    I was not expecting to have a rough start to Camp Snoopy. They only opened half of the planned attractions & the area where the old meet & greet was is still empty & mostly untouched. Sally's Swing Along & Beagle Express being closed was not what I was expecting. I'm sure later into the summer, the new Camp Snoopy will actually be solid but for now, we need to wait.

      Yeah, I'm a bit surprised they opened it when they did. At the same time, I'm sure they wanted to at least get the coaster open for everyone. I think a soft-opening would have been a better idea. And then have a grand opening when everything is done.

    Ooofff, Knotts really fumbled the reopening of Camp Snoopy. The new truck ride looks painfully slow and load/unload time looks just as bad. The new coaster is nice, wonder how long before they decide to do only a single lap. 😅 I'm glad you were invited to the Media event, you've been covering the park for so long, you deserve it!

    • @AmericasCoasterNetwork
      @AmericasCoasterNetwork  15 дней назад

      Yeah, I was surprised the train was closed. They've been testing it for a couple weeks now and it looks ready. The jeeps are painfully slow in all ways. There was a moment I thought it was closed when trying to get footage of the vehicles going by because there was a long stretch of track with no jeeps. I think the coaster will always do two laps. It's short enough and doesn't add that much time to the cycle. I'm glad I was invited too! After being snubbed for a couple years now, it was a surprise to be able to go. Hopefully I'll get invited to more. Makes it a lot easier to cover for these vlogs. Thanks. 😃

    When the original kiddie coaster opened, adults could ride it. Not sure if that was only occasionally or always, but I rode it numerous times. I imagine as it aged that became an issue. Only thing I can think of. Good thing I got my fill of it in the 80’s so did not miss it at all. 😎
    Really happy to have a ride with SO much more personality. I did not expect anything to be animated!! I don’t think we have seen outdoor animation on a Knott’s attraction since the days of the original Bear-y Tales, followed by the Wacky Soap Box ride. The animation was a pain to keep working in that environment, so I hope Knott’s can keep it running because it is just too cute.

      Yeah, that might have been the case with Timberline Twister getting older. And, yeah, Tenderpaw has so much personality. That's a great way to put it! Calico River Rapids also has outdoor animatronic characters. I wonder if Garner Holt did this too.

    I'm surprised of all things the marquee wasn't done for today. Personally, I wasn't a fan of the new one-it seems like they reused and bulk ordered the design from King's Island's new area this year. The Snoopy statue without the rope is also an odd choice for the grand opening. The Snoopy canoe at the entrance was iconic for Knott's.
    I also noticed the inconsistency in ride signage, as you pointed out. All rides now have these cute "badge" signs, but Beagle Express has a huge marquee right next to a massive boulder with Sierra Sidewinder plastered on it far from it's actual entrance with it's own signage.
    There are other small details too. With the large grass lawn open, you can see Snoopy's Camp Store is highly visible from the midway heading toward the entrance, but they didn't clean mass of pine needles off the roof or just sweep cobwebs from light fixtures throughout. The few new lanterns near Snoopy's Tenderpaw Twister don't match the others-they could have reused some from the demolition. The new wood structures are close but don't match the originals. Too many wood building types in clashing color schemes all over when it felt way more cohesive before. I get it's "newly reimagined," but it feels inconsistent, and the effort was there to do it 95% match but just not quite to have that harmony to tie old and new together.
    Not to nitpick, but you notice these things waiting 90 minutes for Tenderpaw in direct sun with no shade. As a single rider, after a brief shutdown due to someone getting sick, the woman in front of me for the full 90 minutes was sadly turned away. She asked if her son could ride with me, and I of course said yes despite barely fitting myself. I felt so bad for her, but she was glad her son could ride.
    I absolutely love the animated props, though-the fish pond, the spinning directional sign that triggers when you speed past (kind of reminds me of Jurassic Park for some reason), and the swirling Woodstock on top of the building. They could work on the timing of those effects, but I love that they're there!

      I think the sun got to you. Lol. I agree on some points regarding little things they didn't do. But I love the new restroom building. Agree about the timing of the effects. They were always different each ride.

      @@AmericasCoasterNetwork It's a little rattley. Not that bad though. It's definitely a front row ride for the pull up into the lifthill. Try it, it's really insane, it's a more intense moment than the pull up on Xcelerator. It has a nice launch, and some really nice effects with the Woodstock and sign spinning and the water splashing the riders. Overall, I rank it better than Santa Monica's West Coaster but a bit lower than Pony Express. Knott's really got the true family coaster they needed.
