To this day this is still a classic. The studio version is so much better than the performance. I used to listen to this on the bus every morning in 9th grade lol. So many memories with this song.

I’ve never even heard of this crap until it came up with Elton’s. So, no, it did not put it on the radar, nor did it improve it. Listen to Adam Lambert’s Ring of Fire, that’s how a cover should be done.

The original version has a more classic grand piano and musical feel with all the instrumental inputs, whereas this version is much more sultry and modern soul with less focus on the instrumentals. Personally, I prefer Elton's style more, although both the cover and the original are great.
