      Absolutely game changing physics, and for the better most definitely. You have to be incredibly precise on your throttle, brake and steering inputs to handle the cars now. They feel much more alive and like their real life counterparts. Especially some of the MR cars.

    I can understand they want to add barrier collision penalties to prevent wallriding, but I really wish they could find a way to make it so that you don't get a penalty for *crashing head on into a wall and dying*

    • @mrbob4104
      @mrbob4104 Год назад +100

      I think they are looking for such solution but added this in the meantime. Remenber these things might seem simple to implement, but the maths and logic behind it is very advanced and since there is no manuel explaining how to do everything, they have to find solutions to these problems themselves.

      @Mr Bob Fair point. It's kind of the same as getting penalties for getting rear ended. If there was a full solution, they would have used it already. Still, a man can dream

      @@kurgerbingsteve There are so many variables in races that can play into why someone hits a wall or another player. Probably really hard to program the perfectly fair steward when racing can be a bit chaotic at times :)

    • @skltr21
      @skltr21 Год назад +15

      They need to just know where people can exploit that and make those walls penalty zones. Other than that, it’s always slower to hit a wall. Hitting the wall is already a penalty. The time for hitting a wall is absurd. I get it with hitting a car, but the wall, that’s just dumb and makes no sense.

      @@Super_GT I have a logitech g29. Are more expensive racingwheels faster? Any recommendations?

    • @CH1K3N99
      @CH1K3N99 Год назад +19

      @@MrStaano You will not be faster with an expensive wheel. You can pass gold comfotably with a pad. I was a pad user since GT1 and have jumped from a pad to a CSL DD.
      The fancier wheel will feel smoother, react quicker, will be silent, will have no vibrations.
      It will however, have no weight, way too much resistance, way too much spring, damping that is like that of a truck yet a steering rack of a gokart.
      However, this is all circumvented with software. Setting it up so it feels just right on your literal "Steering wheel" as some are smaller or larger diameter and weigh differently. Diameter changing leverage, weight changing reaciton speed, oscilation etc.
      There are world record holders with G27s, and really, if you want to set records cofortably, you'll turn all the feedback to really really low. That's fast. No vibration, minimal feedback, minimal interfierance with your minute inputs, is fastest.
      A fancy wheel is just for the fun factor. And I will end on a generalisation.
      There's a lot of ego in car hobbies, you'll hear a lot people saying to "just do this", and they can't say "why".
      Good luck!
      After almost about 10 months now I am starting to love my little CSLDD I am happy it's cross compatible so I can play with my console buddies, but getting all the setups for the various road, rally, FF, 4WD, Mid, 1960 vs 2020s, different games, few. It is a learning curve.
      If all you play one make racing however, it's a lot easier!

    I'm liking the new physics. The limit is much more narrow on corner exits, but most cars now oversteer more predictably, as you demonstrated at 10:49. The cars now step and slide out instead of whipping and snapping erratically when they regain traction. Different cars have different limits and the sensation of grip varies during oversteer, but overall recovering on a spin-out is far more manageable than before. Downshifting also has more of a clunk and throws a little more weight forward than before.

I hated it for an hour - got frustrated and then turned the game off, but I came back later in the day and managed to get a hand on it. Yes i was impacted too. I'm on controller, pad acceleration and auto-shift and I had a best time of 6:34.2 for the Nurburgring Nord CE just before the update. My first try to the same CE was 6:41 and the drive did feel very different after update. I had to go back to the sector training and after getting gold again for each sector, I set out to try the full lap and got around 6:35.4 on my first complete run. Trail braking was indeed a lot less effective after update and the BMW in particular became more prone to sliding in acceleration. As for the OTT with Alphard, which is a car added after the update, it did not understeer as much as I expected, and I wonder if cars of an understeering nature would all become less understeering than before...

    I like the update, now I get more information from the ffb and it feels more connected to the car. The wheel is now communicating better the physics engine. If they will add more road surface feeling on the straights, engine vibrations and curbs details on some tracks the game will be perfect. Good to see they are going to the right direction, maybe some road cars are too light now on the wheel, they should consider adding a per car force feedback setting that we can adjust and save

Where I used to accelerate without problem now becomes slippery spots. However we calculated where I would be if it was a race weekend with my fastest lap and turns out I would have been 12th in an a final, so especially with the kart problems I was pleased with it, thank you mate👍

    I honestly feel like these physics changes are a step backwards. My main grinding car understeers badly now, and the traction control settings are also a change for the worse. I'm not going to stop playing the game or anything, and will do my best to get used to the new update. It just seems like the game punishes casual players/ newer players or anyone who isn't a professional Sim racer with a nice wheel and pedal setup. The cars should be predictable. Now it feels like I have no idea what the car will do now, if it's going to understeer, or completely break traction at random times, when I'm trying my best to be smooth at corner entry and exits.

    I had some rally lessons last year - basically I was practising weight transfer and breaking/gaining traction with break/throttle inputs on a dirt track (on mud as well). Of course I'm not a rally champ now, but at the end of the course I was at a stage where I was controlling the car the way I want, not the other way around.
    I don't give a damn if I'm faster or slower with this new physics, but when I'm driving now, It really feels like I drive a real car and when I screw up, I immediately know why this happened and try to do it better next time (like on the dirt track). I think the update is awesome and it really is a step up in the right direction!

    I've been playing with the new physics all weekend now. Here's a couple notable things I've picked up on.
    1) When tire wear is a factor, the aggressiveness of your throttle input has pretty big effect on the drive tires. I've noticed my gt3rs wears the rears considerably more if I'm constantly stomping the gas pedal. Much more realistic in that way.
    2) There's something a bit weird happening with wheel speed and downforce with the new physics. If you car starts loosing traction and picking up considerable wheel speed at speed, it becomes pretty much uncontrollable and you get spun out very suddenly. Best way to test this, get a daytona charger, and try doing the daytona oval track with it. Take a bank at speed, you'll notice the rear become light, pick up wheel speed, and you'll spin out almost immediately. Yes I understand this car has 0 downforce, but any classic car that has little downforce is pretty much undriveable on the oval track at speed.
    3) Trail braking is definitely much harder to manage with the new physics
    4) Delicate throttle input effects understeer a lot. Like you've mentioned, before you were able to brute force, now you'd actually be faster taking some long sweeping corners at 90% throttle rather than 100%.

Since the update my time trails in daily race C have been around 2 sec slower (In the Supra, I was using the AMG before which is even slower now) then before and I have had to turn on TCS on 1 for turn #1 because the oversteer is just to much and in race on the mediums I have it on 2 just to survive that turn.

      I get the point of gold target times is to have a near flawless run, but for the sake of it just being a game there has to be some forgiveness.

    The new physics make sense, the setups are now really more effective than they previously were, so setting up the car correctly is now an integral part of the racing experience.
    The only thing I disagree though, is the way they treated trail braking, as trail braking is THE most effective way into going on most curves around the world, specially the faster ones.
    Trail braking is not difficult, pulling it off requires a bit more of a sense to your left foot, but once you manage it, it becomes second nature. So, breaking the power of the trail braking makes no sense, to me. It will not avoid dive bombs, and now it becomes a dispute of who brakes later, instead of who brakes better.

    • @mirial2108
      @mirial2108 Год назад +2

      The biggest issue with the braking previously (I haven't tried the latest update) was that the ABS was very intrusive which limited the rotation and being able to point the car into the corner so that you can get back on the throttle immediately. Good rotation is essential to being fast as not only are you back on the throttle sooner but the car has a straighter trajectory on the exit which enables you to apply more throttle as well.

    • @redstoneracing
      @redstoneracing Год назад

    • @mirial2108
      @mirial2108 Год назад +1

      @@redstoneracing What most don't realise is that the lack of rotation both on entry with the brakes depressed, then released, and mid corner is that this sets up a very poor trajectory on exit which is why so many confuse the cars for having power oversteer. I tried the updated physics with the GT3 BMW and the understeer is horrendous. It shows you how numb players have become when they don't notice stuff like this anymore, and then can't drive a car that actually does handle properly and blame the car itself.

    • @sombraarthur
      @sombraarthur Год назад

      @@mirial2108 I understand... Still, the brakes now are so much understeer inducing, that if you try to trail brake, you will end up with a car that you have to nurse it back to rotation, by using the throttle, or you will have to wrestle it from the understeer to rotation, because even the slightest blip on the brake, will throw the car to understeer, even if you are already on full rotation, which makes a setup where your brake bias is more towards the rear of the car (which is counterintuitive, as it is more like a "rain" setup) to balance the effects of the powerfull front-end braking, making the understeer under braking more manageable and the trail braking more effective.
      It feels like they simply flipped the "braking script" and called it quits.
