Yes I agree with you, Dr Alexis should come up on top for hyperpigmentation advice. I am always looking for skin care for hyperpigmentation and just can across Dr Alexis. Is it because I'm white and watch mostly white RUclipsrs? I've watched Dr. Rattan in the past too but Dr Alexis is so very good. What the heck RUclips?

I just got tired 😫 of running to the store to get a beauty product and the product didn't help my skin. I always wanted clear skin so that makeup would be an asset to my skin and not a cover up essential product for my skin. 🥰🥰🥰

This is the best informative video I have ever watch about hyperpigmentation, Dr. could you please do an update version with better audio. The audio is broken up during the video and makes it hard to listen. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and for your help 🙏❤️❤️❤️
This video has helped me so much to stop spinning my wheels on acne scarring from the pregnancy of my daughter. I am finally seeing results. I keep coming back to re-watch.
Please put the order in which we need to use these items in a list starting from cleanser, treatments, retinol, etc. It’s hard to keep up with the right products we need to use in the correct order.
i gotchu! 1. Oil Cleanse/Micellar Water (optional) if you wear minimal to a lot of makeup, this step would be really good for you! just an extra precaution in order to remove most makeup 2. Foam/Water Based Cleanse If the first cleanse *truly* isn’t needed, I recommend starting here. Double cleansing is really recommended, but not always needed. Start your routine off with a good cleanse to clear up oil and debris. 3. Exfoliate Like Dr. Alexis said, enzyme exfoliants are recommended for hyperpigmentation, so you can find one that suits your skin type. 4. Treatment 5. Moisturizer 6. Sunscreen (Go for a physical sunscreen! Chemical sunscreens can cause a lot of irritation, leading to worsened hyperpigmentation.) This list isn’t perfect, but this is a good start! you can fix and tweak any steps in order to suit your skin better.
@@chickenstrips623 Dr. Alexis also mentioned the use of BHA exfoliants. I guess you figure out if an enzyme is best for you or not or am I mistaken that a BHA acts as an exfoliate as well?
I think there was a lot of very useful information here, some of which I have not heard in any other video on youtube. But, I think there needs to be - : 1. Better preparation. 2. Slower delivery 3. A more structured organisation. 4. Focus on products to solve the problems, in a way that is easier to assimilate. The information is there somewhere, but I'll most likely have to listen to it 10 or 20 times, to decipher it all. Especially for people of colour, there is a lot of information here, a lot. Just needs much better organisation. For example the presentation format was not uniform, from section to section. I'll watch the more recent videos to see if she has an improved version.
This content is seriously next level! A Doctor and a teacher wow how lucky are we! Your daughter is so adorable🥰. Dietary changes give me the great changes no wheat, dairy, soy, low sugar. I look forward to trying some of the products you shared. Thank you Dr. Stephens!
That was the most incredibly comprehensive video about any subject matter I've ever watched. I'm going to need to watch it a couple of times to take notes! I so wish you had slowed down the portions with the product recommendations. When I come to Florida, I'm going to need to book an appointment with you. Did I mention that you're brilliant? Yeah, you most certainly are. Check out my picture, I'm 59... I only recently became concerned with hyperpygmentation, I've had freckles all my life but for some reason at a certain age, the freckles are no longer cute!
I looked up my moisturizer and found out that it contains stearic acid & palmitic acid. I have hyper pigmentation on my cheeks. So now I will be trying one of the moisturizers you recommended. :) Great Video
I know right?? No one really talked about that before . now I find it struggling to differentiate unsaturated vs saturated fatty acids because they could be written under many different names in the ingredients list :((( hope someone can help
Thank you so much Dr Stephens! This is by far the best and most complete video on hyperpigmentation I have seen! Very helpful and you have such a beautiful voice and smile! thank you🙏🙏🙏

I was literally doing research in regards to the cyspera cream you recommended me😂😂😂🤣🤣 and boom there you are. Can't wait to get rid of these stubborn melasma.
Thank you so much! This video contains a LOT of information, and I’ll have to watch again and take notes. I recently decided to focus on correcting my hyperpigmentation, but I’ve been hesitant to use multiple products and I worried about how they might work (or might not) together. I’m still intimidated by the amount of substances and products presented here, but from what I’m getting from this video - there is no quick or simple solution. And it’s going to be expensive…
This video was so comprehensive. As a science geek, I loved the flowcharts and analogy to people in the car. I understand people with deeper skin color have a bigger issue with hyperpigmentation. Can those of us developing sunspots as we age follow the same advice in the video, or is there a different regimen to follow? I assume retinoids are part of the answer.
Thank you so much! This video just changed my life! I'm living in 🇸🇮 and after 2 pregnancies in 2 years I was left with hyperpigmentation around my face. I went to a dermatologist here and I knew I was doomed when she said I don't need sunscreen because I'm black. This was after prescribing 1% tretinoin + clindamycin. I am so happy that most of what you recommended I can easily find without a prescription. Anyways thank you again for this video. All the best

I feel as if I have a starting point. I'm going to rewatch your video.
Lord Jesus, I felt like I was in somebody's science class trying to understand what is going on. 😭😄🤦🏽♀️ Explain it to me like I'm a child doctor! 😄🤦🏽♀️ Nonetheless, I did complete the video and I'll be back lol thank you for what you do!🥰
Dr Stephens - After 55 years of age.......in 1 night you taught me how to properly take care of my south pacific islander skin! YOU'RE SO KNOWLEDGABLE AND HELPFUL to many. Thank you!
This was a lot. Were these steps/products in order? A video on the exact steps/layers in order would be great.
go see a dermatologist!
@@avanulaneway8418 we don't have black dermatologists in my country which is why I'm watching her!
@@avanulaneway8418 you have a lot of nerve to exclamate "go see a dermatologist" who do YOU think you are?
@avanu Laneway how dear you who do u think you are . The Dr. Is on RUclips meaning she is also an influencer.. and she is making a video. So she should list the products and the order they should be used..
I agree. The video is full of great advice . I look at her then I try to find other videos that give a step by step suggested order to use the products.
Your skin is amazing...I would love to have beautiful skin like yours.... I pray daily for clear skin... I'm tired of wasting money on usless products that don't work.
Your daughter is so adorable and thank you for this much needed information
The baby is the highlight of the whole video 😍😍😍😍😍
This is the proper definition of a good simple skin expert thank you for what you are doing great job. Hope you can train us one on one someday?
Yes please on melasma, but a little clearer in terms of order and steps. Much appreciated!
It’s hard to keep up with the right products we need to use in the correct order.
i gotchu!
1. Oil Cleanse/Micellar Water (optional)
if you wear minimal to a lot of makeup, this step would be really good for you! just an extra precaution in order to remove most makeup
2. Foam/Water Based Cleanse
If the first cleanse *truly* isn’t needed, I recommend starting here. Double cleansing is really recommended, but not always needed. Start your routine off with a good cleanse to clear up oil and debris.
3. Exfoliate
Like Dr. Alexis said, enzyme exfoliants are recommended for hyperpigmentation, so you can find one that suits your skin type.
4. Treatment
5. Moisturizer
6. Sunscreen
(Go for a physical sunscreen! Chemical sunscreens can cause a lot of irritation, leading to worsened hyperpigmentation.)
This list isn’t perfect, but this is a good start! you can fix and tweak any steps in order to suit your skin better.
@@chickenstrips623
Thank you, because my head was spinning.👍🏼
No
@@chickenstrips623 Dr. Alexis also mentioned the use of BHA exfoliants. I guess you figure out if an enzyme is best for you or not or am I mistaken that a BHA acts as an exfoliate as well?
@@seasonedsofisticate1901 bha acts as an exfoliate
Outstanding video thank you Dr.❤🙏
Have you tried to treat with Weedborn CBD products?
Thank you so much. That UrbanSkin is the truth! I have a dark spot due to inflammation and it instantly started breaking up the dark spot.
thank you for the information. I just feel like you spoke to fast.
I think there was a lot of very useful information here, some of which I have not heard in any other video on youtube. But, I think there needs to be - :
1. Better preparation.
2. Slower delivery
Agreed, lot of awesome information but so hard to follow :(
This content is seriously next level!
Wow! The best video I’ve seen on this subject!! Can’t wait to see more videos.
I looked up my moisturizer and found out that it contains stearic acid & palmitic acid. I have hyper pigmentation on my cheeks. So now I will be trying one of the moisturizers you recommended. :) Great Video
I was doing so good, until the moisturizer part 😭😭😭
Anyway thanks, this was so informative 🙌🏼
I know right?? No one really talked about that before .
now I find it struggling to differentiate unsaturated vs saturated fatty acids because they could be written under many different names in the ingredients list :((( hope someone can help
@@vitran6815 cerave daily moisturizer is perfect, it has cholesterol and all the right fatty acids
I need you in my life. I’ve been trying everything, anything, and so much more. My Melasma get worse month after month.
Is it just me or the audio is a little weird?? Love the video though. I'm learning so much!
Super informal - thank you. Can you do a video on getting rid of tech neck and lightening dark lips?
Thank you so much Dr Stephens! This is by far the best and most complete video on hyperpigmentation I have seen! Very helpful and you have such a beautiful voice and smile! thank you🙏🙏🙏
Bless you for this post. The knowledge that you have spent years gathering and accumulating, learning and studying, then giving that over freely to others is truly one of the most beautiful gifts we can give and receive as human beings. So thank you very much. Hope you ,your friends and family are staying safe over there xx
I use Cetaphil moisturising lotion on top of all my actives.
I AM SO HAPPY TO HAVE FOUND YOUR CHANNEL!!! I subscribed immediately!!! I wanted to watch more Black derms on RUclips and you came right into my suggested :)
Yay! Thank you so much for your support❤️
Thank you for this wonderful video. I'm so glad this came up on my recommendation list. I've been looking for a black dermatologist for the longest 😘
Thank you, Dr. Stephens!!! I'm going to try these steps. I've been fighting my hyperpigmentation for years! It's driving me nuts
Same🥲
I’m so happy that I found you. I love your video. The hyperpigmentation video are great since I suffered from it. Can you please do a video about your morning and night routine. I would like to know what kind of supplements are you using. Thank you!
Thank you! I have watched this video several times. We have such a void in this area. Looking to younger sisters to step in. Great need and even greater opportunity. Thanks Dr.
I really loved everything about this video! Informative, easy to understand, and most of all -- a sample treatment regimen! THANK YOU!! I am so glad I found you! 😊
Wow. This could be a lecture in med school, it was so detailed - and well edited, thank you so much!! 🎉
She is my dermatologist you guys🤗🤗🤗🤗 yayyyy!
Can you imagine having this lady in your study group?!☺️
OMG. I felt like I was in a lecture! I literally took notes that I have to go back and study, lol! Thanks for the education!
I would greatly appreciate a video on getting rid of melasma!
Second time I watch this video is like a master class, I will watch it again taking some notes next time.
I needed to discover this page years ago! Now its time to binge. Thank you Dr Alexis!
I love how you broke everything down! Between azelaic acid and kojic acid, which works faster to reduce hyperpigmentation?
Your daughter is soo pretty.
I was literally doing research in regards to the cyspera cream you recommended me😂😂😂🤣🤣 and boom there you are.
Can't wait to get rid of these stubborn melasma.
Yes please make a treatment video for hyperpigmentation!
Keep it up! There's always something new we can learn in the skincare industry.👏👏🙌
Mandelic acid is the best one most gentle
Could you please recommend a good brand for Kojic acid? Thank you for this video
