Scientists in Thailand have been breeding and releasing baby bamboo sharks to help the endangered species survive. They are one of the smallest and least dangerous species of sharks native to the Gulf of Thailand, but bamboo sharks have become endangered because of their popularity among collectors and exotic diners. Researchers hope to increase the population of bamboo sharks and remove the species from the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s “Near Threatened” list.

Its even sadder because all sharks are on the brink of extinction
@BAN RUclips did you really say “because of white people?” Do you mean because of people? As in, a whole? It’s not just white people that eat exotic food, every race does.
@BAN RUclips actually Asians Chinese and rarely Japanese eat fin soup but even then its a travesty finning the sharks and just throwing them back alive
@BAN RUclips oh then yknow the horror of going there and seeing the ones they keep alive in tubs to fin them later while we can't even bring cameras or get close enough to save them without being arrested
Never in my dreams I thought I'd find a shark that looks cute until now

Anything shark related means endangered, sharks are getting fished out of the waters bc of poachers & people who eat them
@@icecreamwasabi for shark fin's soup. And its devastating that after cutting their fins out they will be tossed out into the ocean, dying.🥺
@@1211jinx I already knew about that, they not only die bc they’re immobile to move in the water, they’re sometimes eaten by other sharks, orcas, or bigger fish. I say bigger fish bc only around 30-50% of the ocean has been explored & there’s still a big mystery of what’s really lurking in the waters.

I never knew about this species of shark. It is pretty cool, and wholesome that Thailand is doing this to help them. I doubt a country has ever done something like this before, correct me if I'm wrong please and say which country helped which type of organism.
I'm pretty sure breeding is one of the most common ways to help endangered species, some people in America are doing that but you can look up which species
Why everything beautiful is endangered 😟
I love this, sharks are my favorite sea creatures and I'm so happy someone is trying to help prevent extinction of this incredibly important and beautiful sea creature
Let’s an automatic farm of this
Great job! Hi, from Russia with love, dear collegues from Thailand! I`m also breeding bamboo sharks, but in oceanarium, and just love to see how you`re doing the same, and also helping your nature, well done`s!
If you eat these you're actually a bad human being
If you eat sharks in general you’re a bad human being
Would interfering with the birthing process by helping them affect the way they eventually breed in the wild?
This kind of breast should be applied to ALL exotic animals, birds, mammals etc etc .. We have to restore nature before it's too late, forests the seas are all WRECKED and near disaster that cannot be reversed
nice work my salute to thailand in saving this sharks
baby bamboo shark du du du du duu..
😊
It makes me happy seeing this, coming from a family that hate sharks to the guts, I grew to worry about their fate instead of hating them. At least, there is someone else that is doing the job in keeping them safe and making sure they get to survive...
Why does your family hate them ? Sharks are awesome . . .
@@imoldgreggboosh3467 Idk man, maybe because of how the sharks eat humans. I tried to convince them that not all species of sharks eat humans, but they just scoffed at me...
BABY SHARK DU DU DU DU!
no
Maybe I'm just a softie, but it would haunt me if I ate one of those cute little things. It would be like eating a kitten, garden snake, cuttlefish, Queen Moth, etc. It's tiny and adorable and how dare you.
I hate exotic diners, they eat everything and anything just because it's different and/or it's endangered. There's no reason to eat these animals at all.
People like that make me seriously consider being Vegan (the diners)
Wow they are beautiful!!
Ngl I hate this comment section, or at least one quarter of it.
One half is in support of this and talking about the situation while the rest are people going “Mmm yummy” or making some kind of edgy joke
This is incredibly smart!! All countries should do this. It doesn't cost much to simply breed some animals, and you're evading a crisis that could threaten your country's biosphere and cultural legacy.
"Exotic diners" one day someone should disguise a Pos call it endangered animal and say it sufffered when it died..they will eat it up.
The whole video is about saving sharks and exotic can mean anything that isn't on supermarket shelves emu eggs are declared exotic lol us humans have been eating different animals for hundreds of thousands of years
especially Chinese tourlist. got to love them
They are absolutely adorable!
China will implement a new law owning that kind of species😅
Doubt it. China lacks any animal cruelty laws. They do what they want to animals and most don't care because to some of them they're just animals.
Until they get a law in place that protects the animals, this project is completely pointless.
@@spcrri4796 This project is Thailand, not china - the sharks live in the Gulf of Thailand. I think John's original comment was sarcasm, implying china would take possession of the species.
This is excellent work. Congratulations and thanks to all who help in this important conservation.
