Was right near the front of this show. Wasn't even really a fan of FFAF, but I have to say the boys won me over! Good times. Festivals are just not the same anymore
My tenuous claim to fame is that I used to work with Darran Smith at British Gas in Cardiff. I was a team leader and he was working on the Support section, doing exciting things like filing and paper shuffling. He once said in an interview that it was the most boring job he had ever had. Can't argue with that! Never got to see them in the early days, but I saw them supporting Iron Maiden on the "Dance of Death" Tour. Excellent, musically very much like Maiden, in fact.
I meant to say that he was a really nice fella, very quiet, never outspoken or big headed. I had no idea they had such a BIG following until they made it big with "Casually Dressed". He deserves all the success that came to him. I met Kelly Jones of Stereophonics in a pub in St Mary's Street once and he was a nice guy as well.
I was providing medical cover in the pit during this performance. Was so intense!
What a comment lol

Did he leave the band to continue his dream of delivering gas to homes across Britain?
