"I was looking for a drain plug underneath the deck!" Same. I ended up taking off the transmission bracket thinking the plug would be underneath that. Now, I'm just hoping I got it back on right with the belt on the inside of the bracket.

@@edubb2491 What's in the Honda Tune Up Kit. Believe it is 10W 30. What they recommend. Use the same in a Generator and Pressure Washer that are both Honda.

Thank you for making this video. We were also looking for a drain plug underneath the lawn mower, Honda made it easier for us. After watching your video, it took us less than 5 minutes to do the oil change.
Thanks for the video. Who knew that you just turn it over and pour the oil out, I was thinking there must be a drain plug somewhere 🤔! For those not in the US, I convert 13 fluid Ounces to be about 380 millilitres. That worked out about right for my mower which strongly resembles yours.
Those are great little engines. My Craftman mower has one that's about 15 years old and I change the oil every 2 seasons(Canada) ; so far 2 plugs , 2 mower blades and maybe 4 air cleaners.
I personally like to add a little bit of fresh oil just after draining. About 300ml and give it a few idle pulls without the spark to try pick up all the old oil lying about. Then drain that and top up full amount with fresh oil!
Thanks for your tutorial, on the oil change, Castrol is just one of the best to use, it's used in most high end performance cars, MB, my rebuilt GMC 350, turned out awsome, Honda lawnmower is no nonsense product.
Good clean video..just one tip, tilt your mower so that the oil inlet is more upright, easier to fill, also a small piece of wire bent over and inserted next to the funnel..
I changed my lawnmowers oil for the first time in like 7 years idk how it still ran fine. H O N D A P O W E R I didn't do the heating up the oil thing so it took like 2 minutes for the black sludge to come out. It runs fine now, I put full synthetic
I have a Honda engine on an older Craftsman mower and it's been doing just fine for about 18 years. The only issue is that the owner's manual lists the oil capacity at 12 ounces but that will over-fill it. I've found that 8 ounces brings it to the proper level.
Part of the oil most likely remains in the engine... also remember to let the engine run for at least 2 minutes so that the used oil is more fluid and comes out more easily, as indicated in the video. If you don't know exactly how much oil you need or you don't have a graduated container, just use 2 similar plastic bottles, fully drain the used oil in one, then place the 2nd bottle side by side on a flat surface, and fill the 2nd bottle with the exact same amount of new oil. After the oil change start the engine, let it run a bit, then look at the dipstick and add some if needed. I did 3 oil changes today without any manual using this method, after each refill I put the used oil in a larger recipient, and repeat with the next engine... 1 mover, 1 power generator, and 1 weed eater, one oil tank was still full, another needed a small addition, and the 3rd much more.

thank you, I just cleaned it and was in disbelief that there was no plug on the underside of the machine. I got this, but I was told that 5W20 was for small engines that ran hot. It's worked great for my power washer.
Use the oil grade that the manufacturer tells you to use. Usually with small engines that is SAE 30, 20W-50, 15W-40, 10W-30, and in reallllllllly cold areas perhaps 5W-30. I don't think 5W-20 is proper for a pressure washer nor in hot climates.
Turn off the fuel valve and then start the mower to burn off any remaining fuel. Sounds ridiculous but draining the bowl greatly reduces the chance of particles and buildup from seeping into the jets and other ports when the mower is on it side.
ZenithClarity1969 yes! Drain the fuel bowl by running it out and then turning off the fuel valve if your mower allows. Less gas touching the metals of your mower the better in the long run.

As you may agree, engine oil is the life of your lawn mower as it is with auto engines. So if it takes you an hour to mow; every 20 hours or 20 cuts would be the time to change your oil or every 5 months or twice a year (except winter months). In Southern Cal our winters are fairly short. Would you recommend that the oil is drained for the off season? Thank you for answering.
Most mower engines need their oil changed every 20-50 hours of operation. A mower's owner's manual will indicate how often to perform oil changes on the mower. At the very least, an oil change should be done annually with other seasonal tune-up maintenance.
An oil change is so easy to do. You can do it for the price of the oil and maybe a funnel. I would not sweat it. PS: what looks only slightly dirty on the stick will look much darker in the catch basin.
Just put the Gatorade bottle over the spout. The tip the lawn mower over. The oil goes into the bottle! Works great.

How do you keep your mower pristine ? Mine has lost all its decals and getting rusty below
I keep it in the garage when not in use and wipe (Clorox wipes) or brush off any dirt or debris on all the surfaces after every use. Thanks for watching👍
The oil loosens up LMAO!
I didn't realize I'm funny.😂
Great video. How do you keep your mower so CLEAN?
I wipe it down after each use, thanks for watching.👍
@@Megalodon1 With just a wet rag or something? Looks brand new. Nice job.
A damp cloth will do the trick.💪
That was my first thought while I was watching.
Thank you for this helpful video.
Is 10-W30 used for honda lawnmower 5.5 Yardman ?
Can you use the left over oil for the next year ?
Hey thanks. I hope y’all are well and living in truth.❤
Before you start, run the mower dry on gas to avoid running gas through your cylinder when you tilt the mower to drain the oil.
great help thanks 👍
Sure things, so glad I could help. Appreciate your feedback and thanks for watching.👍
I want to try this but I’m not sure if it’ll work without the music??
That's funny, you can play the music in the background as you do it from the video.👍
There’s no good reason to drain the oil for the off season. If you do that you run the risk of forgetting and starting it in the spring with no oil.
Thanks for the video. The recycling tip was especially useful.
