I am in shock as well as in awe of what this "Ol' Timer" has found and been hidden away for so many years. Thank you for giving us a glimpse into what you are even seeing. I love it!
You hit that on the head Kayla. What's astounding is that I go back tomorrow to video the stuff even I haven't seen yet. And if it's HALF of what I've been told, it's far better (but not more volume) than what we've already seen. Stay tuned . . .
😊When you made the bang as you were inspecting that shell l nearly jumped out of my skin. Keep up the great job.l visited some Southern graves and areas around Georgia where battles took place. The best holiday l have ever had. I am now 70 and English/Limey as you guy say..
Well never before in all my 60+ years have I had goosebumps for 17 minutes straight. That is such a magnificent collection I can only wish that it be photo'd, explained and put in print. I cannot be the only one who would pay for such a treasure. But for now I will surely download and save these videos so I can refer to them if I ever get lucky enough to unearth something like this. Thank you BW.
The first video had me spending more time paused than rolling but this one gave me goosebumps. Can't wait to see what's coming next. Only in books and museums have I seen such American history.
That is priceless history and it all has a story! I was raised in a neighborhood in Baltimore that was created after they destroyed Fort Marshall and raised a church and built public schools with the materials. In 2015, there was an Uprising in town. In 1861 a similar event was called the Pratt Street Riot of the Civil War. Great collection - great video!
Wow ms! You were surrounded by6 some pretty great history yourself! Imagine the buildings you lived in and visited, being made with those "witness materials"! Thank you for your kind words!
How cool is this whole idea. I had a relic hunt friend that gave me a NC sunburst button and I was in hog heaven, this guy gets a one of a kind collection, lol Happy for him. Hopefully he will have a museum?
Second, I have just recently found you guys and as a history buff, focus on The Civil War, I am in heaven! I absolutely love your videos. Thank you for your hard work, not only putting these videos together but going out and finding these gems. I live vicariously through you guys!!
PS forgot to say I love the videos. It is fun to see you guys going through an old time digger collection. It reminds me of some of the old collections I saw back in the day. You have to tell your friend to relax a little bit when it comes to those shells. Yes some of them are still “live” but they did not detonate when they were fired, they did not detonate when they were dug, they did not detonate in the trunk of the car coming back from the dig and they did not detonate in that hot room. The odds of any of them spontaneously detonating now are very, very, very remote. The most dangerous time around them now is when they are getting drilled for deactivation. You did the right thing though when you unscrewed the anvil cap on the one shell. If you can get that cap off you can pull the percussion cap off the slider nipple and the fuze is deactivated.
Agreed 100% Hoarder. I know of only three ways guys have died with CW ordnance: (1) Botched attempt to drill or deactivate (2) One guy dug one in the black muck of a swamp and he put it on his woodstove to "dry it out." And forgot about it.... (3) In the 60s in Mississippi a guy was walking in a heavy wind and an unknown 24# cannonball was dislodged from a treetop where it had been for 100 years. It fell out of the tree, hit him smack on top of the head and killed him instantly.
I figured somebody sensitive would bust my chops for that (Making fun of a dangerous situation, etc.) but I put three disclaimers in there, and I wanted to have some fun, so heck with 'em. I LOVE that you jumped. Thank you. That brought a smile to my face! Side Note: My wife actually gasped and yelped! I said, "Obviously I'm sitting right here with you, so I'm not dead..." Thank you. That brought a smile to my face!
Your little ordnance prank made me jump out of my skin. I grew up in Vicksburg, MS a mere 20 Yards from the border of National Civil War Military Park. We, primarily my two older brothers, used to walk the creeks (off park property) and find all kinds of stuff including ordnances. Momma and Daddy wouldn't let us keep in the house as what you related regarding danger was commonly known. Pretty sure there where construction permit stipulations that if "something" was discovered it had to been inspected by a park historian to determine its status. At 62, my collection is NO WHERE like this gentleman's! Great video series.
I'm sorry Greg, but you made my day! GREAT stories about Vicksburg . . . WOW! I had similar experiences growing up in Cold Harbor. But I never found a shell as a child - my sister did! And thank you sincerely for the kind words!
I watched part 1 of this series and shared it with my brother and nephew. We are in awe of this collection and would not miss any of the future episodes. You have our attention for sure. Thank you for sharing this with us. Until next time, keep digging.
I'm looking forward to the next video. I'm a new subscriber having just watched the video showing these relics for the first time and was overwhelmed. Most of these things I have never seen.
Wow wow wow. It must be a privilege to be able to see and handle all of this man’s collection. It truly belongs in a museum for all to enjoy!!! Can’t wait till the next video!!! Great job!!!
Never gets old seeing such well kept artifacts. The White Oak Museum out of Fredericksburg Va had a killer collection like this, but when the owner died i think it got split up. Thanks as always for sharing BW...
I sat watching this video with goosebumps and tears in my eyes. Just the excitment and awe of seeing these relics or holding the history in your hands. Thank you buddy for these videos. *Chris*
This by far the most amazing collection of civil war era collection I ever seen! May even be one the best RUclips video of 2023! Question for you would still gentleman have any of the original photos of the civil war era!? Thanks Nate
Great question Nate, and the answer is I have not seen any period photos from that era. I assume you are meaning Daguerreotypes, Tintypes, Ambrotypes and Carte de visites? None so far, but no period COINAGE either. I think there are some hidden things we haven't found yet...? Hey and thanks for the "Best Video" vote. I'm FRAMING this comment!
I read in the last video where someone made the comment that this should be in a museum but not everything has to be in a museum. This is truly an amazing collection of artifacts and I'm happy for your friend!
By the time ya’ll get that all out, your biceps are going to be buff! Those shells are incredible and can only imagine the havoc they caused! Loved how everyone scattered when you became The Battlefield bomb tech! As always, enjoyed yet another fantastic video. Thanks for the sweat and hard work you put in Yo! Keep walking and digging!
My father showed me your last video, I am so amazed by this! Did a lot of battlefield visits but never got a chance to hunt or dig. This gives me somewhat of a feel as to what it’d be like, just awesome!
Oh my!!! I just ran into your video. I'm gonna have to go watch the other video everyone's chatting about!! Thank you for sharing this great adventure!! Btw, you have a new subscriber!!

Wow, had some old time friends who started in the 60's and amassed impressive collections but nothing like this. Finding an undiscovered campsite no matter how small is a thrill, this guy must have have found hundreds of such places and had access to some impressive camps and battle sites.
Thanks for scaring the S--t out of me Walker lol. Dam. Well you should have been here for my REACTION , when you were unscrewing the fuse out of that Parrot Schell , lol Hilarious gotta admit that was clever hahahah. welp can't wait for the next video , Thank You so Much !
What an amazing video. The gentleman that detected all that cool stuff has a chance at some good spots in day as each day goes by it gets harder and harder to find good relics. Down south all areas have been pounded by detectorists. But still a cool hobby thanks for sharing David blackburn
Great job gentlemen, looking forward to the next one. Sitting on that Willy's jeep, I'm sure you were a fan of "mail call "and R. Lee Ermey, I was in Vietnam when he was and a fan. Actually met Carlos Hancock on hill 55 in 69. Keep up the good work.
You're welcome it was my turn my dad was at the Battle of the Bulge my uncle fought in Peilu, Guadalcanal and Okinawa I turn down my scholarships to go to med school and enlisted in the Marine Corps
I have a civil war campsite I'd like to detect pretty soon it was where General McNeil and the 2nd Brigade was camped to intercept general price leaving the Battle of Westport I researched it and I believe I have the right spot can't wait to get out there
Good to know BirdDog, Ill pass it along! What would you charge for two 10" CS mortar balls? Keep in mind, some of these shells have been DRY for 40 years!
Wow! The ordnance alone is remarkable. What a special treat. After the collection is moved, do you know if it will ever be available for public display?
260,000 views???? had to be the cat! told you they were good for views lol. what an amazing, amazing collection. could you possible do a close up of the helmets for us helmet nuts?
Yes you DID. You predicted that cat would put me on the map! Filming two more episodes next week. So if the helmets aren't buried, I'll shoot them for you bro!
Neat but I never wanted to handle any of the shell in case my info on them was wrong and boom . I hope they were render safe years ago. cool that it's coming back into the light to be seen again.
@@thebattlefieldwalker2841 Hi thanks for the reply l am just amazed at how much he has collected over the years would love to know when he started and at what age the collection is vast, will you be able to do a video when you have moved it in to its home the arrow heads l found fantastic but the amount shocked me. Thanks again 👍
@@petertatham-cw2oq I will try to find all of that out. Several have asked me to do one entire episode just on HIM. I'm working on this thing as hard as I can!
That's What I Would Do. . . . . Photograph All Of What You Have And Make Books Out Of The Photographs So That You Get Your Money 💸💰 Out Of It And Either Donate Or Sell The Entire Collection To A Museum Because That Is Where This Collection Belongs A Museum So That Everyone Can See It ♥️
Man what a collection. To have the privilege to just move that stuff and gaze at it is awesome. I really want to find a buckle or plate. Either.. lol and if I get to be picky about it. I want it to be a NC lol
My eyes looked like the girls eyes as you kept pulling out more and more relics! The artillery shells,, I must say spooked me even though YOU know what you're doing LOL! Indeed what a find! Now, Questions. 1. Has a value been put on this entire collection? 2. Will this collection be broken up? 3. Will it be displayed or again stored away where no one can ever see it again? Sorry , but your videos just brings out lots of questions now from your many many viewers. I can't wait for your next video! Thanks so so much!
Tom, I appreciate your comments! (1) No. I have no idea of current prices. But estimates are sky-high I bet. (2) Absolutely not! (3) The plan is display. But it will be a long process of constructing a very secure place with lots of security cameras!
@@thebattlefieldwalker2841 Thank you for your quick response. The current price is, PRICELESS, until you get a good appraiser. I am so glad that it won't be broken up! And for sure, a very secure, cameras everywhere location. Probably you will be contacted by some museum asking you to hide it with them, DON"T DO IT. Good luck and keep bringing us this once in a lifetime find!
Amazing 😍!!! Don't know which ones to talk about. How about the belt plate with cut corners, wd be great to find out if it's 1812 or earlier, or when it was issued. Would love to have been with him when he found some of those. Probably the biggest, most extensive collection that stayed with the original finder to date( as far as our civil war goes.) Thanks again guys
Marv, this story just keeps growing. There's more to come, and I agree. Few collections have stayed together. As for the clipped corner, somebody is gonna chime in who knows . . .
Hi , I purchased a 6 pound Borrman shell off eBay a few years back. It came from Vicksburg. When I got it the fuse was blown out and the under plug was not slotted, but solid. The seller stated it was a Federal round. I could never find a place where the ball was drilled. I contacted the seller about it possibly being live, but he never answered back. Since then I replaced the fuse with a period replacement, but I always wondered if it is still loaded. The seller was very reputable, but is no longer on eBay. Do you think the under plug may be a replacement and it was defused that way. Thanks. Doug
Doug, without seeing the underplug, I'd be afraid to venture a guess. You're fine unless there's a housefire or somebody tries to drill it. If it IS a replacement underplug, get a reputable guy to drill the lead underplug. You'll never see it with a top fuse. An expereinced guy around here would do that for about $25 since lead is soft, easy and doesn't spark. Still gotta be super careful about a hot drill bit tho . . .
I am in shock as well as in awe of what this "Ol' Timer" has found and been hidden away for so many years. Thank you for giving us a glimpse into what you are even seeing. I love it!

@@thebattlefieldwalker2841 $50 each to drill them for 10” mortars if you transport them to the site in north Georgia (off I-75)
what a great collection. just lost of words. ill be watching more of this and thanks for sharing with everyone. what was that noise at 10.55
Hmmm. I'll listen and get right back to you . . .
Ha! That sounded ghostly, but I remembered it when I heard it. Mudduck was mesmerized, and he said very low and quiet, "wooooooooooooooooooow."
And thank you for the good words, Danny!
Wow! The ordnance alone is remarkable. What a special treat. After the collection is moved, do you know if it will ever be available for public display?
Gary, that is the hope of the new owner. We'll see . . .
For the sake of all humanity, keep this stuff safe!!!!
The new owner is doing his best, David! Thanks for the comment and your interest!
@@thebattlefieldwalker2841 looking forward to it! thanks!
STILL GREAT CONTENT❤🇬🇧
Thanks Gerry! Going back tomorrow to film what I haven't seen yet . . .
Neat but I never wanted to handle any of the shell in case my info on them was wrong and boom . I hope they were render safe years ago. cool that it's coming back into the light to be seen again.
I hear you Dav!
Hi l am from the UK l understand the confederate and union war but you’re looking at is fastening it’s amazing to see this thanks for videoing this.😊
Peter, Hello from across the pond! So cool that you are enjoying this collection from so far away! Thanks for the kind words!
That's What I Would Do. . . . . Photograph All Of What You Have And Make Books Out Of The Photographs So That You Get Your Money 💸💰 Out Of It And Either Donate Or Sell The Entire Collection To A Museum Because That Is Where This Collection Belongs A Museum So That Everyone Can See It ♥️
Thanks Sean. The inheritor will def not sell it or split it up. It stays together, as it deserves!
Man what a collection. To have the privilege to just move that stuff and gaze at it is awesome. I really want to find a buckle or plate. Either.. lol and if I get to be picky about it. I want it to be a NC lol
Dewey, you and me and every other digger in the world wants to stumble across a NC!
@@tomjones2202 Thanks! Not my stuff, but boy am I having fun helping to go through it!
Can I say just one word: "SPEECHLESS"
I love that word ERic! Thank you.
fantastic collection. As a re-enactor I am interested to see what the collection tells us as to what is accurate in re-enacting, and what is not...
Grace, what an interesting angle. Please share with me if something stands out to you in that regard!
As for the clipped corner, somebody is gonna chime in who knows . . .
I’m interested in seeing any surgical instruments as my 3 rd G Grandfather was a Union Assistant Regimental Surgeon , part of Sherman’s March to Sea.
Oddly, I haven't seen anything medical yet Amy!
Still gotta be super careful about a hot drill bit tho . . .
Stunning collection ,does everything stay together to the new place?
YES Steve! EVERYTHING. Good news, right?
@@thebattlefieldwalker2841 oh yes very ,good choose imho
That's just awesome, unfortunately there is no civil war relics up here by lake Erie so I collect Indian artifacts
But Dave, yours are WAY older, and just as cool!
