Yes, I live in U.S. I had to pay full retail for it as my NE2 isn't until June of next year. Ended up paying $471 and some change including taxes. It's supposed to be $249.99 with a $70 mail in and a 2yr contract.
Might be an old feature for phones but I found that panoramic photo thing towards the end really neat. I'm always trying to do that with my camera but I can't keep my damn hands still enough. Ordering my Omnia tomorrow, can't wait.
I've noticed that people who come from the "iPhone" world tend to use their whole finger tip to try to move something on a PPC device. The touchscreens don't work the same way. With most winmo phones, you're better off using something smaller like the very tip of your finger, which is why they also include a stylus. I had trouble trying to use my friends iPhone for that very reason; I'm used to fine control where with the iPhone you have to use the whole surface of your finger.
And also due to the rather crammed messaging, I installed a word corrector app. As long as you type within the radius of the letter, it corrects the word for you in the event of a typo, which is pretty common with touch phones.
Great phone, but viewing text message history on it is rather difficult because you have to scroll back so many times in one conversation history. Is there any way to view convo history on the computer? Or anything I can do to make it easier to view on the phone itself? Thank you
I have the dare, and I like it quite a bit. This looks like it has a little more functionality to it, and the Wifi aspect to the omnia is huge. The omnia seems to be a little less responsive to touch though. I would really like to play with this phone though.
I'm having trouble deciding, the Omnia or the Storm, i hear the storm is very glichy and has alot of problems, and i've heard very few complaints about the omnia...
BTW the internet seemed quicker than on my dare (but he didn't do too much browsing or to new sites.) The smile detection feature was pretty neat when I used it in the store. I'd say go with any of the phone's just check them out first. In July the dare IMO was the best phone on the market for Verizon, now you have a few more good options. I've had a few problems with my dare as I'm sure all phones will have so IMO get the one you like the most. I liked the dare before but not so much now.
@lasamigas97 Because it does. I'm on my second one, and it needs replacing after only having it for a few months. I'm holding off on that because I can get a new phone in Feb. 2011. Otherwise, I would cash in on the warranty replacement (yup- still covered under warranty-related issues). My major beef with it is the totally unresponsive and inaccurate screen. Makes it impossible to do anything. I have to use the optical mouse to get anything done and that takes forever.
when I went to the verizon store for my new phone, it was either this or the storm. the salesperson informed me that the storm is overadvertised and the omnia is a better alternative. I got the omnia, and I love it, though the ringer volume and vibrate could be a little louder and stronger. sometimes I can't hear/feel it when it's in my pocket. otherwise, it's a great phone, and getting it at $100 after discounts is an awesome incentive. those on verizon, definitely check this out.
I'm about to buy the samsung omnia for verizon and they said i have to buy the 30 dollar internet plan and if i do buy it I like going on aim so i was wondering if i was to go on aim will i still be charged for sending messges and revieving because isn't aim technically online? and my second question will i be charged for staying online on my phone if i pay for the online plan?
Hello, is it true thar there's a problem with the video recorder, some say that image and sound don`t match (sync). Other thing, is it true that the voice recorder is very bad and gives the sound of daisy duck or something like that? I'm really interested in buying this phone, but those rumors worry me a lot
I heard that the Korean version has an 806 MHz processor, 800x480 screen, and 3G video calling with a VGA front camera. I also think that the other versions for other countries have these features.
You are absolutely right. Being well versed in Windows Mobile and seeing this vid i went to a Verizon Store and turned on mouse mode and this phone immediately became the best Windows Mobile phone ever in my eyes. This phone is great for someone who is professional but wants a phone with an insane amount of functionality like smackfanatic said. I have to pay full retail if i want this phone ($559) and trust me i'm seriously considering doing it. (btw i currently have the xv6800)
I'm trying to decide between this and the LG Bliss. I am going to be using it as a phone, camera, texting device. Nothing else. What do you suggest? I would get an iPhone, but my Cell Phone provider doesn't have that one. Thanks for your help.
This tiny button is a legit complaint and has been discussed in various forums. Someone did find a way around: Reassign the side button that normally brings up the "Main Menu" and make it "close program". This can be done in Settings. I also reassigned the first click of the camera button to the task manager so I can "end task" quickly. (Camera still works) If you don't close out often, the Omnia will eventually lock up because it does not actually close out the programs when you hit the "X".
you're referring to the new macbooks mouse pad if I understand you correctly, can anyone tell me with experience with the storm and omnia which is the better choice?
i got the phone couple days ago..its pretty sick better than i expected. the touch screen is not vary sensitive & the phone has so many features. its comes with a stylis' so its kinda like a palm piliot. Overall I give it a 8.5/10
@2Dodgeram Ya, that it was. Now I finally get to see some things in the "Storage Card", which I am guessing is the memory card. @_@ But I just don't know how to put things in it cuz I think that most other things were putting themselves in the Main Memory and my poor phone got screwed over. Anywho, ya, strange things. lol
Okay.. it's not really finger friendly if you have to keep on pressing it till it pops out... but idk.. I kinda want this phone.. or the iPhone. Which ones better?! and which ones cheaper..?
WHAT?! i was doing a shit load of research on it today and was so excited for it to come out for the US. what is your source on it not being releasing to the US
I have a few questions about this phone Can you text more than a 160 characters in one text? and Is the texting in chat log mode like the palm centro or just regular texting?
Hey can someone pls tell me if u can set the pictures for your contacts and if, how many. When the person is calling you, does the picture of this person display on the screen? cheers
screens with vertical portion much greater then the horizontal one, like in omnia, nokia tube etc can be little uncomfortable for video viewing. best ratio can be seen in htc touch hd and blackberry storm
That's weird... other Omnia reviews I saw has the scroll bar at the side but in this one you can swipe through the menu's with a swipe... why the difference?
How do you like it overall? My contract is up with Sprint soon and I was considering Verizon. I was considering this phone, but if it's a pain I don't want it...
if you are connected to a wifi network, you will just use the internet from whoever provides internet to that modem. If you are not connected to a wifi network, your phone will access the internet through your mobile phone provider, and use your data plan. I dont know what you mean by 'version server'
Is it just me or the touch screen is not very sensitive and responsive? You have to tap really strong to make it stop the music on the video, for example. Also, I thought it was really slowmo when he moved the widgets on the screen.
@2Dodgeram It kept saying that my other programs would not work if I didn't get more MB's. I finally reset the entire thing and it got rid of the windows market and other programs but I still don't know how to get programs that I purchase from that market or other things (like Opera, cuz I heard it has lots of memory or something) into my 16 GB memory chip. =(
geezzz thanks mate...i was havin a hard time choosing b/n samsung omnia or the iphone 3G. i wld love to have the omnia!! but whats the difference b/n omnia i900 and omnia i910?? i mean whats the improvement?
Yes, I live in U.S. I had to pay full retail for it as my NE2 isn't until June of next year. Ended up paying $471 and some change including taxes. It's supposed to be $249.99 with a $70 mail in and a 2yr contract.
Just wondering if I bought this used and activated it. Would they require me to add a Data plan to my normal voice plan? Since it's a smartphone.
Might be an old feature for phones but I found that panoramic photo thing towards the end really neat. I'm always trying to do that with my camera but I can't keep my damn hands still enough.
Ordering my Omnia tomorrow, can't wait.
I've been looking at this phone for awhile. Your vid just convinced me to get it. Tomorrow, it will be mine. :D
I've noticed that people who come from the "iPhone" world tend to use their whole finger tip to try to move something on a PPC device. The touchscreens don't work the same way. Got this Omnia for $0 after combining discounts and what not. Absolutely love it. Disappointed that the HD model won't be coming to the US.
Yes, the touchscreen takes a bit getting used to. I have one and it does take some practice.
Yes, but you have to install the appropriate driver for the phone on your laptop, and know the generic dialup number for your service provider.
When Will This Be Available In The US?????
Great phone, but viewing text message history on it is rather difficult because you have to scroll back so many times in one conversation history.
Is there any way to view convo history on the computer? Or anything I can do to make it easier to view on the phone itself? Thank you
very nice review!
i was wowed at the smile feature of the camera and the internet still a microsoft fan.
good to know! .. i ordered mine yesterday and it should be arriving soon
Does the omnia have sms text threading. I've haven't been able to find anything on the subject.
Yes. As of now all phones (not just PDA phones) require a "data package".
is the omina like the bb storm where u havge 2 actually click the screen?? like a button?
I prefer the HTC too but do you find that you have trouble with pressing things cause the screen is smaller?
Could i please ask how you get the back cover off?
This is the same phone as the Tmobile Samsung Behold right?
I have the dare, and I like it quite a bit. This looks like it has a little more functionality to it, and the Wifi aspect to the omnia is huge. The omnia seems to be a little less responsive to touch though. I would really like to play with this phone though.
I'm having trouble deciding, the Omnia or the Storm, i hear the storm is very glichy and has alot of problems, and i've heard very few complaints about the omnia...
does omnia find music like the samsung star?
where are you from?
its allready out and its been out for a while
BTW the internet seemed quicker than on my dare (but he didn't do too much browsing or to new sites.) The smile detection feature was pretty neat when I used it in the store. thx this helped alot cus im getting the omnia soon and i would have had NO CLUE as to what i was doing thank you and once again thank you.
i just got this phone and so far have no complaints...

i just got the Samsung Omnia phone like a week ago and so far i love it...
I'm about to buy the samsung omnia for verizon and they said i have to buy the 30 dollar internet plan and if i do buy it I like going on aim so i was wondering if i was to go on aim will i still be charged for sending messges and revieving because isn't aim technically online? and my second question will i be charged for staying online on my phone if i pay for the online plan?

you can mess with the sensitivity settings in the registry. All the way up and it feels like the iphone (at least on my tp it does)
I heard that the Korean version has an 806 MHz processor, 800x480 screen, and 3G video calling with a VGA front camera. I also think that the other versions for other countries have these features.
i dont know what i did but the grid menu on the left is not there anymore.
how do i get it back?
as soon as i saw it drop 50 bucks earlier this morning i ordered it right away. great looking phone
one question please, can you get good applications on this phone, like games and some other stuff that you can get with iPhone, please answer :-)
i have the telus version, but the verizon version does have a sim card i believe
can omnia get updated programe like iphone and do this thing has wi-fi?

one of the coolest phones right now imo!
I'll be getting mine tomorrow. I ordered it Wednesday night.
I'm trying to decide between this and the LG Bliss. I am going to be using it as a phone, camera, texting device. Nothing else. What do you suggest? I would get an iPhone, but my Cell Phone provider doesn't have that one. Thanks for your help.

iv noticed there are two onmia's i900 and i910 wat is the diffrence??
the touch screen should primarily be used with a stylus.just thought I'd let you know if that's what you're talking about
you're referring to the new macbooks mouse pad if I understand you correctly, can anyone tell me with experience with the storm and omnia which is the better choice?

Can you send picture messages and like sound clips with this phone to others?

@2Dodgeram

Yes. I emailed them asking if they planned to carry it and if so, how much? That was the answer I got.
so can you just go in the internet using wi-fi without paying ?
Okay.. it's not really finger friendly if you have to keep on pressing it till it pops out...
but idk.. I kinda want this phone.. or the iPhone.
Which ones better?!
and which ones cheaper..?
WHAT?!
i was doing a shit load of research on it today and was so excited for it to come out for the US.
what is your source on it not being releasing to the US

I have a few questions about this phone
Can you text more than a 160 characters in one text?
and
Is the texting in chat log mode like the palm centro or just regular texting?
So should I buy this phone??? I'm getting off the family plan and I'm going to an individual plan. It looks nice!
For this phone, do you HAVE to get internet? If so, I can't get.

Whats the ROM on i910 not the i900 ?

is it required to buy the online and unlimited e-mail plan when you get this phone?
is this phone newer than the instink????
im unsure if i should buy this phone or the nokia xpressmusic or sony xperia.. could someone help. i always had a samsung before tho.
I see this is Verizon's version of the Eternity...I wonder how they compare..?
the USB is the charger! The splitter allows for charging and data simultaneously.
if you are connected to a wifi network, you will just use the internet from whoever provides internet to that modem. If you are not connected to a wifi network, your phone will access the internet through your mobile phone provider, and use your data plan. I dont know what you mean by 'version server'
can you take videos with and and can u watch youtube vids on it?
This is the i910 for Verizon...
This is a badass phone, I have one myself... blows the storm away!
woo hoo you just encouraged me to get this. i almost got the Env touch but this kicks its ass
Whats better the Samsung Omnia or the HTC Touch Diamond?
Hey thanks a bunch! I'm going in to buy one tomorrow and I send a lot of photo messages and that was kind of a deciding factor :)
Is it just me or the touch screen is not very sensitive and responsive? You have to tap really strong to make it stop the music on the video, for example.
Also, I thought it was really slowmo when he moved the widgets on the screen.
yea i have one
its extremely laggy
and the touch screen isnt very responsive sometimes
do you have to pay the extra monthly fee?
Just ordered this phone, got it for $199.99 before $70MIR. Can't wait!
do you have to have email plan for this phone like blackberry storm??
@2Dodgeram
It kept saying that my other programs would not work if I didn't get more MB's. thanks for this! I was about 90% sure this would be my new phone. Now I'm 100%!
geezzz thanks mate...i was havin a hard time choosing b/n samsung omnia or the iphone 3G. i wld love to have the omnia!! but whats the difference b/n omnia i900 and omnia i910?? i mean whats the improvement?

whats the diffrence between a i910 & a i900?
Daft Punk! Yes! This review is the best thing I've ever seen because of that.
do you need a data plan to use this phone?
Do this phone have front camera?
This
Vs
The Droid Eris by HTC
Which should I get?
