Brake cleaner is your best friend when servicing brakes. Plus, new brakes are allowed to contain up to 35% asbestos so washing that brake dust away with brake cleaner is a good idea rather than blowing them out with compressed air 😉 A little bit of ceramic brake grease on the pivot points doesn't hurt either which allows the brakes to function smoother rather than rubbing metal on metal. If you had a metal lathe, you could've machined any groove out of the brake drum according to the "Max Outside Diameter" tolerance. Thanks for the video though, it's always nice to be able to see the process first before attempting it which makes things go so much faster even though I have the service manual 😁
You know, my daughter convinced me to buy these ATV's and I have not regreted it a minute. They are so much fun to ride and they are very handy around the farm. Thanks for watching.
I’m replacing the axle and bearings on mine right now. When I put the break shoes back into the housing everything fits, b it there is a gap in between my housing and the park with the break shoes. Do you have any idea what could cause this? I’m pretty stumped on why it’s not sitting flush
Not sure, The axle will slide from side to side so make sure its pushed in all the way. Also when I put mine back together I had to wiggle the break lever on the case to get the pads to go all the way in. Try that and see if it makes any difference.
Hi I’m doing brake shoes on my own 2007 trx 250.When I have everything replaced and I put the brake hub back into the drum it is all perfect until I use the bolts to pull the hub the last bit into the drum.When I do this the axle becomes solid and I am unable to turn it.Anyone any ideas as to what causes this?Thanks
The hub should slide back over the brake pads without needing to force them. Maybe when you are tightening the bolts it is binding the pads on the drum. Try wigleing the drum to see if you can get it to go on without having the bolts

Also try pulling the brake lever back and forth to see if the drum will slide over.
