I like the look strike freedom had with the dragoons and whatnot but this looks like such a solid kit that doesn't require a stand. What would your opinion be jabman on selecting between the two?
I'd actually prefer an MG Angelo Sauper Geara Zulu. That big ass cannon and the backpack on the HG was really cool. I hope they make that. That being said, I've been waiting for the Geara Doga for a looong time now. Time to do some WW2 German armor versions!
Well. Mine looks pretty damn good. The rubber is a little problematic but I did not need to glue it down. Had a crappy LED so not well lit unlike my Nu ver ka and Sazabi ver ka. For me this kit was pretty good as the only thing I can knock it for is some proportion problems and weight.
Thanks for the video. I was wishing that this would take over kit of the year from Jesta. I expect Geara will show up at my house any day now. It will be my first MG and I'm really looking forward to it. I do plan on painting it. Where do you get your red LEDs from? JB
Size wise how's he compare to sinanju and sazabi? I have sazabi ver ka., Sinanju animation ver. And sinanju a Stein nt. I don't do zeon suits but the bigger zeon suits I'm loving.
HI i have been building 1/35 scale WW2 and modern armor kits for over 30+ years. and Warhammer 40k armor and figures for competitions for 10+ years . and a few S.F.3.D kits from the 80's .. im looking for something new .. I was thinking of picking up a few gundam kits and repainting in a WW2 camo with weathering and battle damage .. in adition i would like test out a few as airbrushes candy finishes .. are there any kits you could recommend .. the more panel lines and detail the better . .. or is this a sin of some kind in the gundam community . thx .
no sin what so ever, in fact its quite common, this would work, gundam ez8, gouf custom, gundam ground type, there a lot of kits that work with a old school military look. I even did on a while back look up my review of my gundam ground type custom
there are no sins here, gunpla is freedom and all. really, you have no idea of the things the comunity produces. it goes from alien stile lovecraftian god machine to hello kitty with rocket launchers and no one bats an eye. also the crushing majority of " just building the model but going overkill on adding details
This thing looks like a damn linebacker. If there was such thing as the GFL ( Gundam Football League) this guy would definitely be signed to a team lol.
I love this kit. The only problem is the groin joint on this kit is so weak with very short little pegs. The legs always sag. I imagine after couple of poses, they will swing like pendulums. I much prefer the Sinanju or the Nu Ver. Ka's groins more.
Don't know what you're talkin' about when you say the skirts don't move. Front skirts can swing up like 90 degrees, enough for a decent kneeling pose. This is slightly hampered by the placement of the hip block, and you got to swing the skirt forward a bit before swinging it up to get it to clear the hip block - but, yeah, skirts totally move. Back skirt moves a little, too, but it's kind of useless. :)
Sazabi Ver.Ka will likely have fully articulated hands but in Zeon Style. Bandai wont want to give the impression that Sazabi is not important enough for hands that can rival the Nu's.
Did you know that you can rotate the mono eye side to side from inside the helmet? (There's a little "nub" which you can pinch and rotate) Geara Doga can now look at different angles instead of just the middle without moving its head :D
@@Gunpla_shrimp yeah I know, I got one of these and I know it's standard. I was talking about the rezin schneider version of this kit. Christ, I made that comment 7 years ago 😅
Simply because we never had a 1.0 of this kit before. Or, how about if someone asks about 3.0 Doga, that uses some of the mechanics a new Rx-78-2 uses? It'll still be a "1.0" Doga, not a 3.0. :) Or, for that matter, just a Doga. On the other hand, what does a frame have to have to be called a 2.0?
How can he tell if its 2.0 if the kit never had a 1.0? All modern kits have frames with the same quality as a 2.0. They just dont have to put "2.0" on the box.
I love this kit....by far the most manacing looking GRUNT UNIT!
I really want bandai to make a geara zulu
Agree
geara zulu ..y they just make 1/144...
well i got good news
@@npc6817 u wot m8?
I second that..
that beam saber would make an amazing accessory for a custom build, what a beautiful blade. I think I would buy the kit just for the beam saber alone.
Well this kit grew on me with its promotional pictures that I have been seeing
Thanks for the review as always :)
From all Neon-Zeon grunt suits Geara Doga is my favorite and it helps that this kit comes with some many great accessories.

Does it come with a command antenna? The head looks like it has the notch for it
Yes it does.
Hey jabman do you happen to remember what kind of glue you used for the rubber cables?
Great review as always man! I am obsessing over the beam saber blade on this thing. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the 3.0 Gundam!
I just got this kit. Definitely not sticking with cartoon accuracy and will likely kit nash with weapon packs. Good vid!
I just finished this model 😍 and your review is spot on
This unit goes so hard. I really loved posing it for photos, very photogenic model lmao.

Do you get a commander fin? Also they should make a Rezin Snider Master Grade. Didn't care for the pilot, but it's a darn cool looking Geara Doga.
great kit! were did you get the light up eye and were how much the eye cost? i think ill get this kit. looks like alot of fun!

That thing reminds me of a linebacker!
Danny McBee check out the 1/144 zaku f2000
if you were fighting in char's counterattack would you pilot the Geara Doga or jegan
Would this kit in particular make for a good first MG?
I wanna do a master grade, only done 1/44 kits before what kits should I start off with ? not looking for paint and glue mind you

About a head smaller than the sinanju or 20cm
What he said
Jabman, are you getting the HGUC Zogok and the december release Sazabi ver.ka?
Jabman, ever thought of doing a Full Frontal custom of this kit?
He jabman I have a question who should I get mg strike noir or mg infinite justice or mg epyon or 00 quanta

The original Gundam anime has some similarities to WW2...
HEINZUNIMOG You can also look at Zaku"s (basically any)

That is one beautiful beam saber.
Do this kit come with commander antena?
How about we get a 1.0 Jegan first?
Damn.. I really wanted to buy two and put two spiked shoulder pads on one guy. unfortunately, it looks asymmetrical...
They *will* be making a Rezin Schnyder Geara Doga.
Released through the Bandai Online shop (Japan only) :(
Is this larger than MG Sinanju O.V.A.?

PrimusVsUnicron from what I know the unicorn version has there's cuffs on it's wrist

can the panzerfaust fit into the hand?

I have the Full Frontal custom for this

It seems like the audio is about 1-2 seconds out of sync, not that it really matters much.
how do i use the stickers?
Haven't you put the shoulder armour on the wrong arms, as the thrusters should be on the back?
No, he did it the right way. . . This is a space suit, the thrusters on the front are for balance and better maneuverability.
Bandai Online Exclusive, Shame but I'll think I'll pick one up. loved this kit though. Built mine with the commanders fin, just prefer it

hey Jabman....you gonna get another of these for a custom like you did the Gelgoog?

Hey Jabman. I heard that RX-78 ver3.0. Can you do a review for that before I buy it?
I know all that. I was asking Gerry-ko in an attempt to make him realise the fault in his question.
How can he tell if its 2.0 if the kit never had a 1.0?
All modern kits have frames with the same quality as a 2.0. They just dont have to put "2.0" on the box.
Why didn't you just give the pipes a wash instead of lining them?
# Sturm Faust
I'm going to put number 13 on the shield since these grunt pilots have such bad luck.
light up mono eyes are just cool. *shrug*
we need a 2.0 jegan
@@Gunpla_shrimp there is now hahah holy crap dude this comment was 7 years ago haha

*spit take* Gera Doga?! Sorry, when did this show up? I guess I really HAVE been behind with Gunpla since I've become a general Super Robot fanatic...
