It's amazing to see how far phones have come. This was my first cell phone back in 2008 and I thought it was the best thing ever. Now this is nothing but the dare was one of the best phones I've probably had.
The Dare looks pretty cool. I like how it switches to the landscape view of webpages and pictures when you turn it sideways. And the fact that you can actually navigate the phone while the music player is running is nice. But I will stick with my Voyager. I love that phone.
agree. and it seems to have a better operating system where like on the web browser you can rotate the phone while the screen rotates (much like the iphone). It also seems to have a faster web browser.
Takes some getting used to, but I got used to it after the first few days. I text pretty smooth on it, though one thing that happens every so often is you'll hit the period button instead of the space bar and it might be annoying every once in a while.
You'll find a slip-up once in a while, but that's expected. It took me maybe only a day to get fully used to, if even that. The Voyager is nice because of the keyboard, but the keys are even smaller than the on-screen keys. I tested both out for texting and I still think the Dare is superior. The music file transfer is somewhat annoying as you'll need to correct some of the files manually, but the playback is amazing. It produces great sound, and rather loud too!
The Voyagers touch screen is very responsive. I know some people say that you have to push hard on it but I have never ever had this issue with my Voyager and if I ever do have this issue with my phone it will be sent back. Your right about the real full keyboard its great and is one of the main things that sold me on the Voyager in the firat place.
i so agree with the comment about "every touch screen phone being a wannabe iphone" the future of cell phone was headed to all touch, if anything its not competition. its just technology catching up and perfecting the flaws eachother have and making em better
Verizon already said that they were trying to add third party apps to it, but it would come later after the release. Probably a few months down the road or so when the second installment of Dares comes out. But even without third party apps it's still probably the best phone you can get that's not a smart phone like the iphone.
thanks. great video, i just got the lg dare and found it very confusing without looking at the manual. this video helped me a lot. has a lot of features. the only thing i dont like about the phone is, its kind of small, mostly for texting if your using the keyboard.
Verizon and Sprint use phones called CDMA, where activation is by directing connection only. While for phones that use simcards are called GSM phones, which is what tkim mentioned that cingular and tmobile use.
I ended up picking the Dare over the Env touch because I really didn't need the full keyboard and the Dare is lighter and a little smaller. I wish you could set the phone to lock at a different time than the backlight went off but it has to be the same time as far as I can tell. Really though both phones are good.
the battery life is amazing i just bought this phone 5 days ago and i love it, everything about this phone is awesome. i would recommend it for everyone
I do love the voyager's keyboard though...this phone has a nice look and nicer operating system I guess. the browser looks faster and nicer. I like the larger screen...very nice...very very nice.
Thank you, I have been debating between the Dare and the Voyager and the only reason I thought I might not get the Dare was because I have big hands and love texting.
In my opinion, the Versa is a more bulkier. I keep my phone in my pocket so I liked the Dare. And the Dare owns with its camera with a 3.2 MP opposed to the Versa's 2.0 MP camera.
can you turn off that little tone it plays every time you touch the screen? i'm thinking about possibly getting one of these (awesome) phones soon and i was just curious.
The LG Dare is more than half the price of the iPhone and the iPhone contracts. Honestly, if you don't want to spend $60+ a month on a phone, I'd get the Dare. I have one, the touch screen functions is very easy to get used to, simple.
I have it on my Voyager. I like it very much. Lots of sports and news. I guess it's whatever you're into. They keep adding channels as time goes by. Anyway, I figured the Dare is sort of a step up from the Voyager. It seems to be in a lot of ways. The keyboard and tv seem to be the only essential differences. If it has tv, I'll go buy it tonight.
yea its about the same size as the razor wen its closed. and i dont use it for much except texting (which is amazing) and calling which is also very nice.
Ya I agree alot of people just don,t understand just how importent of a feature the real keyboard really is and the Dare does not have it. The Dare also does not have a second display and live tv like the Voyager has. The Voyager rocks and is the best phone I have ever used.
is the camera quality for the Dare better than the LG Voyager Titanium? and is the touchscreen hard to control? as far as the touchscreen goes, i'd prefer the Voyager bcuz I prefer being able to text with the qwerty keyboard, but if the touchscreen is easy to deal with, then i'd probably go for the Dare
I've had this phone for like 2 years now, i bought the insurance which is an extra i think $10 a month, and it's worked perfectly fine, even when i've gotten water on it and i have no case or anything on it. It has slowed down but that is expected, especially since i have thousands of pics and hundreds of little videos i took, i love the storage, i had the env before this, and it held like 200 photos before needing to delete stuff, it's not a smart phone, and i'm fine with that.
that because the Blackberry uses a different data plan. it has extra stuff like Corporate email. The unlimited data with the Dare is like 15 bucks a month
so i went to best buy today and got to test the phone and i liked it. the touch isnt as good as the iphone, but it is better than the glyde. so far this is my fav touch phone other than the iphone. he did a good job with the demo.
i really like the dare, but i like the voyager too. the thing i like about the voyager is the keyboard. the dare has 1 too, but its touchscreen. theres a ton of things i like about the dare though. which 1 should i get??
I agree, the interface on the Dare looks great. The music player is one thing that takes away from the voyager. On the other hand, Dare doesn't have Movile TV.
Thats funny he only messed up on the last number there. If he had the Voyager he could have opened up the real keyboard and he would not have messed up at all. Not having the real keyboard is a major weakness of the Dare.
I have a question...does this phone have an extra monthly charge(like $50) to use internet, etc like some smart phones? or do you just pay the regular amount you would for a phone bill? Thanks
my friend has this its so awesome i love it and hes a big texter so its great for him and he loves it. u may think the touchscreen qwerty is hard but its actually very easy. verrryyy good phone
This phone does not suck! 1) You can throw it in a pool and it still works 2) Its got a well variety of animations 3) its camera can play video in slow motion 4) Its screen barly lags Its a good phone people don't exepct a god-phone!
Why didnt you show us, that you can drag and drop icons from the quick menu to the desktop? And use them as shortcuts :) Very good video, keep up the good work
how do you get your pics and videos off the micro sd? Cause I'm having the hardest time figuring it out! I could just call but I don't want to but if I have to with no luck from the replies than i will.
No, if you just want a phone for calling and texting, go for something like the env2. This is for more then texting and calling, like internet and music, and of course, the camera.
I actually prefer not to have a full keyboard and a second display. In my opinion, it makes the device more clunky, and those features aren't that important to me. I do wish it had live tv, though...
dude im getting the LG Dare this week =) i was deciding which one too get too but i heard that the LG Dare is better than the LG Versa bcus of its capabilities and quality so i definitely recommend the LG Dare =P
I am not sure what the name of the phone will be but I have been talking to some people that work for Verizon and they told me that the Dare did not replace the Voyager that phone is going to come out before the end of this year and it will have the 3.2 camera or maybe even a better camera and all the other stuff the Dare has plus it will still have the all importent real full keyboard. I have the Mobile tv on my Voyager and I love it and in my own opinion it works great I love the tv guide.
The voyager has a 2.5 mm jack, which is the standard PHONE HEADSET size. 3.5 mm is the standard AUDIO OUT size for devices like MP3 players, and CD players. You are wrong.
This Definitely competes with the iPhone Better then the Voyager. Im goin to get this phone sometime this week. If this Phone had live TV it would be the whole package. =D
This phone is awesome, I have it. By the way the Samsung Omnia with Verizon has a 5 megapixel camera. That doesn't make the Behold the only one does it?
Have this phone. Just wish the screen was a little better and wish the touch sensitivity was a little bit better. It is not as responsive as the Iphone which is AWESOME! No AMAZING. BUT this phone does have what NO other phone has, slow motion video recording!!!! It is SO much fun.
well if you want a good touchscreen get the dare its pressure sensitive and when you first get it the sensitivity will be on medium so just change it to high the keyboard works very well after you get used to it at first its awkward but it gets better later. the glydes keyboard is pretty cramped its not bad but its a little small and the touchscreen is awful since the displays so small you can txt pretty damn fast with the glyde too. but its all a matter of personal reference.
It's amazing to see how far phones have come. This was my first cell phone back in 2008 and I thought it was the best thing ever. Now this is nothing but the dare was one of the best phones I've probably had.
I love my LG Dare. I have had mine for over a year and it's still going strong.
The Dare looks pretty cool. I like how it switches to the landscape view of webpages and pictures when you turn it sideways. And the fact that you can actually navigate the phone while the music player is running is nice.
But I will stick with my Voyager. I love that phone.
This is an excellent phone. Coming from the Voyager, the Dare is a huge upgrade, both in size and functionality.
I guess its different for everyone. I've had my Dare for almost 2yrs and i've never had any problems with it. Simple and easy to use.
agree. and it seems to have a better operating system where like on the web browser you can rotate the phone while the screen rotates (much like the iphone). It also seems to have a faster web browser.

good review man, best one i found on youtube. just ordered it yesterday and now im much more confident with it.
i so agree with the comment about "every touch screen phone being a wannabe iphone"

I just got this phone for xmas, and it is awesome. Everything works great. Texting took a while to get used but it easier now. LOVE THIS PHONE!!!
nd the volume bar lets u zoom in really easy..which is really cool.
Verizon and Sprint use phones called CDMA, where activation is by directing connection only. While for phones that use simcards are called GSM phones, which is what tkim mentioned that cingular and tmobile use.
I just got this phone on Sunday and I'll admit, the thing did catch my eye.
Texting is so easy
Internet is real fast
It looks awesome!
I ended up picking the Dare over the Env touch because I really didn't need the full keyboard and the Dare is lighter and a little smaller. the battery life is amazing i just bought this phone 5 days ago and i love it, everything about this phone is awesome. i would recommend it for everyone
Very helpful, thanks.
Thanks for the intro. I am still figuring the internet part.
such a solid phone, with a solid battery!
ya, that panarama is one of my favorite things about the phone
"Is the phone the same if you get it from Verizon or Telus? Like the set up/specs when you use the phone."
"and now you cab see we have.....two calculators"
I do love the voyager's keyboard though...this phone has a nice look and nicer operating system I guess. the browser looks faster and nicer. I like the larger screen...very nice...very very nice.
i like this better than the storm
the dare is more sleek and small
and it has a lot to offer!
great review
covered everything
really want this phone but the lack of actual keyboard kinda gets to me
Thank you, I have been debating between the Dare and the Voyager and the only reason I thought I might not get the Dare was because I have big hands and love texting.
so excited getting one this weekend!
so im guessing by the way it looks and works the touch screen doesn't lag?
i just brought this phone online a few hours ago should be delivered tomorrow!!! yay i cant wait! it looks awesome
In my opinion, the Versa is a more bulkier.
I keep my phone in my pocket so I liked the Dare.
And the Dare owns with its camera with a 3.2 MP opposed to the Versa's 2.0 MP camera.
In ur opinion whats better the Dare or the Voyger?
can you turn off that little tone it plays every time you touch the screen? i'm thinking about possibly getting one of these (awesome) phones soon and i was just curious.

AWESOME phone, ordering mine on monday! !!
Nope, the LG Prada came out first. That is what prompted Apple to put the iPhone out earlier than originally planned
If it has tv, I'll go buy it tonight.
yea its about the same size as the razor wen its closed. and i dont use it for much except texting (which is amazing) and calling which is also very nice.
you know you have the speaker and the voice activation buttons backwards right? just thought i'd say that
Ya I agree alot of people just don,t understand just how importent of a feature the real keyboard really is and the Dare does not have it. The Dare also does not have a second display and live tv like the Voyager has. The Voyager rocks and is the best phone I have ever used.
"This is the new LG Dare" *with emphasis* lol
thanx i was thinking the same thing would u say the voyger is a sidekick killer?
is the camera quality for the Dare better than the LG Voyager Titanium? and is the touchscreen hard to control? as far as the touchscreen goes, i'd prefer the Voyager bcuz I prefer being able to text with the qwerty keyboard, but if the touchscreen is easy to deal with, then i'd probably go for the Dare
So what's better, this or the Samsung Omnia?
The keyboard's touch screen as well, it's switchable between QWERTY and ABC
I've had this phone for like 2 years now, i bought the insurance which is an extra i think $10 a month, and it's worked perfectly fine, even when i've gotten water on it and i have no case or anything on it. Damn that is one good looking phone, going to look into if MetroPCS will flash that one. :-)
so i went to best buy today and got to test the phone and i liked it. the touch isnt as good as the iphone, but it is better than the glyde. so far this is my fav touch phone other than the iphone. he did a good job with the demo.

I like this its awesome I want this as my next phone

the phone lookz great maybe i check it out at the store..how much is it rah now?i live in nyc..
I agree, the interface on the Dare looks great. The music player is one thing that takes away from the voyager. On the other hand, Dare doesn't have Movile TV.

I have a question...does this phone have an extra monthly charge(like $50) to use internet, etc like some smart phones? or do you just pay the regular amount you would for a phone bill? Thanks
Is it pretty easy to text? Did u get used to the texting pretty quick?
It depends on your plan. If it isn't in your plan it costs money pr. a certain amount of data accessed.
Had this phone for 23 months and it's been a champ. But like someone below said, time for an upgrade, one more month to go.
my friend has this its so awesome i love it and hes a big texter so its great for him and he loves it. u may think the touchscreen qwerty is hard but its actually very easy. verrryyy good phone
This phone does not suck!
1) You can throw it in a pool and it still works
2) Its got a well variety of animations
3) its camera can play video in slow motion
4) Its screen barly lags
Its a good phone people don't exepct a god-phone!
How would you comepare the actual phone to the Blackberry Storm?
Why didnt you show us, that you can drag and drop icons from the quick menu to the desktop? And use them as shortcuts :)
Very good video, keep up the good work
o wait ur reviewing a phone on youtube?!?! Glad to see ur doing something productive with ur life!!!!
What is better the dare or the touch?
how do you get your pics and videos off the micro sd? Cause I'm having the hardest time figuring it out! I could just call but I don't want to but if I have to with no luck from the replies than i will.
ooh yes, i just got one a few days ago! I love it!!! The texting is also not that bad either! I definately recommend it! It is worth it.
No, if you just want a phone for calling and texting, go for something like the env2.
This is for more then texting and calling, like internet and music, and of course, the camera.
this video convinced me to get the Dare i was stuck between the Dare and the BB Storm
The 3mm Headjack Is For Normal Headphones Right? I Get My Upgrade On The 19th Thanks!
i know this is a stupid question but where is the charge slot
How much does the LG dare cost with the 2 year upgrade?
I have the iPhone, and i'm switching to the Dare this week for sure
The ONLY thing better about the Dare Vs the Voyager is the fact that the Dare has a better camera thats all.
I actually prefer not to have a full keyboard and a second display. In my opinion, it makes the device more clunky, and those features aren't that important to me. I do wish it had live tv, though...
dude im getting the LG Dare this week =) i was deciding which one too get too but i heard that the LG Dare is better than the LG Versa bcus of its capabilities and quality so i definitely recommend the LG Dare =P
that's exactly wat i'm doing but how long would i have to wait?
is there like a cover for the toch screen please tell me!!! love to know!!!!! thanx
Apperently, yeah. im getting it this week and was looking at info on it
I am not sure what the name of the phone will be but I have been talking to some people that work for Verizon and they told me that the Dare did not replace the Voyager that phone is going to come out before the end of this year and it will have the 3.2 camera or maybe even a better camera and all the other stuff the Dare has plus it will still have the all importent real full keyboard. This Definitely competes with the iPhone Better then the Voyager. Im goin to get this phone sometime this week. If this Phone had live TV it would be the whole package. =D
Dude no joke, me too! Dec. 27. I already have it though. I keep alot of music on mine. I cant wait!
This phone is awesome, I have it. By the way the Samsung Omnia with Verizon has a 5 megapixel camera. That doesn't make the Behold the only one does it?
Wow, i really like this phone. I wish it was with tmobile. this is reallyy nice.
haha i like the last bit you added there :P im kinda feelin the same!
Have this phone. Just wish the screen was a little better and wish the touch sensitivity was a little bit better. It is not as responsive as the Iphone which is AWESOME! No AMAZING. BUT this phone does have what NO other phone has, slow motion video recording!!!! It is SO much fun.
I would assume so, he said it's a "3.5mm headset jack"
I did the same thing. I had the glyde for a week and didnt like it at all. I now have the dare and love it!
Voyager because its got the full real keyboard, second display and live tv. The ONLY thing better about the Dare is it has a better camera.
True, people dont get the Glyde phone you can get better hpones for the same price and its been known to experience technical issues.
whats better, this or the versa?
im not sure now :/
i miss that phone so much i was very pleased with it
if your going to get a new phone, but you all ready have verizon how much does it cost to upgrade your phone to the dare?
@pyro74boy im pretty sure the iphone came out first. and the iPhone does touch screens a whole lot smoother than others.
is it real touch screen like the iphone or is it that push in screen like the voyager?
well if you want a good touchscreen get the dare its pressure sensitive and when you first get it the sensitivity will be on medium so just change it to high the keyboard works very well after you get used to it at first its awkward but it gets better later. the glydes keyboard is pretty cramped its not bad but its a little small and the touchscreen is awful since the displays so small you can txt pretty damn fast with the glyde too. but its all a matter of personal reference.
