      Absolutely game changing physics, and for the better most definitely. You have to be incredibly precise on your throttle, brake and steering inputs to handle the cars now. They feel much more alive and like their real life counterparts. Especially some of the MR cars.

    I can understand they want to add barrier collision penalties to prevent wallriding, but I really wish they could find a way to make it so that you don't get a penalty for *crashing head on into a wall and dying*

      I think they are looking for such solution but added this in the meantime. Remenber these things might seem simple to implement, but the maths and logic behind it is very advanced and since there is no manuel explaining how to do everything, they have to find solutions to these problems themselves.

      @@kurgerbingsteve There are so many variables in races that can play into why someone hits a wall or another player. Probably really hard to program the perfectly fair steward when racing can be a bit chaotic at times :)

    • @skltr21
      @skltr21 Год назад +15

      They need to just know where people can exploit that and make those walls penalty zones. Other than that, it’s always slower to hit a wall. Hitting the wall is already a penalty. The time for hitting a wall is absurd. I get it with hitting a car, but the wall, that’s just dumb and makes no sense.

      @@Super_GT I have a logitech g29. Are more expensive racingwheels faster? Any recommendations?

    • @CH1K3N99
      @CH1K3N99 Год назад +19

      @@MrStaano You will not be faster with an expensive wheel. You can pass gold comfotably with a pad. I was a pad user since GT1 and have jumped from a pad to a CSL DD.
      The fancier wheel will feel smoother, react quicker, will be silent, will have no vibrations.
      It will however, have no weight, way too much resistance, way too much spring, damping that is like that of a truck yet a steering rack of a gokart.
      However, this is all circumvented with software. Setting it up so it feels just right on your literal "Steering wheel" as some are smaller or larger diameter and weigh differently. Diameter changing leverage, weight changing reaciton speed, oscilation etc.
      There are world record holders with G27s, and really, if you want to set records cofortably, you'll turn all the feedback to really really low. That's fast. No vibration, minimal feedback, minimal interfierance with your minute inputs, is fastest.
      A fancy wheel is just for the fun factor. And I will end on a generalisation.
      There's a lot of ego in car hobbies, you'll hear a lot people saying to "just do this", and they can't say "why".
      Good luck!
      After almost about 10 months now I am starting to love my little CSLDD I am happy it's cross compatible so I can play with my console buddies, but getting all the setups for the various road, rally, FF, 4WD, Mid, 1960 vs 2020s, different games, few. It is a learning curve.
      If all you play one make racing however, it's a lot easier!

    I'm liking the new physics. The limit is much more narrow on corner exits, but most cars now oversteer more predictably, as you demonstrated at 10:49. The cars now step and slide out instead of whipping and snapping erratically when they regain traction. Different cars have different limits and the sensation of grip varies during oversteer, but overall recovering on a spin-out is far more manageable than before. Downshifting also has more of a clunk and throws a little more weight forward than before.

      Yes i was impacted too. I'm on controller, pad acceleration and auto-shift and I had a best time of 6:34.2 for the Nurburgring Nord CE just before the update. My first try to the same CE was 6:41 and the drive did feel very different after update. I had to go back to the sector training and after getting gold again for each sector, I set out to try the full lap and got around 6:35.4 on my first complete run. Trail braking was indeed a lot less effective after update and the BMW in particular became more prone to sliding in acceleration. As for the OTT with Alphard, which is a car added after the update, it did not understeer as much as I expected, and I wonder if cars of an understeering nature would all become less understeering than before...

I'm not going to stop playing the game or anything, and will do my best to get used to the new update. It just seems like the game punishes casual players/ newer players or anyone who isn't a professional Sim racer with a nice wheel and pedal setup. The cars should be predictable. Now it feels like I have no idea what the car will do now, if it's going to understeer, or completely break traction at random times, when I'm trying my best to be smooth at corner entry and exits.

    I've been playing with the new physics all weekend now. Here's a couple notable things I've picked up on.
    1) When tire wear is a factor, the aggressiveness of your throttle input has pretty big effect on the drive tires. I've noticed my gt3rs wears the rears considerably more if I'm constantly stomping the gas pedal. Much more realistic in that way.
    2) There's something a bit weird happening with wheel speed and downforce with the new physics. If you car starts loosing traction and picking up considerable wheel speed at speed, it becomes pretty much uncontrollable and you get spun out very suddenly. Best way to test this, get a daytona charger, and try doing the daytona oval track with it. Take a bank at speed, you'll notice the rear become light, pick up wheel speed, and you'll spin out almost immediately. Yes I understand this car has 0 downforce, but any classic car that has little downforce is pretty much undriveable on the oval track at speed.
    3) Trail braking is definitely much harder to manage with the new physics
    4) Delicate throttle input effects understeer a lot. Like you've mentioned, before you were able to brute force, now you'd actually be faster taking some long sweeping corners at 90% throttle rather than 100%.

If they will add more road surface feeling on the straights, engine vibrations and curbs details on some tracks the game will be perfect. So much more “sim” like 👍🏼 and more reliance on smoother inputs all round. Other subtle differences you will notice as you play more. Main one I’m noticing is more engine power related. It seems to be more effect of power loss when you over rev the engine. Paying attention to the power curve gives you the best rpm to change gears. Before it was more just rev the shit out it-now that is much slower. 👍🏼👍🏼

    The new Physics is Good & Bad. I love the feel, but those lap times are really effecting too.
    I for one have been experiencing Lap Times 3 seconds average slower than normal. Which with losing 3 Seconds makes a big difference. Especially for the Single Player Races, or even to those chasing the Gold Times in the Licenses, it makes a difference.
    The Cars also seem to be fighting the Acceleration a bit more too.

    • @mrjay520

      After testing it further,
      I’m losing on average 5 Seconds of Lap Time. This actually does make the “Single Player” Areas alot worse and harder to play.
      So, this is hurting every Car’s Performance rather than improving it.
      I honestly am wishing they do put things back to normal. I’m honestly not enjoying the new Physics, as I do play all areas, the Single Player areas will need alot of improvements now.

    Just the feeling of fluidity on the menus is enough to warrant getting a 120Hz display. It is delicious.

    First track I drove with the new physics was Monza with a 918 and I was hating it because it was understeer city… but I eventually realized it was the brakes giving up due to fade at T1 plus the weight and sheer speed of that car that was making it seem overly difficult. After driving some more regular cars and a few GT cars with better aero, I’ve noticed that the physics are actually a little more nuanced and predictable - different but I’m definitely liking it. Snap oversteer is definitely back in a big way with some cars, but honestly that exists in the real world with certain overpowered / poorly set up cars so I’m fine with it. Overall good update - but I do wish they’d settle on a physics model and leave it alone

    As a controller player, the new physics are much much harder to deal with. You just don't have the trigger or joystick travel to balance things as easily on the limit. It's a bit disappointing as I really enjoyed the previous physics as they allowed me to push but would punish you if you did get it too wrong.
