HP is one of the worst companies in terms of overpriced ink. On black Friday they had a ink jet printer for $29 but a set of ink is like $50
Not true. This thing has toner that is $16 per refill and gives you 2,500 pages. Everything that I usually hate about printers, like what you stated, is not the case with this printer.
I returned it immediately too
hp- Horrible Problems
HP even started locking down third party cartridges with a firmware update.
Ooof, an HP means there is definitely DRM on the toner reload kit. That just got remarkably more expensive. Easy refills in this case means locking out much, much cheaper third party toner refills.
The toner reload is like a pack and you just reload the contents inside it like a pack of rice. It’s a promising move from them and hope they go with this route
It’s so inexpensive that I can’t imagine there being tons of savings anyways going with a third party
The drum is rated by HP as 20,000 pages and currently is priced at $70.99. Part Name is "HP 144A Black Original Laser Imaging Drum" and Part Number is listed as "W1144A."
This one basically an advertisement. Many of the printer companies design their printers to stop working where the cost of repair is so high that you are forced to buy a new product.
It clearly states that it's a sponsored showcase. Despite that, I've been using this as my main printer since I made this video with no issues so far.
@@ThisIsTechToday that's actually helpful to know it's lasted you a year already!
When I first viewed this video, I do not recall seeing any information stating that it was a promotional video. I just saw the beginning of the video again just now, at it has a voice over and a banner saying that it is a sponsorship video. Also, one year is not a long time.
You're definitely one of the most underrated tech RUclipsr man! Keep up the good work buddy. 💙
Thanks so much, friend!
Honestly yes. He goes really indepth in what he speaks. He should honestly have more subscribers 🤔
Thank you!
My last pieces of HP equipment failed just days after the guarantee expired. Below "mileage" laser printer/scanner, just blinking, turning on/off. While my Kyocera and Epson keeps working after 10 years.
I am not sure if I am just unlucky with HP, but if I look for a laptop or printer, my search is "NOT HP" by default.
Sorry, I know it is a sponsored video and all, but that's my experience of 30+ years of computer use. My last HP was bought about 8 years ago, so quality control might have changed since then. My opinion is not.
Having worked for 2 large copier companies, I've honestly never been impressed either. 🤷🏽♀️
Mine too
Holy shit! You're at 127k and you're doing a sponsorship for a giant tech company? Well deserved. Good stuff, brother.
Thank you so much, Ben! So thankful!
I work for one of the largest manufact/tech companies globally and ALL of our printers are HP. I have been an administrator over 20yrs used all sorts of printers. I love HP my deskside printer at work, which is HP pagewide. Never had a single issue with any of our printers. I have battled with Brother and a few other brands. Bought an HP laptop about 7yrs ago still a little work horse. I am purchasing a new HP laptop and printer tomorrow for my home business. I love this brand and have not been let down by their products. The printer unit, ink cost, ppm on HP is the best. Just read the specs on your chosen model to see if it is a good fit.
Would you recommend this model or go for color laser and if so which model? For home use and not very often printing!
Misleading review that is ignoring the current situation around HP Neverstop 1200 line. All the reviewers seem to adopt HP's tech specs and publishing their reviews without veryfing the most important product details. Unfortunately, the consumers had to call out all the flaws of this product. I will not comment on its connection problems, out of paper error fault, bad print quality and go to the core - the print economy. Even with 5% page coverage (according to HP statement) you will NEVER be able to achieve 2500 pages per refill (or 5000 at full tank). In fact, you will struggle to get to 1200. HP tries to convince the consumers that their new firmware solves this but it only does so at the expense of print quality which was below average already. The reviewers should prevent people from buying bad products.
I don’t do paid reviews. This is not a review at all but a showcase. I’ll see if I can reach out to HP for clarification on this but will keep your comment here for now.
@@michaelkopec.5814 No normal person would do that, lmao. What a waste that would be. I use it like a normal person. Chill.
About time!!! I find a REAL review instead of these annoying top 5 or 10 videos with stock photos and regurgitated specs marketing spwes
Thanks
Sounds interesting. But why is there no duplex unit in the printer? I make my savings with printing both sides of the paper. Just with a click in the options.
That's fair. I know they're trying to go for high volume printing for businesses that print things like invoices and what not like doctors offices, small businesses, etc. Usually not. a ton of room and usually one-sided print outs.
Man that sucks
I bought this printer a couple of weeks ago. I love it. It is like a piece of art. Its design took my attention when I was walking around the store. It is so pretty. And it works just as a printer should work. All in one.
Very promising technology. I'll be eagerly waiting for generation two when it has Ethernet and duplex printing & copying.
Do you have any idea what those cost look when you add the cost of regularly replacing the drum?
I love the quality of laser at work, and want to buy one for the family, but we'd only print a dozen pages a week. Is this bad for a laser printer? Does the toner go bad if not used?
You never mention that when print 20,000. You have replace the drum at cost of 74.00
Glad you figured it out for yourself. Look at how resourceful you are!
This leads to a huge question: Is there guaranteed pricing on the 'refills' that they sell? Is it some sort of contract that you establish with HP for guaranteed pricing *and* guaranteed refills, say X amount of refills per year?
I understand that this is a business-focused product, mainly SOHOs, as larger industries probably need a lot more from their printer machines, particularly duplex, scanning, and high volume printing. But even at the initial price point for the printer itself, I don't really understand how this can be feasible, when other off the shelf products by HP themselves have products that have more features, and yet the toner is exorbitantly priced.
Also, since you are using this as a daily, I'm assuming you'll have a followup video showing how well it has performed, including actual page yield from the initial toner, as well as overall longevity, but I really want to see how well that 2500 page refill actually pans out.
Great job at a review while not appearing to be a shill - but that is your trademark, isn't it?
My HP M477nfw laser keeps losing wifi and the ePrint shuts off and I have to keep power cycling it to reestablish connections. The USB drive for extended memory never auto formats to what is needed for the printer to use it! The direct print is nice and when it stays connected it makes great copy. I still have the original black toner 2 years now! LD toner has large capacity cartridges for only $35!
I don’t like thinking about printers lol
Me either, but I actually like using this thing. What's happening to me?!
This is Tech Today stay at home changes us all (for better and worse)
5000 pages from the prefilled cartridge that comes with the printer but then only half on the refills? sounds kinda fishy ngl, why can't they just let me buy a 5000 page one for $30?
I just want a laser printer (it HAS to be laser) that I can be confident that the company won't just suddenly discontinue the toner carts for. So far this one sounds closest to what I want. Problem is, it's monochrome.
monochrome is good, you only need black toner. Color is way more expensive, with 4 colors toners. Also note that printers with separate drum, can cost you more, if drum gets worn or scratches. It may be rated for 20000 pages, but a defect can force you to replace much sooner.
@@nilsfrahm1323 I want to do color toner-transfer "crafts" (for lack of better word), for example put graphics back onto faded antique radio dials or (interior) car parts.
Did you find your printer since then ? I'm looking exactly for that. A cost effective multi-function color laser printer
in HP you get problems..... money reapers
the printers turned out to be a complete GARBAGE and money reaperds
if it had the scanner automatic feeder I would but it right now!
I don't have no use for a printer right now, but I want to get it lol
Nice commercial
Thanks! It is sponsored by HP
"Sponsored by HP" stop doing this!
You mean…following FTC rules and disclosing when a brand sponsored a video? You’re asking me to lie to you and break the law?!
I bought my 3rd hp printer 4 months ago.. Threw it away today.. Biggest pieces of SH** .. Never Again
Brother HL are the best laser printers, they are the most reliable. It's a high investment, but great for the long run.
Error: This unit does NOT have a fax modem. You said "copy, scan, fax" in your review.
The title should be This could be the last printer you'll ever buy from Hp 🤒
Theeee old bait n switch…yup lol lol lol …
I’ve thrown more printers out than any other piece of tech…I thought it was just me
no chip on toners
Do I hate printers? Here's a clue. I once threw an Epson down the stairs. Now I'm having problems with my Canon so looking at a laser.
😅
Love the idea. Lost me at no double sided printing or Ethernet port for the price point.
You used the term exponentially incorrectly. The growth is linear. From a guy with a degree in applied mathematics.
Does it at least do booklet printing manually?
dont buy hp they put chips in cartridge to pricegouge you
You sold that printer to me :-) I like it so far
That's so great to hear! I just used it this weekend!
I like that you are more active on RUclips (posting more videos)
Trying, not sure how much I can do but trying more bite sized videos. Great to hear you like it!
@@ThisIsTechToday I dont like it I LOVE IT 😉
Does it print on transparency?
Duplex is missing, this is bad for a bussines sprinter.
“Hp always stop”
My experience has been that the printer is an absolute piece of crap. Connecting it to a network requires an act of God. Constantly failing, stopping, what can I say, another perfectly fine HP product that will be replaced with the newer crappier model....
Aw, dang. Sorry to hear that man. I personally haven't had that experience, truly, but I'm bummed that it's working out that way for you.
doesn’t do duplex printer. I would never buy this for that reason.
Brandon you put a lot of emotions into your thumbnails haha.
That's my actual face, lol. I smile a lot in real life.
I just saw a review and it said no color. Just thought I would share.
I WILL NEVER BY A HP PRODUCT AGAIN THEY SUCK AND BRAKE AND SUCK SO BAD! WAS THE WORST BUY OF MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!!! F HP!!!!! NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!
hp is like a disposable printer... you know why?? i already did everything when it not turning on... we use it a few times... and now we are so confuse why did not turning on when we really need it... the cord was not broken, we ddo the few step troubleshoot,, and till now it sucks!! we cant use it... can you make a printer that it worth the price!!! you liar!!!
Why are there so many dislikes?
Printers are the true enemy of mankind
I honestly used to think that until this one. 100% the truth.
bought this cause of you... thanks!!!
Nice! So glad it helped!
its a shame its not a color laser printer.. if it was, I would purchase it.
That would be aweeeeesome.
If you ship a lot of things get a thermal printer bud.
But what about the **LIFESPAN** of the printer? Environmentalists need to realize that the best thing we can do is stop making hardware as a service and make tech that is both long lasting and serviceable, user serviceable if possible.
I've been using it since I've made this video and it's still going strong just as well as when I first used it. Not sure how to determine the lifespan of a printer.
@@ThisIsTechToday, thanks for the reply. Almost two years -- that's a good start. Determining lifespan just takes usage. Repeat business with a company should determine how well made their products are. I used to get nearly a decade out of my old Epson Stylus 900 inkjets back in the day. Five years out of my Brother laser. Thanks for the review!
Hey does this printer work with shirts ?
It's a Laser printer
Mine broke after 2 weeks of using it. This printer sucks.
Good video, but what a joke that this printer is now discontinued. Printers suck... really bad. Like really, really bad.
This was very convincing. I’m definitely considering one now.
I still use it in the regular!
Too bad you cant buy it anymore...
oh, dang? I guess it stopped, LOL.
I'm still using the same printer and it's still kickin'.
I miss the, "hey friends BRANDON HERE"
lol, sorry
why not just use insta ink hp printers?.....they ship you refills for $3.99/mo. subscription for 50 colour prints...
Never an HP printer - 0 customer service and horrible software
Great video, thanx!
well sponsored videos leery of so on to more videos to find reliable easy to take apart to clean or whatever Linux friendly printer
Lol. Linux.
@@ThisIsTechToday yea windows got to nasty to say the least and apple is not an o option at all. God bless
Sponsored tho.....🤨
Yeah. It's this thing where people are able to get paid to make content you watch for free so they can live and eat just like you. It’s a wild concept getting paid for the work you do. I know. Are you lacking validity because you get paid for your work?
Sponsored content, hardly objective.
It's a showcase, it's not supposed to be a review.
lol
