It is hard to believe that a human being can sing like this - it’s angelic! If I were a vocalist and heard this I’d hang it up and find something else to do…
+fsugirl329 Frijid pink is way more... i don't know, but, i'm happy when their version start, in this one, i was just like : "god, she has a voice" but it doesn't touch me as deep as frijid pink does
Heavy Young Heathens is my personaly favorite but that doesn't take away from what she's doing here. Truly talented. Surprised I've never heard of her before.
My wife and I quite watching after that year. Haley was by far the best. Should have went on to a dynamic blues career. Her version of "The House of The Rising Son" is the best, better than the original and the one I refer back to when comparing new singers singing it.
I totally get what you mean! But honestly, I'm glad she didn't win. Haley is too good to be wrapped up in that career-ending disaster of a record deal. Now she's working on her own and with real musicians who let her shine. Haley is the epitome of musicianship, while Idol's record deal is the bastard lovechild of instruments and money.
I had her pegged from the start to win American Idol. It's a shame that the voters would take lesser talent over her. She is far better than the one who won. It was the last season I watched American Idol.
Same here. The first time I heard her on Idol I thought, "Oh, here's this year's winner." and with every following performance I thought the same thing. I couldn't believe it when she got voted off. I don't even know who won that year. It didn't matter, because the real winner didn't win.
I am a retired drummer of many years, and I know talent when I see/hear it. The winner that year was a country singer named Scotty McCreery. Needless to say, even though he was a good one style country singer, Haley was far better and more versatile. That convinced me that AI is a popularity contest, not a talent contest. You can see some of my video drum lessons and drum solos on RUclips under the name "daniel casher"
Now that she's with Scott Bradlee's Post-Modern Jukebox she needs to do a gritty 1920's Jazz version of this with them... Because she's got one of the best voices for this song... Plus, it would be cool to hear it with her voice in two different styles - Blues Rock and 20's Jazz.
She has honestly destroyed all songs. No contestant, no human on earth today can sing like Haley. No one. She is the most talented vocally behind any microphone. This one song though I still give to the Animals. The original is just so damn hard to beat. Every song she has done she has done better than the original. My hats off to the Animals for the legendary masterpiece that will resonate through the halls of Rock n Roll forever.
The Animals is not the original now. It's more of a commercially successful version of what was recorded numerous times before them by blues and folk musicians.
@@missdee4927 the house of the rising sun goes back further than the blues of America. It is folk music first. English songs from the 16th and 17th century. In fact blues were learned from Appalachian folk people who taught people of color the blues guitar or harp. Even changing of the words from gospel to local music. This goes back a long way. Not everything came from the blues. Music has been around for 1,000’s of years. The House of the Rising Sun is older than all America’s. Lyrics written in pubs older than the USA.
The Animals are _not_ the original. It was around before any of them were born. She weakens the song, which is about brothel slavery and not gambling, by using the same stupid lyrics they did.
OMG....just found this.......LOVED it when she sang it on Amer Idol....THIS version should be on the radio......maybe it was...and..I missed it.???..Kudos missy...you ROCKED IT......sassy and raspy.....W*O*W..
I used to hate this song for personal reasons until I heard this lovely lady sing it. She nailed it and she should have won American Idol. just my .02 cents.
Oh Haley if you're out there, please my favorite female voice of all time, I would love to hear you pay tribute to Clare Torri and the Floyd on your version of "Great Gig in the Sky"
every year i watch this show. since i was 7. and i never like had an 'idol' from the show. but she is deffinantly one. i love how she was soo different from anything on the show. shes amazinggg.
@Ezwex OH! i always thought it was 'when he's won or drunk' and i always see it written as "on a drunk' which makes no sense----but 'on a drug' --finally, that does make sense! thanks !
It's unknown. This is a classic American folk song, so the origins and original dating are unknown. The earliest known recording is by Clarence Ashley in 1934. The first really popular version was by the Animals in 1964.
The "original" you refer to is a cover itself. This song has a LONG history going back to the 1920's (or late to earlier 1900's) depending on what you read.
The original song is from the female perspective......It was originally about a prostitute. The Animals changed the lyrics to make it from a male perspective. The female version is a very powerful one when a woman sings it.
probably one of the best female voices on the planet honestly. sooo underrated :-/
She isn't better than Whitney Houston
...with Sia and Mon Laferte
Fr thooo
One of the best vocalists period
@@rosarusso8886 yes she is
She's in total control of those wonderful lyrics. Would love to see the look on Mr Burdens face as he watched her perform. She's stride for stride
Even The Animals version is a cover, this song has a long history.
Most talented American Idol singer ever, hands down. Hands. Down.
It is hard to believe that a human being can sing like this - it’s angelic! If I were a vocalist and heard this I’d hang it up and find something else to do…
This is the best rendition of this song I've ever heard! Love it!!
so true!
Except for Lead Zeppelin's.

Adam LAmbert was the best of HIS year, the best never wins

Her interpretation of this song is so right, she's incredible!!

This chick can cover a song and sing it the way it's suppose to be... Beautiful Artist !!!
I'm glad the arranger kept Alan Price's organ riffs for this superb rendition.
Unquestionably the best of her generation.
Still listening to this because its too amazing to be unlistened to
She does it the best I swear
Wow! Real talent and she is not more popular? She can sing without a computer.

What about uh that one sad clown from post modern jukebox?
The Animals are _not_ the original. It was around before any of them were born. She weakens the song, which is about brothel slavery and not gambling, by using the same stupid lyrics they did.
Actually you should hear Chase Holfelder's version. He mixes amazing grace and House of the rising sun together but differently.
I get goosebumps when I listen to her sing this

I used to hate this song for personal reasons until I heard this lovely lady sing it. She nailed it and she should have won American Idol. just my .02 cents.

The original song is from the female perspective......It was originally about a prostitute. The Animals changed the lyrics to make it from a male perspective. The female version is a very powerful one when a woman sings it.
i just had a freaking eargasm
Great cover. In fact it's amazing considering it's live. Not many can be that good using their voice without auto tune. I really hate auto tune. 😑😡
I really doubt this is live
