i 100% agree, i absolutely loved sims 3 but Sims 2 definitely walked so the sims 3 could run. it was a great time to be a pre-teen when this game first dropped.
I have the same feelings about sim games. As a kid I loved sims 2 so much and I was so excited with each expansion pack release. So when sims 3 was coming out I was so sure it would be an improved and modernised version of sims 2 but I got so disappointed with both sims 3 and 4. My gameplay always focused around creating memories and interesting family trees and family history. Without that the gameplay feels so empty and I get so bored. Also I loved seeing how same events could be positive to one sim and negative for another sim. And unpredictability of sims 2 was really adding so much to the gameplay. And even the graphics that are maybe more primitive in sims 2 but it feels like theres an actual 3D world in the game. Sims 3 was just straight up ugly and kinda too dark? And sims 4 is so cartoonish that it kinda has some 2D vibe (like fake 3D made with 2D graphics). I really wish there could be a game with the same feeling as sims 2 but just modernised
Same here. However by this point I gave up on the idea that there could be, so I'm trying to look at every upcoming life simulation game with fresh eyes - do I like what the product offers specifically? Is it fun to play? Even if it doesn't match the vibe, as long as I can get fun from it, I'm taking it, however, nostalgia is strong and I'm heavily indulging in The Sims 2 this month. I'm taking it slow, building my own buildings, setting up stories and enjoying this more than I ever did The Sims 3, or The Sims 4.
@@mirta000 oh yeah I agree I also gave up. I meant it more as an unrealistic wish. It’s been 20 years after all huh on the other hand it’s really amazing how this game is still standing strong and many ppl enjoy playing it
The sims 2 was made with more love than the later iterations. Don’t get me wrong, 3 was revolutionary with how much it added but it was the small details that made sims 2 so charming. Sims 4 gave us nothing lol:
Oh my! I was surprised to see that you uploaded this! I thought it was a Simmer youtube channel before I looked who uploaded it. I have been playing the franchise since 2003, when I was 8. I love this video so much because only simmers will get the nostalgia. Shout out to all of the occultists & witches who also succumb to the mundane art of simming ❤😅
Buried deep, deep beneath the crust of this channel should be some The Sims 2 lets play videos from a land far far away, when I was like... 16. If you go digging, you can still find them (I think) :D
@@mirta000 definitely gonna go watch them hahaha I was a Sims 2 machinima creator on here in 2006-2009 and made a teen goth drama series on a channel I once had 😅
I first started playing Sims 2 in 2005 (when I finally got myself a computer!) and have never stopped. The gameplay is engaging and, yes, the unexpected things that can happen just make the game better. The bad chance card that causes your family to lose all of their money and then the nanny gets pissed that you don't have the money to pay her so she steals the toddlers highchair. Or the very pregnant sim that is invited to her brother's wedding and decided to flirt with some man Other than her husband while said husband is right behind her thus causing a lot of anger that must be worked through if they are to stay together (or maybe they don't depending on how things work out). The burglar that shows up and makes you realize you never bought a burglar alarm. Yes, all those things add to the different family histories and to the gameplay itself. I have a Prosperity Challenge neighborhood that I've been running since 2016. I'm on 3rd generation right now and there are over 200 sims in that neighborhood. Every household is played rotationally. I love being able to watch the children grow, watching how different sims relate to other sims, how some families are very close while others drift apart. All the little things that make them interesting and keep me coming back to play some more and keep me excited to get in and play each family. I tried Sims 3 eventually and I really wish I could say I liked it but I never got into it the way I got into Sims 2. I tired. There are aspects of Sims 3 I really like. The open world, the different animals and things your sims can collect, the imaginary friend doll, the pets. But I never liked the idea of other families living their lives without me. I like my rotational play. And I really feel that the supernatural creatures in Sims 2 were better than in Sims 3. All except the witches and warlocks whom might actually be an improvement. I never even tried Sims 4 and they haven't done anything with that game to make me want to. I suppose I will continue to play my sims 2 until my computer seizes up or until the neighborhood becomes so bloated I can't play it anymore. It's hard to believe the game is 20 years old now and still has a lot to give to players.
Agreed. It can take a while to figure out what's a group activity and what is not (for object based activities that you don't get by just clicking on another sim), but when you do, you have a roster of stuff that your sims can do together and interact with each other without multi-tasking that it rivals that of The Sims 4, where multi-tasking is their main advertisement for the game.
Released in 2024? I meant 2004! Brain! BRAIN!

the sims 2 had more interactive options with sims and animations with so much emotion the sims feel like real people. The sims in 3 and 4 feel very AI
