A Hindrance they prolly had was Ppl being afraid to 'go against ' Tyler Perry.. cuz he's been known to take these types of things personal 🤡. Amongst budget, & potentially under estimating what they needed to do out of clearly undermining Tyler Perry's Work..

If we think about it some of TP movies is like a parody
Or strongly stereotyping of the black community which makes his movies comical. So it’s hard to do a TP parody. That’s why it’s not funny because TP already does this in his movies 🙃
You bring up a good point about the purposeful exaggerations in TP films. THIS is funny and how do you take an exaggeration and exaggerate it further and expect more laughs?
Mickey Rourke played the main character in the Oscar nominated "The Wrestler" and in Iron Man 2 as the main villain. When i saw him and Jamie Foxx in this, I KNEW they needed that check

This may be unrelated, but one thing I have noticed about Tyler Perry is that ( I dont know how he did it) he has managed to grab good/great black actors from many different classic black films of the 90s.
I mean..... he had Cicely Tyson in his first film.
Oh, and there are plenty of ways this writer could have satirically critiqued Tyler Perry and his writing. Instead of a parody it could have been like a Hollywood Shuffle or Bamboozled.
I haven't seen this movie but off the top of my head they could have wrote a casting scene where on the side notes of a script it says mean/diabolical man and then you pan up and there is a room full of dark skin men waiting.

One thing that I will give Tyler Perry is that he was intentional about hiring Black icons and paying them well such as Maya Angelou and Cicely Tyson.

Dnt be a menace took multiple serious films and made them funny. This movie made Tyler parry movies where serious but had comedic undertones recycled. We already made fun of bruh man with the braided wigs, laughed at the old uncle in the over all and we all laughed at the woman tearing up bruh mans house after he mistreated her. We already made these jokes. I feel like he stole these joke from the American citizens. That mf need to pay us

I often feel as though being from Boston Massachusetts I can kind of see how people in southern states can uphold Tyler Perry movies because a lot of his steaming is based on black culture and Black culture primarily in the South and how stories that may have ancestral lineage to him can be told to film and television

Tyler Perry movies are already unintentional parody, and when looked at that way are actually entertaining...so to make an even more low quality parody of a parody won't work.

I believe that this channel is a great platform in foundation to have open discussion about how black people and Hispanic people and other people of color are often portrayed in movies and I'm not taking anything away from Tyler Perry and his work but I think along with a good there's a lot of bad and I don't think that's Tyler Perry should just be measured by his monetary success or his monetary games that he's acquired through film and television

Parodies are generally funny when you're taking genres that AREN'T traditionally funny and flipping them on their heads and making fun of their tropes. Marlon Wayans says all the time that great comedy comes from finding the funny within the tragedy or something serious. I think this movie would've had to play to TYLER'S stories always getting OVER THE TOP DRAMATIC. Madea is already a parody..... you can't go far with her. "DONT BE A MENACE....." Ashtray's father being younger than he is was hysterical cause we know our community has produced some super young parents. "I'M GONNA GIT YOU SUCKA" Jack Spade being treated like this big time war hero come to find out he was a secretary and never saw combat was FUNNY. NOT ANOTHER TEEN MOVIE having the "Ugly Girl" deemed a lost cause cause she wore glasses, a ponytail, and paint stained overalls was FUNNY. Comedy is HARD..... PARODIES are even harder.

I watch at least 4 or 5 movies a month in theaters and I’ve been doing it for pretty much the last 7 years excluding COVID of course.
This was the FIRST movie I’ve ever walked out on because it was just terrible.

I have seen a lot of reviews from black movie reviewers and no one liked this movie. The checks are drying up in Hollywood. There are better movies on Tubi, like Cinnamon.

Unpopular opinion but I enjoyed this movie because it felt like I was watching a high school play written by the students lol . There's something so refreshing about watching a very very low budget film without all the fluff.
I also didn't know if the low budget thrift store feel was on purpose lol considering how. Tyler loves to pinch his pennies

Tyler Perry is its own Genre so it’s not necessarily “attacking” the man but rather the Genre which was the point … Tyler is more Brilliant than “Talented” because he essentially found an audience and catered only to them, kept the cost low and made a bunch of money but the product isn’t good but it doesn’t have to be because his audience is loyal and don’t demand an upgrade in quality in story or production or even writing

Tyler Perry movies lately are as bad as this movie. There was only one recent movie that I thought was ok. And that was the movie about the woman that could pass for white. Jazzman's Blues. That movie was better than Acrimony, A Fall from Grace, Mea Coulpa, Temptation.
I would not pay to see the parody movie in theaters or Amazon. And the last TP movie I paid for was the Madea Witness Protection movie.
This movie is running neck and neck with the Netflix Tyler Perry Movies. I can't support either one just because they're black.
The crazy thing for me is that TP's oeuvre is rich with material to parody and actually be funny. I have secondhand embarassment from these clips. Yikes.

A good idea for a movie, poorly executed…. The Tyler Perry Genre was well overdue for a parody
It wasn’t a dig a Tamela Mann… in the movies and plays they actually make Cora a bit bigger with padding along with the other lady that plays in some of the movies and Tyler Perry/Madea makes constant references to it …. The movie was terrible but it’s almost like you guys have a weird Tyler Perry bias even though you guys have trashed his movies

It's one thing to do an episode--The Boondocks was well known for that--but an entire movie? 🤭 I don't think there's any getting Tyler in line. He is gonna do what he wants and the level of money he's making makes it damn near impossible for anyone to stop him.
