If you're wondering, this is a total remake of the video I put out 2 days ago. After a bit of dicussion in the comments I decided that the video wasn't really up to the standards I wanted so I started again from scratch and put a bit more time into it, and overall I at least think it's a much better thought out piece all around. Also YT compression for the stream clips go brrrrrrrrr

You’re a little out of the ordinary, and I enjoyed this video.

Give tokyo xtreme racer (0/3) and drift 2 a chance, under appreciated bangers and racing hidden gems of ps2 generation

I know these games have a pretty dedicated cult following and I have given pretty much all of them a fair shot, but I'll be honest they've never really hooked me as I feel they're a bit too boring, convoluted and dragged out for their own good (at least for me).
I do think some of the spins they put on their games are interesting (e.g the SP battle system) but none of the mainline games have really succeeded in pulling me in and having me play to the end.
The only one I sometimes come back to is "Street Supremacy", the PSP spin-off as the whole team territory control premise is pretty neat and handled much better than other racing games that have tried a similar concept (looking at you, NFS Carbon), but this game does also have many flaws of its own. It's also probably the shortest to complete out of all of them once you know how things work which is an extra bonus, as it's all finished before it gets too tedious.

The first game is actually a home port of an arcade cabinet originally tied to 2Fast2Furious.

There was a homeport of the original Raw Thrills Fast & Furious arcade that was sold under the Cruis'n franchise for the Wii, but the version I played on stream is the arcade cabinet sequel made as a """tie-in""" for the Tokyo Drift movie, just running natively on my PC (as old Raw Thrills cabinets quite literally just have regular low-spec Windows PC's shoved into them).
Oddly enough they brought all the tracks across from the original, on top of the new Japan-themed levels they made specifically for this version of the game, whilst quite a few of the cars are new despite also not really having anything to do with the movie besides the RX-7, RX-8, 350z & '66 Mustang.

These are all racing games. maybe you should add that into the title.

I do indeed only showcase racing games here, however the overall discussion point can be applied to any & all genres in gaming.
I could've included a couple of examples of non-racing games, but I based these choices off a recent stream I did to have a more coherent narrative & also it's just the genre I'm the most knowledgeable in.
