If that gum turns out like the one in the pic it will be awesome . Love the tree at the end. From what I could see those parrots were either red rumps or mulga parrots. Love watching birds in nature as well.
Hi Sam just wondering what the after-care is for such a method I've only had 2 plants survive from 10 and the last 2 are looking dodgy? Do you need to put a plastic bag over it and what is the watering schedule? Many thanks Tobias
I just water enough to keep it moist. I think a big key point to having it survive is to cut it back really hard so there are no leaves taking moisture. For me I just put it in full sun and cross my fingers. I do also have plants die after collecting 😇😇
Oh another thing been meaning to ask you for a while , in your plantings/experience is there much point in getting the native potting mix from bummings?
I think most of the differences between these are the types of additives they have. If you look on the bags they will have different combinations of fertiliser, wetting agents etc on them, all of which are not really needed.
Hey Sam, awesome save of the Red Gum mate. She'll be a beauty. I've had success with growing cuttings from Red Gums using propagating powder.. Give it a crack. Can never have enough Gums mate 🌱👍😊
Nise place you have there my friend stay safe
Cheers mate. Thanke for tge watch and comment 😀
Nice hunting ground mate.. So many nice materials out there... 😎👍👍
Cheers for the watch and comment mate
I'm watching from Toronto, Canada (aka: The Bonsai Zone country) - love seeing your native trees!
Ha ha The bonsai zone I like it. Have fun and say hi to Nigel for me.
Greetings from Aus 😀
Workadori! Nice one!!😃
Cheers mate
Of all the jobs I had imagined Over the years that you do , wine maker was never one of them 😃, loved that intro too
Ha ha cheers mate. Was a quiet windless day. Was worried other workers might hear 🤣🤣
Loved this vid. Would love to see more vids on the natives from scratch. Or vids about which native gums are ok to bonsai.
Cheers mate. I do plan on more natives in the future. Some of my stock trees are getting close to be worked on 😀
Nice save! Seth looks much smaller in that tree than beside your bonsai. Haha!
Ha ha he sure does🤣
Good luck with that one!
Cheers mate
Going to definitely watch ya more than I have been as I'm looking forward to seeing this tree's progress
Awesome mate and great news you are on board 😀
Hope it does well. I love River Red Gums.
Cheers mate. Im sure it will grow well but time will tell if it becomes something 😀
Cheers for the watch and comment 😀
That’s a cool tree
Cheers mate
Should be a good slasher yamadori. Love the old gum tree too. I get chills thinking about how much they have seen. 😁👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🍻
Ha ha cheers for the watch mate
I’m really keen to see how this one progresses. I’d like to perhaps do something similar to this.
Go for it mate. Nothing to lose with free material 😀
Pretty sweet! Looks good in the pot. I’ve dug a couple things this year that aren’t looking all that great... oh well, live and learn I guess...
Yeh mate for sure. A lot of my collected stuff does not survive. Australia has to be one of the hardest places to get trees and have them live 🤗
Nice find. Save a Red Gum day.

Cheers mate. Yeh red rump I think is right. Quality not great I know. I also call them grass parrots as they sit on the front lawn in summer. 😀
I laughted so hard at that expression and laugh right after your aussie bonsai bloke intro 🤣 fair play
Ha ha cheers mate 😀
A Bonsai Master who also demonstrates a Bonsai Life
Cheers mate. I love nature and the stress relief we get from it. Soo relaxing 😀😀
Nice creek. I bet you can go fishing for trout.
Bit warm here but upstream you get redfin. Adelaide Hills have a few trout 😀
It is beautiful on the creek 👍🏼
Sure is mate. Nature is beautiful 😀

Hi mate not at all. Succulent mix is fine. Maybe for a grevillia or banksia I have hear but then again I have some in normal mix??
I think most of the differences between these are the types of additives they have. If you look on the bags they will have different combinations of fertiliser, wetting agents etc on them, all of which are not really needed.
Eucalyptus bonsais should be more popular, they’re awesome!
They sure are mate. Also hardy and one of the easiest to collect 😀
You have the green thumb, should grow nice.
Cheers mate. My green thumb was learnt as I used to be hopeless 🤣

Awesome mate. They are one of those Australian Native trees they can handle root work for sure.
