Hi! Nice Q, the A now... At 5:47 - 6:27 watch closely at 'Display settings' (right click on desktop, click Display settings), you have there 'Multiple displays' option (just scroll down little bit)---choose 'Extend these displays' option and you get different display. However, the issue discussed in the video is one step ahead---but never mind it's solved and i hope after watching this video+read description and comment, the problem gets solved. :)

In Device Manger go to 'Display adapters' option...choose the appropriate Graphics/Display adapter you are using from the list (under 'display adapter'). 4. Now, right click in your appropriate Graphics/Display adapter (of Step 3) and click 'Update driver'...If you are connected with Internet go with 'search automatically....' or If you have your Graphic Driver in you PC already then go to option 'Browse my computer...' 5. its because this wire splitter is not display card so it will just send the same signal to 2 monitors useful for my setup but for your setup you will need external graphics card so the laptop card splits into 2 monitor and the third monitor with the external card, but it will be advisable to buy external graphics card that support 3 monitors that's to make sure u have enough ram and not load more process on ur laptop display card
If I get VGA Splitter Y cable, and connect two monitors, Can I extend the displays between them?. I want to keep the laptop away, with just two monitors and Wireless Keyboard/mouse on my desk. So from your discussion here are the options I have. 1. VGA Y splitter (This might not extend my displays, as it will ONLY duplicate the display 2. USB to VGA adapter ( This way I can connect the third screen) So if I want extended displays, I cannot get that from option 1. Right? Thanks
Hi! Follow these steps: 1) Go to 'Display settings' 2) Now in 'Display' section select your wanted display screen number. In our case it's laptop display, which is our main display. To get number identification of your display hit 'Identify' button and the number will bee displayed in your screen. chose that number. 3) Go to 'Resolution' option and choose the Recommended or highest supported resolution by your monitor. In my case the resolution on my Laptop monitor was lowered automatically and i had to manually increase the resolution.. 4) Finished!!! :)

HI JOSEPH, the core thing here to understand is MIRROR DISPLAY and EXTENDED DISPLAY...which I was not aware of at that time and thought that having my laptop HDMI out port splitted into 2 (using VGA Y SPLITTER), I can have 2 display... BUT WAIT! OF COURSE! I have 2 display but that was mirror display (same or duplicate display) and not the extended display which I needed. Now to your question 'SO what worked in the end?'...After this failure test (as shown in the video), I was just refreshing myself with my garden fresh Papaya and started to do little research and BOOM! THE SOLUTION FOR ME! I HAD TO COMPLETELY REMOVE THAT 'VGA Y SPLITTER' IN THIS CASE!!! :) NOW, I SIMPLY CONNECTED MY laptop HDMI with my other HDMI TO VGA adapter (as shown in the video)...I had to change my workflow little bit but that turned to be much much more better than before which I was trying to do in the video...in the video I was trying to achieve extended display in side to side view (my wall mount led+CRT) but after little practical walk-through I found top to down extended display was amazing in my case...wall mount led+my laptop monitor...be sure when first using HDMI TO VGA your laptop screen resolution might go small, just change your screen resolution back to as it was. So, basically this resulted much much much better work experience to me and also possibility to save my working space!!! :) However, I came to know at this point that I could easily use 'USB TO VGA' display adapter to increase my monitor display number...each one port (HDMI/USB) counts one display...I mean adding 1 USB TO VGA adds one more additional display and if you have again other extra monitor you have to have again other USB TO VGA adapter and so on...all counts as MIRROR+EXTENDED! But, I didn't have to go through that as I was already happy by this time with my workflow. You can see my workflow in my latest video as of now. So, this was all how it worked amazingly to me!!! A short note would be each one port counts one display...1 HDMI to VGA for 1 screen display (of course you can split and have mirror display from it) ...1 USB TO VGA for another 1 separate display and so on. However, recently I came to be aware that 'DisplayPort to 2 HDMI MST Hub' or 'USB-C to HDMI MST Hub (usb-c mst hub to 2 hdmi)' can give you EXTENDED+MIRROR DISPLAY from one adapter (with some conditions! read their spec.). Also, see my recent pinned comment where I have shared some of my DIY knowledge in this topic. :) I HOPE THIS HELPED. :)
Generally, It should be just a plug n play matter...you plug your active type c to vga adapter in your pc and connect with vga cable of your monitor...However, in case of mobile only type c is not sufficient, it must be type c 3.1 for display out. I have tried type c on mobile but not in pc. Also, updated version of this video is coming soon...I have recorded and now just need to edit and upload and hope it has some valuable information for you as well...just update your system and graphics driver in case you haven't or might also be you have faulty cable or something not supported.BTW your laptop brand/model?
@@riwajacharya Thanks for answer. My laptop is an Dell latitude intel 7480 core I5, around five years old. A docking station worked well with USB-C connection, but the VGA to USB-C adapter wouldn't work. I guess either the Laptop don't support VGA transfer from this simple adapter, or maybe there are something wrong with the adapter (it was a cheap one bought on net).

I beleive all that should matter is your Computrer hardware and Computer settings. Monitors are simply display unit. However, there could be some function to choose over other in your LG TV and for that checking its manual and searching for related content in YT for your particular LG TV can be helpful.

Unfortunately that's not how VGA splitter works. It simply duplicates the signal output from the VGA port. Nice Q, the A now... At 5:47 - 6:27 watch closely at 'Display settings' (right click on desktop, click Display settings), you have there 'Multiple displays' option (just scroll down little bit)---choose 'Extend these displays' option and you get different display. However, the issue discussed in the video is one step ahead---but never mind it's solved and i hope after watching this video+read description and comment, the problem gets solved. :)

1. Press WINDOWS LOGO+R ...now type this Run command 'devmgmt.msc' and hit OK.
2. The Device Manager will open...
3. In Device Manger go to 'Display adapters' option...choose the appropriate Graphics/Display adapter you are using from the list (under 'display adapter').
4. Now, right click in your appropriate Graphics/Display adapter (of Step 3) and click 'Update driver'...If you are connected with Internet go with 'search automatically....' or If you have your Graphic Driver in you PC already then go to option 'Browse my computer...'
5. If anything is asked just follow the appropriate on screen direction and let's hope you're at SUCCESS! :)

1.1) VGA SPLITTER (ACTIVE AND PASSIVE)---Duplicate/mirror same display to one monitor and one projector or as such. Active is powered and passive is not powered. Avoid passive (vga y splitter) if possible. It only mirrors/duplicates, not extend the display.
2) HDMI TO HDMI
2.1) HDMI SWITCHER (MANY IN 1 OUT)---Xbox, set top box etc. to 1 display (tv/monitor).
2.2) HDMI SPLITTER (1 IN MANY OUT)---Like in tv showrooms many tv has same displays. It can be done by hdmi splitter. I assume it wont extend your display in pc but rather only duplicate/mirror to other monitors/tv.
3) HDMI TO VGA (HDMI TO 1 VGA)---This adapter/converter converts your HDMI port to VGA port. The display can be duplicate/mirror+extended.
4) USB MULTI DISPLAY ADAPTER/USB EXTERNAL VIDEO CARD ADAPTER/USB TO VGA HDMI DVI EXTERNAL VIDEO CARD ADAPTER/USB TO VGA ADAPTER (USB TO 1 VGA)---It enables you to connect additional display device. The connected display can act as mirrored or extended desktop of the main display on your pc.
5) DISPLAY PORT/DISPLAYPORT TO VGA (DISPLAY PORT TO 1 VGA)---It duplicates/mirrors+extends the display. Your computer must have a Display Port (like HDMI port) to insert this adapter.

We cannot extend display but can only mirror using VGA Y SPLITTER. I have clearly shown in the video.
its because this wire splitter is not display card so it will just send the same signal to 2 monitors useful for my setup but for your setup you will need external graphics card so the laptop card splits into 2 monitor and the third monitor with the external card, but it will be advisable to buy external graphics card that support 3 monitors that's to make sure u have enough ram and not load more process on ur laptop display card

If I get VGA Splitter Y cable, and connect two monitors, Can I extend the displays between them?. I want to keep the laptop away, with just two monitors and Wireless Keyboard/mouse on my desk. So from your discussion here are the options I have.
1. VGA Y splitter (This might not extend my displays, as it will ONLY duplicate the display
2. USB to VGA adapter ( This way I can connect the third screen)
So if I want extended displays, I cannot get that from option 1. Right?

Hi! Follow these steps:
1) Go to 'Display settings'
2) Now in 'Display' section select your wanted display screen number. In our case it's laptop display, which is our main display. To get number identification of your display hit 'Identify' button and the number will bee displayed in your screen. chose that number.
3) Go to 'Resolution' option and choose the Recommended or highest supported resolution by your monitor. In my case the resolution on my Laptop monitor was lowered automatically and i had to manually increase the resolution..
4) Finished!!! :)

HI JOSEPH, the core thing here to understand is MIRROR DISPLAY and EXTENDED DISPLAY...which I was not aware of at that time and thought that having my laptop HDMI out port splitted into 2 (using VGA Y SPLITTER), I can have 2 display... BUT WAIT! OF COURSE! I have 2 display but that was mirror display (same or duplicate display) and not the extended display which I needed.
Now to your question 'SO what worked in the end?'...After this failure test (as shown in the video), I was just refreshing myself with my garden fresh Papaya and started to do little research and BOOM! THE SOLUTION FOR ME! I HAD TO COMPLETELY REMOVE THAT 'VGA Y SPLITTER' IN THIS CASE!!! :)
NOW, I SIMPLY CONNECTED MY laptop HDMI with my other HDMI TO VGA adapter (as shown in the video)...I had to change my workflow little bit but that turned to be much much more better than before which I was trying to do in the video...in the video I was trying to achieve extended display in side to side view (my wall mount led+CRT) but after little practical walk-through I found top to down extended display was amazing in my case...wall mount led+my laptop monitor...be sure when first using HDMI TO VGA your laptop screen resolution might go small, just change your screen resolution back to as it was.
So, basically this resulted much much much better work experience to me and also possibility to save my working space!!! :)
However, I came to know at this point that I could easily use 'USB TO VGA' display adapter to increase my monitor display number...each one port (HDMI/USB) counts one display...I mean adding 1 USB TO VGA adds one more additional display and if you have again other extra monitor you have to have again other USB TO VGA adapter and so on...all counts as MIRROR+EXTENDED! But, I didn't have to go through that as I was already happy by this time with my workflow. You can see my workflow in my latest video as of now.
So, this was all how it worked amazingly to me!!!
A short note would be each one port counts one display...1 HDMI to VGA for 1 screen display (of course you can split and have mirror display from it) ...1 USB TO VGA for another 1 separate display and so on. However, recently I came to be aware that 'DisplayPort to 2 HDMI MST Hub' or 'USB-C to HDMI MST Hub (usb-c mst hub to 2 hdmi)' can give you EXTENDED+MIRROR DISPLAY from one adapter (with some conditions! read their spec.). Also, see my recent pinned comment where I have shared some of my DIY knowledge in this topic. :)

Generally, It should be just a plug n play matter...you plug your active type c to vga adapter in your pc and connect with vga cable of your monitor...However, in case of mobile only type c is not sufficient, it must be type c 3.1 for display out. I have tried type c on mobile but not in pc. Also, updated version of this video is coming soon...I have recorded and now just need to edit and upload and hope it has some valuable information for you as well...just update your system and graphics driver in case you haven't or might also be you have faulty cable or something not supported.BTW your laptop brand/model?
@@riwajacharya Thanks for answer. My laptop is an Dell latitude intel 7480 core I5, around five years old. A docking station worked well with USB-C connection, but the VGA to USB-C adapter wouldn't work. I guess either the Laptop don't support VGA transfer from this simple adapter, or maybe there are something wrong with the adapter (it was a cheap one bought on net).

If you want to Mirror your display then this should work. You dont need additional gpu, your integrated gpu/APU should work.

I beleive all that should matter is your Computrer hardware and Computer settings. Monitors are simply display unit. However, there could be some function to choose over other in your LG TV and for that checking its manual and searching for related content in YT for your particular LG TV can be helpful.

In case of MIRROR DISPLAY by VGA Y SPLITTER ITS 1; as display is 1, its just mirroring. FOR HDMI TO VGA ITS 2 DISPLAYS, MIRROR+ EXTEND.

If your MOTHERBOARD supports 2 displays at the same time you can MIRROR+EXTEND. DONT FORGET TO UPDATE YOUR GRAPHIC DRIVERS AND PC TOO.

This video demonstrates how to mirror or extend displays in laptop...for desktop it's easy and even onboard graphics can easily utilize the multi video out port like hdmi or display port...no need to worry for this case...watch my other updated video for desktop case as well, link will be in the I button!
Unfortunately that's not how VGA splitter works. It simply duplicates the signal output from the VGA port. You can buy some these instead:
