Though I missed this reunion as I was working overseas at the time, I am eternally thankful for having been a member of the University of Illinois Glee Club in the early/mid-seventies. The reason this choir sounds so good is that, as far as I am aware, the Ill. Glee Club generally sounded this good pretty much every year--a tribute to our late conductor Bill Olsen along with the current conductor Dr. Coleman. Also, something many of us might too easily forget is the great service Herman Krannert rendered to society in building that wonderful performance facility.
A very fine performance of a ravishing arrangement. This alumni group is unusually suave; "My Lord" must have been an Illinois tradition spanning many years. Bravo!
No one does these old great spirituals anymore.
We do...and we love it :)
