Hey, hey, hey, it's time to make some crazy money. Are you ready? Here. We. GO!
Crazy Taxi is an open world racing video game developed by Hitmaker (Sega AM3) and published by Sega. The game was released in arcades in 1999.
Although there only is one stage, the game is highly addicting.
There are a few slowdowns from time to time due to the fact that NAOMI emulation still is far from being perfect. -

I love how American this game is even though it was made entirely by the Japanese
I saw someone somewhere describe this game as a "Japanized-American" game, and I've never found something so fitting. I always love American/Western games made by Asian countries, they're always such fun spins and takes on American culture, if not a bit stereotypical at times. (Which I don't really care if it is in fact I find that quite funny and entertaining, but I'm sure it bothers some people.)
You'd be surprised how many "American" games they've made lol
@J. Not just Japan. There are a lot of European games that take place in America.
Thank god. Kool Aid haired, waifu monstrosities ruin games.
So most games?
3:20 I love how this guy just hates walking.
"Can't you park closer? Anyway take me to the park within walking distance."
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😲😳

Same goes with the lady at 24:28, “I need to go to the mall!” Literally is in the mall
What about of the guy that wants to go to the church but it's right there
The vibe of playing this game is one of the best memories I still have today.
SAME. Was just telling my gf about how many hours of my life I gladly "wasted" on this game. 😅
@@creepyghostgamez8861 I played this game so much I cleared the customers, and didn't need arrows. Remember my hands just being super sore. They don't make games like Crazy Taxi anymore.
@@indierockguitar6875 They don't, unfortunately 😩. At least we have this...let's forget about crazy taxi 2&3. Lol.
@@creepyghostgamez8861 Sega is making another Crazy Taxi. Lets hope it captures the vibe of the first one.
@@indierockguitar6875 yeah, for real.
When I was young, I never appreciated how much the makers of this game went all in on the brand names. Really is the icing on the cake.
Back then copy right wasnt as big as a deal
@@joyconboyasmr6499 Yeah, now the kfc is just fried chicken place
@@joyconboyasmr6499 that's... not the case at all. Brand deals eventually expire

This game is very 90s.
You a Nagel fan too? Nobody knows Nagel anymore these days!
@FBI Breaker Sure feels like it.
And still a good game
No shit.
2019 anyone
Thumbs up if everytime you walk in an arcade and you heard "The Offspring" music bumping, and you immediately knew it was Crazy Taxi
And to think, it was the same deal with it on Dreamcast...
Robert Carter llll
My dollar making record IS OVER 9000!
Is it just me or do you have trouble getting speed in Crazy Taxi.
And bad religion
I felt like a kid again seeing my childhood returned today.
2019 and i am crying with this
Why
@@youtuberk1577 because it’s nostalgic
This was my fave game
its a crazy game and none of the people die like GTA and you get rewarded for bad driving.
2021, whistfully smiling
This game is pure gold. And I still own this game.
@Irinel not anymore and it was original copy too. but I do have steam version of it. it's ok if you ask me but it does miss some original music.
@@HaaskaChan Remember the early-1999 prototype of Crazy Taxi for Sega Naomi hardware? It feels very different from the final (no music, different textures, and a cut character) and had some elements from the cancelled Goofy Taxi! project for Model 2/Model 3.
I remember playing this on Sega Dreamcast. I own it on the Xbox via Xbox on February 16, 2018 where it was free with gold.
I just bought this on ebaym, gonna be really fun
Still own it also..it's a huge beast but worth it\m/

Sega predicted Uber
More like Sega has taken a taxi ride in San Francisco. Cabbies in The City are FUCKING INSANE and give NO FUCKS if they hit anyone...
Pretty much yo.

Uber boss inspired from tis game
Lol
The nostalgia. Use to love this game as a kid. The music and everything it's like it was yesterday. Time goes too quick
Dude the opening gameplay footage is so sweet. This was my favorite game of the Dreamcast! Actually aged pretty well
shenmue and jet set radio too
@@MegaYelawolf The PC version feels like if it's on location test in mid-1999, different than this final arcade version and Dreamcast, but the earliest prototype had a different logo (written in graffiti instead of white italic Impact text on red flames), cut characters, no music, different textures, and of course elements from the cancelled Goofy Taxi! project for the Sega Model 2 and later Sega Model 3 (going to be developed in partnership with Disney).
@@TangerineWallaby343 where can I find this "earliest prototype"?
srsly your favourite DC game?? I mean, it's cool and fun, but cmoon 😂😂
ALL I WANT, is an crazy taxy remake!
+Phillip Smith yeah with the possibility of picking up more people instead of just one person at a time within a time limit. lol
Yeah, and use NOFX, Pennywise songs too.
spyro115 you do that in CT3
Well The Simpsons Road Rage is similar to Crazy Taxi.
I unironically want a new Crazy Taxi game for Switch, or at least a port/remaster of the first two games
I have so many memories with this game. I remember in either 1999 or 2000, my local roller rink got one of these. I was probably 6 at the time, and my older brother would go to this place every Friday to hang out with his friends. I used to tag along just to play in the arcade; I played the shit out of this and The House Of The Dead until I ran out of money. When it came out for Gamecube and Dreamcast, I rented those games often until I eventually bought them.
Also, this game introduced me to The Offspring, which I cannot thank SEGA enough for. That was one of my first musical interests, and they're still one of my favorite bands all these years later.
+ShortFingeredShreder There is also a PS2 version, which I got.
looks the calforncation music video lol
@@coreydeluna5258 This game was going to be developed in 1996 and 1997 as a Model 2/Model 3 game featuring Goof Troop characters.
The Offspring rule too. They were my absolute favorite band in that era. I even went as far as to track down all of their albums on vinyl, Americana in particular is a pretty rare and valuable album (very common on CD)

One of the most pointless customer fares ever. Wait 'till that customer's dollar sign's not deep red and you'll get a better fare.

I totally agree with you.
ALMOST! This is #2 to Burnout: Takedown. But, you can't lose either way.
bpstyles yeah U can, the time limit
Agreed, the XBOX 360 and PSN versions don't have the same energy as the Dreamcast/arcade versions.
A few things:
- I abused the hell out of that 'stuck in the wall' glitch to the point where my highest combo was over 50 and I earned several grand just going to the cable car at the bottom of the hill.
- I'll never understand why they had a few customers literally across the street from their destinations
- I always made sure to get the granny at the top of the parking garage, even if I almost never got a Speedy rank with her
- I got 20 grand on Arcade Rules ONCE and could never get within 2 grand of it ever again after
- I wish the 2nd and 3rd games were ported to other platforms
15:28 CJ from GTA SA
I used to believe GTA and Crazy Taxi were in the same universe as a kid because of that.

I _never_ played the arcade version or _3_, but I _did_ play the Dreamcast version of this first. When I was 14-15, I had no idea what to do (and constantly got the purple "BAD" marker, mostly because I didn't get to the destination fast enough), but as I got older, I started making the arcade high score table...repeatedly, but with Axel and Gena (around 12th~19th). Years later, I got back into playing this, and started using B.D. Joe a little more (I use him a lot in _Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed_ along with Sonic, Tails, Joe Musashi, NiGHTS and Ralph).
I even broke my personal best records last night and this morning on the PS3 version, using Axel and Gus--claiming the 1st-place arcade high score table position (not the leaderboards--I can't do jack (bleep) for the life of me in _any_ game online, scoring in the 5-6 digit ranks and always coming in near the back in racing games).
With that said, keep up the good work.
wow, you are good
For me, it was the PSP.
5:47 That car-stuck-on-wall thing happened to me with the same passenger. Only thing is it lasted so long that the time ran out for her and she was mad but since I was in the zone she didn't leave until after she tipped me past the $1,000 mark.

Childhood right here!
The music really fits in this game
I remember playing this as a kid 14 years ago and was blown away by the graphics
Now its nostalgia thats getting to me lol
The graphics were crazy to everyone back then. The Dreamcast/Naomi was the first of that gen and we couldn't believe this shit when it hit the arcades 🤯🤯
I love it, original soundtrack, voice actors, and locations!
Me and my friend were talking about our childhood memories and suddenly I remembered this game, now we both are 20s and we used to play that game when we were just 10 or 11 something, there was some magical in that era
“Insert coins” dude I miss those days I had this on the Dreamcast but I was way more fun to go to the arcade and play with people. Thats how you made your best friends in the late 90s. It’s sad this era is gone forever and kids will never experience the fun of just being a kid with no worries. Not saying the world was perfect but we didn’t have social media and as kids it didn’t matter to us.
This is the real inspiration for the uber and lyft apps
I wish they would make a remake.
It's finally coming!!

This game was da BAWMB. So many good memories of entering the game store and seeing kids playing this at the monters next to 1080 Snowboarding and Street Sk8er. There was so much to choose from and so much color.
That was back when game stores where owned by small business owners, before Game Stop drove them all out of business across the globe.

1:51 To skip to the gameplay.
thank you for letting the beginning title screen to play through, i wish there were more arcade machines around with these gems.
I remember back in late 2002/early 2003 the arcade version of this game was available on the 4 hour slow ferry from Wales to Ireland, I was able to play it for virtually free because for some reason it kept rejecting my coin but still registering it as a credit, so I'd just keep putting the same coin in over and over every time I wanted to play. My cousin and I had a blast, I'd also played Grand Theft Auto: Vice City for the first time and thought this game looked kinda like it, and thought that was awesome.

You get no relief.
You gotta speak up,
And yell out your piece.
So, back off your rules,
Back off your jive,

To stay alive.
Leave me alone.
Not asking a lot.
I just don't want to be controlled.

Is it gonna take,
'Til someone around you,

Now, it's their turn to try.
So, back off your rules,
Back off your jive,
'Cause I'm sick of not living,
To stay alive.
Leave me alone.
Not asking a lot.
I just don't want to be controlled.
