  • It’s a process but, if you’re patient, you can save an entire bank and sequence to one disk.
    I forgot to show you how to format the disk - it’s pretty easy: hit “command” then “system” then scroll until you find “ format floppy disk” then insert your new disk and hit “yes/enter”

    I've got an EPS with floppy emulator on its way to me and am gonna be copping a ZiN 4x... so if I fill up all 2.1mb, will the EPS automatically ask for another 'disk' and carry on saving on that once one is filled up, like the S950? Or is the only way to save sounds and seqs over many disks to save them all separately manually onto a couple and then have to load them all in separately too? If so, I may have to go the SCSI route earlier than I was anticipating!

      If you get the floppy emulator with the oiled screen and the push-in rotary encoder, then yes you can save across multiple disks when the EPS prompts you. You just have to scroll to the next empty disk and press the encoder to load it. Works the opposite when loading

      @@lugo4905 Cool. That's good to know and thanks for the reply. I'm not sure what sort of flopem it has yet as the photos were taken before it was fitted. Will see!
      Thanks for the vids you've posted. There's very little about the OG EPS on here! I've been into samplers for over 20 years and never knew it even existed until recenty! I had an SP1200/S950 combo but had to sell them to get through the Covid shut downs and have been trying and failing ever since to find a cheaper alternative and I think the EPS should do the trick! Can't wait for its arrival - back to the low bits!!!

      @@RunOfTheHind the EPS has a huge range of sounds that it can achieve but it doesn’t get quite near the 950 or sp1200. The EPS sequencer is good. If you want a sampler that comes close to the aliasing of the 1200, then look at the Ensoniq Mirage - which I think sounds better than the 1200

      @@lugo4905 The mirage wouldn't have enough RAM for me, since I'm very loop/break based.
      Altho the aliasing of the SP could very often be lovely (digital dust!), it wasn't always suitable, depending on the material, and that wasn't the focus of it for me. Twas just the overall sound and the workflow/ease of use. Man, I miss that thing. If I ever get back to earning what I was pre-Covid, I'll spring for another...altho they're already double what I sold mine for only 2 years ago!
      Since I sold those two I've had an Amiga (great but too noisy), an MPC60 (best sequencer in the world but the sound was too vanilla and was too expensive for me to hang onto) and then a load of more modern cheaper boxes, like the Boss/Roland SPs and MS-1, Korg Electribe, MPC500 etc etc and also a Roland W30, but nothing fitted with my workflow or inspiartional needs. Aside from my preference for late 80s gear and low bits/sample rates/RAM and it having everything I need workflow-wise, the only box that the EPS doesn't tick is not having decimal point BPM (as far as I can tell) but that shouldn't be a problem as it has proper and detailed pitching. So I'm sure the search will end with it, til I'm loaded again. Sure, it might not sound quite like an SP, but I expect I will be more than satisfied by how it does sound and it's a cheap sampler from my fave era that can do everything I need. They seem really slept on!

    I bought an EPS Classic nearly 4 weeks ago and I just track out beats to studio one after finishing my beat. My EPS just has a regular floppy drive and I don't want to go through the hassle of using floppies

      Floppies are really good for saving instruments/synth patches for recall. I would suggest getting the gotek floppy emulator. But, if your process is working for you, then there’s no need to change it 👍

    I just copped an EPS Classic. What exactly is the Floppy Emulator? Does it work on Mac? How many floppies are contained on it?

    • @lugo4905
      @lugo4905  2 года назад

      The floppy emulator allows you to store floppy images on a usb thumb drive. I got mine from samplerzone.com They send you the emulator and a usb thumb drive with one floppy image on it and floppy images of all the original disks from Ensoniq. Just copy the blank floppy image on your computer as many times as you want until you fill up 16gb. I use a Mac.

    Hi, thanks for your videos. What is a realistic price for this sampler? regards🍻

      If you can find one locally, then you can get some t for $350-$450. The prices vary on eBay or reverb, but they can be had for $350-$500 with a $100 shipping.

    How do I save the OS to disk?

  • @blocadebeats
    @blocadebeats 3 года назад

    Does the Gotex have a seperate command for saving to disk? I know its 16gb usb inside but is it like having multiple floppies at a time? I just ordered one from the website you sent me. I cant wait to bring it back to life!!! Dope video bro keep em coming!!!!

      Sweet! I hope you got the oled screen and rotary knob with it - makes it so much easier to navigate. But, yes you get a blank floppy image. Copy as many of the blank floppies as you want to fill up 16gb. You can do it on the gotek itself, but it’s easier on your computer
