There is no classical conventions for Roman numerals. In some cases subtractive notation was used (4=IV) and in others additive notation (4=IIII). The Flavian Amphitheatre (The Coliseum) in Rome even mixes both with gate 44 being labeled XLIIII, and that lack of standardization extends to modern usages. We would write 1900 as MCM but around the turn of the twentieth century many sources (including the British Admiralty) used MDCCCC. So it is not a case of knowing more than the Romans, but opting for one of many variations.

The "Comic Sans is good for people with dyslexia" thing is complicated and debatable. Most of the actual research suggests that typeface is just not particularly significant compared to text size and spacing (as long as you're not using italicised fonts, which are widely recognised to be pretty bad, and are the main thing to avoid for accessibility reasons). There's a decent (and recent) summary of the state of research by Jon Severs in the Times Educational Supplement if anyone's interested in reading more.
That said, given it's now attached to dyslexia for better or worse (whether it's actually doing anything to help dyslexic readers or not, there's definitely a perception that it does), that does make a lot of the vitriol against it leave a bit of a bad taste in the mouth. As a designer (and a person with a learning disability, although not dyslexia), I tend to think of fonts as being the typographical equivalent of tone-of-voice; in which case Comic Sans is sort of like talking to someone like a kindergarten teacher. It's not that there's no place where it's ever appropriate to talk like that, but it's worth bearing in mind that you do risk coming across as patronising or condescending when you do.

36:03 You'll find "IIII" as the Roman numeral for the number 4 on watches and clock faces. One of the reasons is this makes it easier on making templates for all the letters you'll need exactly for one clock face-- if you use IIII as a 4, you simply need one template that looks like 'X V I I I I' and bang it out four times over.
If you went with 'IV' for the 4, the symmetry gets thrown all out of whack.

1:21:00 Really? "pylons" was a dead giveaway to me. Somebody doesn't know their ancient 90s memes. "You must construct additional Pylons".
I didn't get many of them, but that Final Fantasy one just jumped out in my mind. I've played a LOT of Final Fantasy in my day.

Originally the roman numeral for 4 was IIII, it was changed to IV much later. IV had to do with a god and originally they didnt want to use it.

Neither "IIII" nor "IV" are Roman numerals IMO.
The numerals are "I", and "V". Both "IIII" and "IV" are valid and accepted ways to write "4" using those numerals. Also syntactically consistent but unorthodox ways to write "4", IMSO, are "IIIIIIX", "VIX", and "DCDXCVIM".
Also that's neat about the god, didn't know that.
EDIT: A previous version of this comment said "DCDXCIXM", instead of "DCDXCVIM". "DCDXCIXM" is "1" in Roman numerals, I believe. "DCDXCVIM" should be the correct form for "4" in Roman numerals.
