- How to plasti dip wheels matte black - Tara just got her 2011 BMW M3 convertible and has started the modding! She uses the index card method with the wheels removed from the car. See her very first plasti dip video from 5 years ago for more details on this method.
I think the factory wheels look great.

You should get them powder coated in gloss black, the 220Ms actually look pretty good in gloss black.

I know the wheels are only temporarily on the car but, I fitted spacers to mine. 12mm rear, 15mm front, makes it look beefier
I discovered there are spacers on the front. Probably 8mms.
Are they hubcetric? If they are not you’ll probably feel a bit of vibration

Spacers yup, I have garage line spacers on my Veloster 20mm front and 25mm rear. When it gets warmer Ill put the 25mm in front to help the car corner better and put the 20mm in the rear. Im running plus 1 on tires, 225 45 17 instead of the 215,s big difference in ride and handling. Get a Veloster N as a second car. Guys love girls into cars!

Looks great, especially for a temporary dealio, and I can't imagine anyone is going to notice a difference from across the street. It's what I plan on doing with my next vehicle, with their metalizer.

Tara looks good. Here is a trick, if you get over spray and the best way to remove plasti dip is use WD40. WD 40 will disolve and losen plasti dip.

Nice job, black wheels are much better, I think I’ll do mine. I’ve redone them a couple times in silver but the preparation was painful and took days of rubbing down. Plastidip looks a bit simpler to apply so I’ll deffo give it a shot. You’ve persuaded me.

TVTara really??? IMO, those wheels are really makes the M3 look like an M3. You might try using a gloss clear coat over the plasti-dip to make cleaning MUCH easier.

You should also plasti-dip the chrome kidney grill. It looks better without the chrome in my opinion. The wheels came out really nice though.

@@TVTara the way you done it was a hole lot simpler. I couldn't figure out how to do it at first. Didn't want to pay a shop for something I can do my self. Watching your video makes the process a lot easier.
Nice job Tara. One thing I did notice is that the brake discs are on the wrong side, as in the way the holes are orientated.

A 5 or 7 spoke type wheel that is hyper silver would look really good.

i plasti dip my m3 wheels as wheel its a pain to remove, make sure to use lots of coats, and i found removing it easier with a power washer

It is my daily. I think mod it a bit more than the last. Also hope to track it but that gets expensive!

Any cons to using index cards where the plastidip doesn't coat where the cards were touching? I've read that a lot of people use tire gel to make the dip easy to peel off. Getting ready to dip my winter wheels here in Vancouver!

Can you leave a link to the products you used? And how hard is it to remove them?
It’s plasti dip in black. You can get it really cheap in the US at many stores. It’s not hard to get off but maybe a little annoying.
how has it held up over 2 years? did the plasti dip last or do you have to recoat?
I have not had to recoat yet!
Are you able to wash them with rim cleaner or just soap and water after you dipped them? Also..did it start to peel after a few months?
Just soap and water. They didn’t peel for a couple years, then I did a tiny touch up only where it was peeling a bit.

I said in the video I would wait a couple hours but I was hungry and only waited maybe 30 minutes 😂
I plastic dipped my window trim and it's terrible, wishing I paid for it to be painted haha - good temp wheels but nothing beats powdercoated if you can afford it!
If I was keeping them, I would powder coat, but I don’t plan to.

Not the whole thing. Just touched up the parts that were obviously visible from the front.
Sorry but i dont like plasti dip at all. Just looks so cheap especially on a classy car like a BMW. You should get the wheels properly powder-coated.
But I don’t plan to keep them so why spend money on them?

Plastic dipping your wheels black makes your M3 looks more mean and aggressive. Smart choice in plastic dipping your wheels instead of powder coating. Since it's not permanent like powder coating

Hyper silver or gunmetal wheels look better ! Black wheels you can't see the detail of the rims ! Silver or gunmetal look good sitting still or rolling!

This woman is so hot! Works on her own car👌 Are factory BMW wheels heavy? Maybe that's why she doesn't love them. A set of quality aftermarket performance wheels are usually lighter and look better anyway if you choose the right ones.
Hmm I’ve never noticed if they are much heavier. I just don’t like the look of these ones. Still can’t afford new ones yet though!

Yes the body differences are very subtle. Of course I wouldn’t mind something newer but 2011 was all I could afford. And yes a 335i could be modified to go faster but overall I’m excited about an m3. The color can and likely will be changed so it’s not so meh!
Well its your car and youre money. Whatever makes you happy. The e92 in the Uk are overpriced and i dont see the point in owning one when the 335I is more bang buck. Not sure if the states got the 335i is Manual thou.
to get a decent 2011 -12 m3 (DCT, the only good thing about the m3) in the Uk your going to be paying around 23-27k where for that cash you can get a c63. But top on the vlogs
I’m in Canada and I have driven a manual 335i here. Yes definitely more bang for the buck as the m is really expensive here too.

@@TVTara 100% they are expensive but spraying plastic on a bmw m series is like installing an LPG gas system on a Ferrari to save money, you could trade your bmw wheels in and put a few hundred on top for nice wheels that's what I did to my 07 335 convertible

I sold my last wheels I plasti dipped so don’t know how long it lasted but I plasti dipped my lower grille and it was very durable and looked good. No regrets.
I plastic dipped my wheels, oh my what a pain to get the stuff off. I rubbed my finger prints off and had blisters for days. Never again.
People who say never use plastidip are the people who dont know how to use it
@@---DW--- you don't need to know how to plasti dip in order to remove it. The removal is the horrible part. I work for car customizing company. Couple of cars had come with plastic dip wheels and you'll take hours to remove it
Arshaad Creighton...if the removal is hard, its because it wasnt prepped and applied correctly in the first place. If you found it hard then its because the person who did it has done it wrong, thats not the products fault.
