    1- ego
    Do past papers ASAP
    2- joylessness
    Do what you enjoy, even tho not as directly efficiently
    3- adoration
    Flashcards are great but not understanding it. Start to learn WHY
    DO U KNOW IT FROM THE BACK OF UR HAND, BUT STILL GETTING WRONG ?
    CAN U TEACH IT TO A FIVE YEAR OLD?
    REWORDING =CONFUSION?
    4- ignorance
    Don’t massage ego do detailed learning if getting something wrong
    5- isolation
    Friends are the best revision tool. Utilise them but not often
    6- rivalry
    Constant fighting can be draining and cause burnout p, gatekeeping, lying abt information. Don’t make rivals of people that should be ur friends
    7- face up to reality
    Efficiency is key, understand material and find that passion

      Same lol....I'm a Med School Graduate (circa 2017) and I've always needed pen and paper to make mind maps and summary points for me to link across subject matters along with past papers. From my personal experience I think that solely doing question banks and anki can sometimes lead to cramming and seeing cases with a tunnel vision which unfortunately isn't the best for postgraduate exams and daily management of patients where you need to see patients holistically. I'm happy that people can definitely just use these methods to excel as making notes and taking time to understand concepts can be quite painstaking lol but that's the best way for me contrary to what all these medtubers tell us. Just do what you're comfortable with tbh.

    • @imaanali8048
      @imaanali8048 Год назад +36

      @@ThaliaRam I'm a first year! This is oddly comforting to hear, past papers and anki can get so boring and bleak sometimes. Taking notes and piecing the things together on paper is so much more engaging!! I'm gonna stick to what I like and is the most interesting to me :)

    thank you. studied my ass off and failed miserably last semester. I am studying computer science and it made me feel like a stupid potato. Now i changed the way i study, i am doing a lot of math and programming, and while it may be comforting to stay with revising past lectures or book chapters there is nothing better than just doing a lot of papers and homeworks and assignments. I guess med must be different. I had to stop being in the comfort of all the theory and really every day put what i learn to the test. I have now a time window of 1,5h of revision for each lecture and then i immediately seek out practical questions and just calculate. Putting what i have learned to the test. I also hired a tutor for math and i go to my professors for immediate feedback on my efforts. Fingers crossed !!

    Been feeling guilty about my handwriting method since there's not enough representation here on youtube and I've been an anki wannabe for so long lol. But I do love handwriting and doing practice questions. And it's what works for me. Though it may not be the most efficient and effective, it's one that brings me joy and makes me learn. So if anyone needs validation, my handwriting gals, gays and gentlemen, this is it. Love this video Faye!

    This has been the best video I've seen on study methods. One of my biggest mistakes was doing long hours of inefficient revision using revision methods that 'smart people use'. I would spend hours glaring at a textbook only to realise more than half of that info has completely gone after a test. I neglected friendships and spend weekends toiling away on the laptop. Now, as I've started year 13 (wanting to go into biomedical science) I finally found revision methods that reminded me why I loved my subjects in the first place. Notetaking and practice questions. I've also allowed myself to enjoy my high school friendships more by going out with them more often to eat something or go ice skating etc. All these things- and my grades immediately shot up! Thank you so much Faye!

    I'm in my first year of biomedicine as I want to be a research scientist, and so many people have told me that making physical notes that are pleasing to read from is a waste of time. All I hear is I should be focusing on anki cards and practice questions but honesty, for me it's such a boring way to learn😅I love writing notes and it's how I learn best because I'm a very visual person. Does it take a lot of time? Sure. But it's something I love doing and I'm going to continue doing it🤷‍♀️

    I am doing an English Degree and one thing i do is write notes with a Fountain Pen as it slows your writing down in a way a biro doesn't and it makes me think more about what i am writing. I also read out chunks of my textbook and then listen to it on my headphones as sometimes it goes in more when i am tired or reading the same paragraph again and again and it is not happening!

    💩💞 lovely video! Great timing, honestly; the new semester just started and only one week in, I can already hear everyone's motor roaring to get ahead... All the comparison makes it hard to find friends for me personally, that's one of my issues. I can't put myself above that, because it always ends in comparing something, anything really - and I am insecure about my intelligence enough as is.
