One thing that could make this ship slightly more intriguing is if you could swap the missile bay for smaller, more plentiful missiles. 24 size 2s? 48 size 1s? 6 size 4s? Suddenly this would be so much more interesting to me. Know you are fighting a bunch of lights and mediums? Load up on size 1s. Know you are fighting mediums and heavies? Go for the size 4s. Love rattlers? You see where I am going with this.
I was so happy when I saw they were making this. The ship I originally wanted when I started playing SC was the Sabre Raven, only to find out it wasn't available. But we get a very cool variant, which is what I've been asking for since I started playing, so, yeah! Also, there is supposedly another variant of the Sabre on the way, but I have no idea when or what it is. Jared mentioned something about it last week during SCL.
I agree, so gorgeous! I went with this and a Gladius Valiant today. I am trying to resist getting the Eclipse cause I have bought ships every day lol. Enjoy!
It's too late for me. Eclipse is such a double edged sword though, amazing at one thing, terrible at everything else... and npcs are now hyper aware of incoming missiles
She does sound fun to fly. So fast. By the way, you're not seeing things about her stealth compared to Sabre's. The Firebird has a -20% signature reduction, whereas all other stealth ships have -40%. For reasons.
@OneNutSupreme I suppose that'd because the firebirb is more designed to launch missiles and pester at range with guns as backup, whereas the raven and normal sabre rely on close up attacks ( ravens emp and sabre with shooty mcshoots)
People obsess way too much about the meta. Like yeah you're probably not going to win a dogfight against someone like AvengerOne or whatever. But if you're playing to have fun, this ship brings a ton of that.
yeah so right now going 3rd person breaks missile locks, also I noticed if the lock animation plays but it doesn't audibly say 'missile lock' the missiles are not locked.
I had no intention of getting anything this Invictus. But, like you said, it's a Sabre. Instant buy. I bought a second black and gold paint for the base Sabre. It looks fantastic!
I’ve been playing with it since it came out. Spot on its a smaller eclipse that flies like an Arrow. Stealth is great for snipping missiles. It’s even great in dog fighting.
I'd love a Sabre but my concern with the Firebird is that missiles have largely been broken, temperamental things for as long as I can remember. I think I'll grab a Sabre today but I'm torn between the Firebird and the regular one.
I struggled with this but finally got keybinds to work on my hat switch on my VKB stick. If your mouse and keyboard the default key is “Z” if you have hotas or hosas you have to keybind look directions AND a freelook key like “z”. Just be aware you have to hold down the freelook while moving your view with the hatswitch or the mouse. But when you let go of the freelook key your view switches back to straight ahead immediately. I didn’t think it was working until I realised you have to hold down freelook while moving your view around. My preference would have been snap views on the hatswitch that eliminated the use of the freelook key stroke altogether. But the game is made by developer nerds and not flight sim jocks. Honestly, tobii eyetracker, etc is overpriced for what it is. A well made game shouldn’t need them.
@@Alopen-xb1rb "Honestly, tobii eyetracker, etc is overpriced for what it is. A well made game shouldn’t need them." Agreed with price being too much. TrackIR is cheaper but still expensive But "a well made game". Firstly let's remember, we're talking about Star Citizen here. I shouldn't have to say more to that. Secondly, it's more about immersion. You're not gonna be able to smoothly look via hatswitches/other notches in a HOSAS/HOTAS setup, as you would with a eye/head tracker. Thirdly, it's not a necessity at all for Star Citizen. You can do space combat and general flight, just fine without it.
@@WhatdHunterDo might be an age thing. A) I 100% agree SC is in Alpha and is not well made (thats was kinda my point originally); more importantly B) I played plenty of flight sims in the 90s and learned to use the hatswitch. There was zero eye-tracking back then. It’s second nature to me at this point. And at the current price, a VR headset has much better functionality and immersion. So hard pass on eyetracking anything for me. VR is way better for other games.
@@Alopen-xb1rb I get your points now, maybe it's because modern flight is a bit more in-depth than back in the 90's? I wouldn't know personally. I do agree with your VR stance, I just wish VR was more practical to have. As it stands it's very niche still. Would be really cool in SC one day though if that ever happens non-third party.
Well, good to see you are really happy with it. But would you choose it above the regular Sabre? Btw, if you have the Auspicious Red Sabre paint, that fits the Firebird too and is very pretty as well and more ‘firebird’ like. Vice versa, the Ashcloud paint fits the regular Sabre as well. I think this might be the prettiest ship in the verse and it flies well. However, it’s not really a ship that can punch up. Which makes it less useful imho. With the low dps output it’s just not so efficient, especially now in 3.23. But yeah, if it makes you happy, by all means fly it! It’s just not for me. Back to my Harbinger and F8C. :) But I’ll miss the good looks… Cheers o7
I don't need to pick it over the standard sabre. I have both. lol this thing is definitely a one trick pony, but I see a lot of potential for Ambushing targets and softening ground assets. Time and testing will tell.
I liked this ship so I bought it. Strangely, every missile I fire no matter which envelope misses and I die. I used EM and crossection, both basically sucked ass
It is pretty and i love the design...but man 12 missiles for a missile boat just disappoints...its half a shrike... rule of cool trumps all though so you love it get it just like any other ship
I had more fun with this ship than i have had in a while. My goodness is it fast, and turns on a dime. you know a nerf is coming, but for now, go out, open the bay doors, tilt that bitch up, put all energy into engines and squeeze that afterburner and put your foot to the floor and you will smile, i guarantee it.
Gorgeous looking, absolutely useless in combat with the state of missiles. Just took it out for a test run: all missiles missed, it’s awful in combat with the ballistics and spontaneously blew up despite me having the upper hand in that fight. Melting back to the store credit from whence it came, do better CIG, this is lame.
Idk man, I fucked shit up with this thing all night last night. Even helped a buddy with the overdrive incursions in it. It's definitely not made for a long fight, but it hits hard and leaves. This thing is an absolute monster, and people just don't see it yet.
@@OneNutSupreme Well, everybody else on my server agreed the thing isn’t hitting a barn door right now for them either, and missiles are more than borked, so just because you got lucky doesn’t mean it’s a viable ship right now. It could well be great eventually but it’s not for me or many others right now, if the missiles don’t work, it’s not much else.
Watched several try to use the firebird in less than perfect servers resulting in a sad little smoke trail show that did absolutely nothing to help them in the combat. Meaning it is a useless pretty picture. 2/10. because it at least sounds good.

Im in love with this fuckin ship man
I totally want the Saber Raven. If chance comes out, I am jumping on it. CIG has deal with Intel so maybe Intel will release another top of line SSD
I like the look but I would personally prefer the angled tail wings to be the slightly larger ones from the base Saber.
How did you get that Paint? The only way I can seem to get it is if I buy the pack of all three… which I don’t want to do.
I just searched for it in the paints search bar. But it's also a concierge paint.
Saber Firebird is cool but it needs more size 3 missles. It should have another 12 stored internally for auto reload
I hope they make another version with the loadout of the base sabre. Love my sabre but i dont like missleships.
Bro this ship sounds so fuckin good 😅 Thats one of the reasons imma buy it ❤

Get a regular one it has 2 s4 racks and 4s3 gun ports so it can fight after the missiles are spent
If you're torn between the 2 get the regular sabre. Its an amazing fighter
i bought one straight when they released it
how do you turn your camera to look where the enemy is while turning your ship? When i use freelook my ship stops turning
