Not a even a Bentley or Rolls guy, never been. But this thing is gorgeous. The rims are a little dated, some modern burnt bronze rims would have this car looking sharp.
Yo Freddy! If you really want to save $ on this rebuild, start shopping for a 2005 W12 Phaeton - The powertrain is exactly the same, and the interior is nearly the same, plus you can get a running one for like $7-8K - Easy-peasy
The faults shown on the scanner don't necessarily denote the actual number of fixes needed. One fault will then trigger others within a system. One small electrical fault - bare wiring, for example, can cause all sorts of crazy codes to come up everywhere.
@@djoleme2510 I respectfully disagree. But it's up to you whether you watch his video's or not. Can't wait to see him progressing on this W12 to be honest. And I really don't care how he does it or how long he takes. The beauty of free entertainment.
To open the boot lid when the battery is dead give power to the car via the cigarette lighter port and then you can open it without removing the rear seats or anything else.
@@BeamBoi92 It will probably work with any car with a 12V socket as long as the fuse is ok , I'm using this cable ( Draper 12V Vehicle to Vehicle Car Battery Charger/Booster Cable ) I've got mine off eBay
You'd think he would know that simple solution being on YT talking about fixing cars, but I hear a lot of guessing and looking for the easy way out, which he has a hard time finding. "Vacuum leak & ecu problem... Hmmm... Let's replace the entire engine!" 😅
DO NOT SPRAY HEAT EXCHANGERS WITH A PRESSURE WASHER. Those aluminum fins are fragile, you'll do more damage to them. Also, the A/C condenser is SHOT(possibly literally). The whole system needs to be gone through and repaired/replaced before adding any R134A.
Odd to go for an engine swap before any actual fault analysis of what's already there. Fix the air leak and LOOK at the plugs & timing before anything more drastic. "New" engine will have its own issues.
true, but i'm assuming the engine that he bought will be less worn out considering the mileage of this car. no point in putting in a ton of work into this one when you may be able to get a new engine with less wear and tear for a bit more
Should be able to recoup a significant percentage of the cost of the replacement engine by selling the old engine as a core. If there is no major damage to it, it should be worth several thousand still.
@@tavarish if you need to pull the engine anyway, might as well check whats wrong with it. if the entire bank is low on compression, chances are very high that the fault is somewhere in the cilinder head, seems very implausible that all the pistonrings on just one side of an engine gave up. new head is alot cheaper than a different engine. even if you pull it apart and it seems unfixable, you can still order the engine. maybe its just something like a blocked intake plenum, cant compress air much if it doesnt get any air. to me it seems like this engine is easily fixable so not to be rude but i think youre wasting alot of money.
I bought a 12 year old BMW and practically rebuilt it but still ended up a scrap job..this is a lesson to anyone, unless you are a mechanic and auto technician with access to cheap parts and diagnostics for the car it IS best to walk away from a money pit and buy two decent cars for the same price instead ..people that abuse cars like this should be shot... in this case probably were
You absolutely have to work on your own cars to own a cheap european car...you have to think outside the box. Otherwise, dropping this off at a specialst for repairs and service probably wouldn't be much cheaper than leasing one!
It’s amazing that you have the knowledge and skill to fix something like this and you take such joy in doing it. Makes me sad that I never learned a skill like this, what you do is amazing!!
Pretty much man, but you know theres a sucker out there that's frothing at the mouth when he sees a 28K price tag on a 14 year old Bentley. He'll realize the grave mistake he made when the cost to replace brake pads on these cars will damn near match the value of the car lol.
Depends on the cars history. The car is very very reasonable to maintain. And the comment about the brakes is absolute rubbish. Yes they more than a civic but not much more than most AMG models
I fully agree that this Continental has not been maintained and badly treated. My Continental R was 12 years old when I sold it, and properly maintained it looked and it drove like a new machine. I was the third owner. They are all designed to do this over a long life time. The batteries have a shut down switch - used it!
That's just not true. The problem is people who buy a used one and expect the running costs to be as a cheap as a Ford. Buy a good one used, expect big bills, ultimately save tens of thousands.
Yo Freddy, I like when you stick to one car at a time, and make progress on the build/project. Maybe I'm in the minority on that opinion, but I don't see how hopping around different cars is going to keep viewers engaged and drive your subscribe numbers higher. Enjoyed your Lambo build, and would like to see it fully finished, but starting to lose interest. Best of luck in your decision.
He's a perfectionist and wants it to match lol. There's no way the dude buys and fixes cars for a living and doesn't know that the sticker is for the factory tires.
Lonny Hennessy He wasn’t being a perfectionist, he was simply wrong. He knows far less about cars and mechanics than you give him credit for. It doesn’t take watching many of his videos to figure that out. Defending him indicates you know as little as he does about the matter.
Yup, iwb carry and unless he is a lefty he won't be able to draw while seated. Prob some wanna be Russians. All show no go like this car. People requiring a psd don't drive Bentleys.
My suggestion to you is to pour 5 gallons of gasoline evenly across the exterior and interior, and then use a Bentley lighter very carefully and light. No problems!
Just by looking at your video I know this car is going to end up running like a champ cuz that's just how you are can't wait to see the process and I'm guessing you're going to get that engine out I would
The wood in the console that is coming apart I can fix if needed. It’s most likely English walnut burl or Turkish walnut burl. I’m have been a wood worker for 20 years.
A vacuum leak in this case is from the pistons, he did mention that in this video and in the previous videos. Six of the 12 cylinders are not generating enough pressure, hence the rough idle. Pretty difficult to repair that.
@@VanillaSnake21 - He said the compression was bad, true. But he also stated he thought it might be from the valves(cylinder heads). I'd rather replace the heads than replace the whole motor. Only way that motor was toasted is if the pistons themselves were torched. A lot of things can cause low compression. Most fixable without needing to replace the engine. His engine sounded like it ran good, minus the misfiring. I would've tackled that instead of just buying another motor.
@@shotss-si3ze I doubt the motor is worth the rebuild. In currently battling the same issue. No way anybody would be mad enough to fix this motor. People don't understand that this is a interference motor and it will crack the block without warning. So many things need to be replaced such as the cam caps and all torq bolts holding that in are 1 time pressure use. You would come out significantly cheaper buying a newer engine
@@VanillaSnake21 THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE LOUD ASS VACUUM LEAK CAUSING THE ENTIRE ISSUE AND THE COMPRESSION THAT WAS NEVER TESTED. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A PISTON VACUUM LEAK.
Have you or Hoovie done a leakdown yet, or done any other diagnostic aside from scanning codes? This engine is probably fine. all your symptoms are vacuum related, fix the vacuum leak, and you're good to go. Compression, maybe it jumped timing, they're chain engines and the service gets neglected, but they're non-interference i believe. I have a W8 (not the same, but the same) had pretty much the exact same symptoms and CELs (air intake leak, implausible signal brake booster, one bank of cylinders leaning out and misfiring), replaced 2 vacuum hoses on the PCV system with $6 worth of hose, cleared the codes and it's good as new. And it's got 230k miles on it. Don't dump the engine just because it's got a vacuum leak. or if you do, let me know. I'm nearby and I'll come take it off your hands.

Hey Tavarish, can you make a video of you actually fixing things on your car instead of these documentaries? The guys at mighty car mods explain what's wrong with the car and fix it so it the video flows. It'd be great if you could do the same.
I agree with the OP here. Some of the previous vids were interesting but it seems as if he has now conformed to the YT algorithms like all other creators where you need to drag it out in order to increase AdSense placements. I imagine there’s data to suggest video length, too. This is all understandable as he’s seeking to maximize profit since he’s investing more on vehicles and the shop lease. I guess the “new” generation of car guys may appreciate content as such and I’m just too old school for this F&F franchise created fan base. I think we’ve served our time out with this sub. Godspeed to you, Tavarish! Best of luck in your future builds.
When talking about the rear tyres, it said " never exceed 40psi when seating the bead ". That doesn't mean the max pressure, it's only the pressure you shouldn't exceed when seating the bead to the rim after fitting the tyre. Check around it again to find the max pressure. I think the tyre is all good :)
And the tires that are on are M + S, mud and snow, winter tires. In the winters you use smaller tiers. This is my first video from this channel and is he a amateur?
The paint "mismatch" is due to material differences. Metal panels are generally painted using an electrostatic process these days. When doing so, the "flakes" in the paint will tend to arrange themselves in a certain repeating pattern just due to the electrical charge and the shape of the flakes. The plastic panels, however, can't be coated with this method because, well, they are plastic. So they are sprayed. When spraying the flaked paint, the flake arrangement will be completely random unlike the paint applied using the electrostatic method. So in the end, it's not really a different shade, its the arrangement of the flaking that makes it look slightly different..
@funkyzero The passenger front fender matches the front bumper but neither match the rest of the car. The car has obviously had the front, rear bumpers and passenger fender repainted. 7:56 the fender clearly has a different tone than the hood.
@@funkyzero he is right though, even if you are correct in your information about electrolysis painting. Bentley usually hand paints all of their cars, because of cost and because of the "handmade" speil. And the jackass who says it isn't an art when it comes to spraying metallic flake paint on a car, more the less plastic vs. metal, is making it very clear he doesn't know a damn thing about paint and body work. Metallic and pearls are the hardest thing to do when painting anything.
@@Gottiline_Ace a reasonable assessment. wouldn't be surprised if I found out Bentley hand-sprayed their cars. That being said, that fact alone can result in even more visual mismatch (between batches, not single car panels though). My point was that the flake can make a dramatic difference and you have to be a near master at blending to get it to work most times... leading many to simply re-paint the whole dang car and get it over with. things get even worse when you throw is slight fading next to fresh sprayed and then highly buffed paints. The offsets can be dramatic. Judging by the condition of this car, I'd re-spray the entire thing unless I was just looking for a quick flip. Even then, a proper re-spray can dramatically add to the selling price if done cleanly
there's a much easier way to open the trunk when battery is dead;remove cover and air filter on passenger side under bonnet and open the little box against the firewall, you will see the + and - poles, just jump it with another battery and open the trunk normally .
Same as I've seen in some other high end cars. Some even have a positive and negative marked set of bolts with red and black cables leading back to the battery, and they are exposed for easy access. I owned a used car dealership for a few years and have had to jump start plenty of our cars from lack of use. BMW 750il was one I remember being as I described.
@@routefive2231 absolutely. Once you reset the computer you need to run the car for 30 mins or more to get the accurate reading back. The computer takes time to test for faults. Any half ass mechanic knows this.
You should check with EricTheCarGuy and see if he is interested in tearing the top end apart after you pull the engine out and seeing if it can be repaired at a reasonable price and resold to pay him and recoup most of the price of the engine you just bought.
@@BOTmaster15 Depends on what the problem is. It might just need a drivers bank timing chain, chain guides and a few valves replaced. Yes that would be lots of work but much cheaper than sourcing an entire engine. I always work on my own engines so I don't factor labor costs in anything other than when the machine shop resurfaces a head or bores a block. If it has severe engine damage then I agree with you.
If I had that used Bentley, I'd be looking at an LS Swap, then I'd have a reliable daily driver while everybody thought I had a finicky British luxury marque.
"An exotic supercar that had been through 3 natudak disasters, 2 smokers, and no maintenance done at all? No worries, call my buddy tavarish. Freddy will fix it!"
Bro that car needs a good mechanic not an engine. I could fix that car. Dont buy an engine get a good mechanic. Those codes were so common. None scream engine damage.
That low battery is setting 90% of those codes especially the seats pull a shitload of juice to move and is setting code every time you touch the switch. The ecm could be voltage related. And a huge vacuum leak that sounded like a shop vac. No knock codes or anything catastrophic. Please don't pull that engine the car is going to have to be on anti rejection shit if you transplant that alien engine into her.lol.
This. The price of a "new to you" engine can fix a great deal I suspect with a good mechanic (and not the dealer). From the other videos, there seems to be a bit of of an obsession with the cosmetics (eg. wheels and tires). I would drop that engine money into repair, forget the paint/ body fit/spacers (erg), and get it mechanically up to snuff......then drive the hell outta it.
I like watching these vids to an extent myself but like you guys i hate listening to explanations or bad assumptions but i guess its just supposed to be entertaining
Apart from the tread, the giveaway was the fact that they read 'M + S' on the sidewall - DOH! They will be totally useless in Florida and really shouldn't be used much above +7 degC (+45 degF), never mind they are the wrong speed rating, they are also the wrong load rating. They should be a minimum of LR101 - 825kg, whereas the fitted load rating is LR98 - 750kg. 'T' should worry more about the correct performance rating rather than what they look like (it's a worrying trait that appears all too often). It will be interesting to see in the future what the seller's mileage is for the vehicle because it looks to be at least 150K mls old.
Maybe try some basic diagnosing before putting the new engine in. Maybe the car wizard missed something and this can be fixed relatively easily with a bit of elbow grease?
Right?!? I don't really watch his vids much but from the way he describes the fault he has a decent mechanical knowledge. First find the vacuum leak and fix it even if it is an intake gasket, pull the valve covers off while your there, check timing etc. If it still needs an engine, hey experience and knowledge gained in the process is invaluable.
Somebody who has experience with German engineering. I bought a 6k engine for my audi a8 before yanking it. It nuked itself I ended up having a cracked block from a timing issue. @tavarish I understand...
Your statement makes sense but he is doing RUclips videos and making a living off it so he needs to be quick about things, that lambo took forever but people need to realize when a car has a bunch of issues it just doesn't get fixed over night or over the weekend. He probably doesn't want to mess around and waste time. I'm with the rest of you, us poor folk would have to first see if we could fix what we had first them move forward from there. Still gotta admit this guys channel is really good if your into trying to fix unique cars us men love to drive.
I don't think that the engine is busted. Perhaps some electrical problem o the vacuum leak. Anyway for the price of the engine is worth to try to see if it's repairable.
I think the panel gaps and the exhaust fitting match perfectly with the idea of something being hand made in Britain. Just like Clarkson said, having something made in Britain is "just another way of saying the door is going to fall off". Don't expect a rare car being as well made in terms of fitting as a 50k BMW or Merc or Audi. The fault list around 15:00 actually hurst physically to look at. :D
I love the Flex Seal ad guy's somewhat of a lisp whenever he says the words "F'LEX SEAL.." Kinda sounds like Sylvester the cat in the ad's to me.. ha. "We sawed this model chick in half.... and with just a bit of Flex Seal she's good to go...." As you can see, there's barely any leakage .... Well, maybe a little leakage..... Next we cut this Bentley GT in half and patched it right up with Flex Seal ... Flex Seal cleared ALL the trouble codes.. ! Amazing!!! Now I'm gonna go fishing in my Flex Seal boat with the bottom cut out,...... before it sinks. Ciao
That model of Continental GT has A LOT of problems with vacuum leaks, that can easily be fixed when you have the engine out. You have the boost actuators at the top of the gearbox, which can be fixed with the engine still on the car but it is a PAIN ! So you're better off taking the engine out, replacing all the plastic tubes with copper, and it's a clever idea if you change the actuators too. You have 2 on the top of the gearbox, 2 on the top of the engine between banks(when you lift the small "Flying B" cover, and one on each side of the engine next to the exhaust manifolds.Engine removal is quite straight forward, you will need to lower it from the chassis(never tried to remove it from the front). VERY IMPORTANT, mark the position of the subframe, otherwise your alignment will be off. Also check on the firewall, you have some vacuum plastic pipes that go to the wheel arches that commonly leak.A smoke test will help you ALOT. Have Fun !
@@timmattisson1318 That would count as "history", wouldn't it? About the same kind of history like the U.S. not yet being the number one international drone terrorists ....
this car has clearly been stolen, torn down, bought back at auction and then put (poorly) back together. It was driven very hard and couldn't possibly sell for anywhere near what a good used one is worth even after you dump 12g into it. A new engine was a terrible call. The fact that you paid so much attention to fit and finish but it didn't make you suspicious of its history astounds me. Flipping may not be your strong suit, my friend.
Just like the flipping TV-shows, youtubers are not making a penny on the flips for the most of the time. They make their profits from the show. The worse money pit they buy, the more views/comments they get.
@@narcissistinjurygiver2932 - Right. And to buy a flipped car out of Russia? The question isn't what was he thinking. The question is what was he smoking.
@sdsteve1000 no one in their right mind buys a Bentley as a fixer upper. The cost for the parts to repair it is just way too much, and when you go to sell it, someone that can afford Bentley upkeep, isn't buying a 14 year old beat up Bentley. At best, this is a parts car. (Former used car dealership owner)
It can be done with a total shed like this - but there's a substantial amount of risk and to a degree gambling which generally isn't good business. But then it can be done very profitably too if you know where to source. As for 'the people that afford Bentley upkeep' - when you're selling something like this, you're aiming at 'the people who want to buy a cheap Bentley'. The market certainly exists.
He's got a million views on the video, admitting that the car's history screams stolen would be a videotaped and widely distributed confession to a felony... imho he knows but just couldnt resist the bentley badge
I did and it's still my daily driver. 80k miles on the odometer. It's a 2004 and it has no faults. Never gave me any trouble at all. Last trip to the dealer they used the word "pristine" to describe it after they diagnosed the car.
You realize the sticker on the door for the tires did not apply when you change the wheels/tires. That's a recommendation for the stock wheels. You would go by the weight rating and recommended psi on the tire  Also, you don't need a new engine. Just pull it and fix. We know you're not going to buy an actual new engine. A used engine can have the same problems. Just take it apart and rebuild it
All things considered, the shit you had to go through for sooo much stuff on the Lambo, I really don't think it took that long. Any one of these internet keyboard mechanics with the same car, same condition, and same resources would still be trying to fix the clutch. Take your time, do it right, make half hour videos about everything. That's pretty much all the non-haters want out of you.
Out the bottom is easy if you get some 6x6 timbers. You use a floor jack and build a “log cabin” underneath the car as you raise it. I put the engine cradle on snowmobile dollies and raise the car until it clears. Way way easier than out the front.

Sorta given folks that really know a thing about cars a bad rap. But hey this is you tube so anything goes. I'm no mechanic myself and I didn't see a code significant enough to put in a whole new engine. Good luck with transplanting that other engine. That may cause you more problems than your fancy code reader brought up.
Corrosion is the main culprit.....clean all grounds....pull negative cable, then positive, then touch together for 30 seconds reattach to batteries THEN run code search lol.
Yep and that pit a whole lot deeper with how this one was treated. No dought all the $$$thrown at this won't be his money anyway. Probobly sponsor money. A project to get views.
Zf 6hp26 will put up with a fair amount of abuse but they're generally a bit lazy on the shifts. Shift edit will help out a lot, check if sct support Bentley, we use their programmers on turbo falcons and territories here in Australia. They produce a lot of heat so keeping 'em cool is key to longevity not to mention using only the recommended trans fluid, ford called it lifeforce.
If you read the manual, there's probably a much easier way to open the trunk with a dead battery. On my car, there is a metal tab in the fuse box. Hook a jumper box up to that and a ground and you can activate all the electronics. If there isn't that, you could pull a fuse and back feed power from that fuse to the whole system.
You have to remember ,esp' here in the UK the type of people who buy these cars replace them when the ash tray is full so they get rid before anything begins to go wrong ,a bit like Range Rovers
This car has same problems as your SL55 - all low voltage related. Replace the AGM battery and keep it on a good trickle charger whenever it is parked. Then erase all your codes and start fresh. Your real issue can be mechanical so get it started, check compression and vacuum and proceed to spend money.
My neighbor has one of these bentleys and the engine threw a rod or had some catastrophic failure. He put an LSX chevy motor in the car with a GM 6 speed transmission and now the car runs and sounds like a hotrod vette lol.
@Terry Melvin How can u even compare XJS to Continental? There is nothing similar. U can easily throw any engine into xjs and it will work fine as long as it fits into its place. There is 40 years of development between those cars, that is long time in car industry...
Did you note the VIN? So if you are looking for one of these then avoid this one. When you change an engine like this one in my country, you have to take it to RMS (licensing and registration) along with the old engine. The old engine can then only be used for parts. They grind off the engine number and then engrave "Scrap Only". You also have to get the swap certified and the emissions systems checked before hand or it will be seized and investigated. We used to have a roaring business in swaps and half cuts etc...called rebirthing. Now its really difficult to do engine swaps. Oh...and the cost of a new engine in one of these is $30k. Even a Lexus V12 is $26k. In most cases its just easier to rebuild the original where possible. Now if you were to buy a hybrid the complexity is immense. You have to get it done by the dealer to protect the 7 year statutory warranty that has to be provided on all new cars.
Let those diagnostic codes be a stern lesson to everybody out there. Like 80% of the "problems" magically vanished when the battery had decent charge. Next time you get a skeezy mechanic trying to convince you your whole ride is moments from imploding, maybe get a second opinion somewhere else....
Actually, you have to drive or let the car run for at least 30 minutes after a code reset. Every car on the planet will show hardly any codes after a reset. Check engine light will even be off for a while and comeback after the cars ecu has had time to adjust to the atmosphere and tell you faults. No one should ever trust codes after a fresh reset.
@@Chrisnuzzo76 Yep, and sometimes even more games with code/computer reset. Took me 10 or more tries to reset the tire pressure sensor on a 2013 Camry. I may also be one of the few if only person who figured out how to reset the computer on a the first gen Acuras, that were supposedly non useable once a start was attempted, with the distributor accidentally unplugged. Known OBD0 design fault. Trick was to actually ground one of the PCM reset terminals, versus jumper both reset terminals which works under normal conditions. @@billg7205 Speaking of TPS systems, those tire pressure sensors even have to be put through a process to sync up with the computer(whether ecu or sensor is replaced). Too many people think you can just replace parts and the problem will go away, not so on modern cars with their excessive electronics. I'm just a back yard mechanic, but I try to research everything before I even think of doing my own repairs.
@@Chrisnuzzo76 Yeah they're not all the same either. Local WW2 veteran friend I help out took a 2009 Malibu to the local dealer, who seemingly didn't understand the sequence, from the information he was telling me. Wouldn't be surprised. Of course they took his money and didn't fix anything. I told him to never buy a car there again, let alone go there. Like you said researching is what resourceful people do. If you're a skilled mechanic, you may be ahead of a number of dealer mechanics, with all the information available to us. Bought an OEM rear door lock actuator for him from across the US and installed it. Part cost was at least 50% less, and I charged him next to nothing. One would think that since he bought the car there, and with the actuators on that car having one of the worst track records, they would not try to rook him, but that's what dealers do.
1.The tires are all season and narrower so you don't plow snow. The lower profile is so you can imperess friends with a Chirp when you punch the throttle from stop.(when you fix the hose)2.The cooler is toast from road salt.Yikes.3.A vacuum line doesn't cost 6-10g.Dang.4..is just because it's a Bentley for 11g..Wow.
Once you reset the computer you need to run the car for 30 mins or more to get the accurate readings back. The computer takes time to test for faults. BTW, it's possible the vacuum leak is the culprit behind your rough idle. Throws off air fuel ratio.
While we are all whinging.... The sticker on the car is for the OEM tyres that come with the car. It's irrelevant what the sticker says once you put on aftermarket tyres that aren't the same as the original tyres... at which point you should be using the pressure ratings on the tyres themselves and ignoring the sticker.
As far as tire pressures go, you really shouldn't be worried about the specified pressure being so close to the max pressure of the tire, especially since they are only 51 PSI tires. Don't stand next to them while inflating, but other than that, it should be fine. Don't expect to find any tires that fit that car with a higher max pressure than 51. Going past that limit puts you at C(van) and LT tires, neither of which come in the size you need.
Well the material IS called aluminium, that’s the name of it. Why americans can’t be bothered to spell and pronounce it right is beyond me. What’s even worse is when they try to convince people that their way of saying it is the right way.

Yo Freddy! If you really want to save $ on this rebuild, start shopping for a 2005 W12 Phaeton - The powertrain is exactly the same, and the interior is nearly the same, plus you can get a running one for like $7-8K - Easy-peasy
Are they exactly the same? I don't think the Phaeton had turbos. But yes, lots of other parts are common.
Then he can have 2 different VWs on the shite “W” platform! Maybe he can find a Passat W8 and completely drain his bank accounts
Dude replace your battery bet a lot of those codes go away .

Phaeton W12 is NA
The faults shown on the scanner don't necessarily denote the actual number of fixes needed. One fault will then trigger others within a system. One small electrical fault - bare wiring, for example, can cause all sorts of crazy codes to come up everywhere.

Yeah I was thinking the same. He must have got a REALLY good deal on that used engine.
Any sort of timing or cylinder head work and the engine has to come out anyway. It's much easier to get another engine that I know is good.
true, but i'm assuming the engine that he bought will be less worn out considering the mileage of this car. no point in putting in a ton of work into this one when you may be able to get a new engine with less wear and tear for a bit more
Should be able to recoup a significant percentage of the cost of the replacement engine by selling the old engine as a core.

Ownership costs for a Bentley are horrific... if you can't afford a new one, you most certainly can't afford an old one.
Steve O'Hare ????

Ahh damn a vacuum leak.. now i need to replace my engine.
@@dtspilot im with you on that. Im willing to bet the motor is good. Just needs some TLC. He also mentioned ECM which could cause the car to run bad.
@@shotss-si3ze I doubt the motor is worth the rebuild. In currently battling the same issue. No way anybody would be mad enough to fix this motor. People don't understand that this is a interference motor and it will crack the block without warning.

Could easily be something like that, the laying down of the mettalic flake is an art.
@funkyzero The passenger front fender matches the front bumper but neither match the rest of the car. The car has obviously had the front, rear bumpers and passenger fender repainted. 7:56 the fender clearly has a different tone than the hood.
@@houseofno geez here we go. I give some solid information and I'm swarmed by morons who've never mixed a batch of paint in their lives.

@@BOTmaster15 Depends on what the problem is. It might just need a drivers bank timing chain, chain guides and a few valves replaced. He said one side of the engine is low on compression, soooo the vacuum leaks are the least of the problems.
Bentley engines are never "busted". How uncouth!

Have Fun !

12:54 I love how casually he owns the fact that his vaunted Bentley is really just a VW :P
Protect us from fools and amateurs: the engine faults were for a turbo sensor and a vacuum pipe NOT AN ENGINE.
bingo
Lets Rev an engine that apparently all the Valves may be burnt down that side ...it has 1000 faults BUT lets Rev the Fukc out of it ,,,,All the NERDS from school have found a way to get heaps of money with No work and Have NO Idea about actual Engines ,,, Fukc the Internet I will be happy when there is a way for the world to take Back all their Likes and Subscribes leaving all you entitled lazy turds with ,,,,well Nothing Hope one of your 10 , 20 , or who gives a flying Fukc cars falls on your head,,, Signed ,,Sick of Actual Nerd car Nerds and Hipster Bike Riders
Corrosion is the main culprit.....clean all grounds....pull negative cable, then positive, then touch together for 30 seconds reattach to batteries THEN run code search lol.
..so you paid 11K for a hooptie Bentley with tons of issues.... from Russia?
You should take up gambling. It's a safer bet.
Endless money pit- Scotty Kilmer
Also he'd tell you to trade it for a Camry or something 😉
A Celica
Yep and that pit a whole lot deeper with how this one was treated. No dought all the $$$thrown at this won't be his money anyway. Probobly sponsor money. A project to get views.
Zf 6hp26 will put up with a fair amount of abuse but they're generally a bit lazy on the shifts. Shift edit will help out a lot, check if sct support Bentley, we use their programmers on turbo falcons and territories here in Australia. They produce a lot of heat so keeping 'em cool is key to longevity not to mention using only the recommended trans fluid, ford called it lifeforce.
No, It weighs 6000 pounds because it’s a land yacht
Spacers Are Bad...New Wheels It's A Bentley, Throw Some Black Aftermarket's.
No
If you read the manual, there's probably a much easier way to open the trunk with a dead battery.
You need to learn how tyre pressures and load ratings work
You need to get off his nuts you judgemental slob
@@ArrowheadPride4Ever That escalated quickly.
I agree. At least he recognized their not the original tires. Work on fundamentals of tire pressures and load ratings later😀
This car has same problems as your SL55 - all low voltage related. Replace the AGM battery and keep it on a good trickle charger whenever it is parked. Then erase all your codes and start fresh. Your real issue can be mechanical so get it started, check compression and vacuum and proceed to spend money.
Tavarish, the automotive sloppy seconds specialist.
15:35 "We Gucci" ... and I'm on the floor laughing :D
You can start the car on auxiliary battery by turning ignition key to the left if main battery is flat. Saves taking seats out!
My neighbor has one of these bentleys and the engine threw a rod or had some catastrophic failure. He put an LSX chevy motor in the car with a GM 6 speed transmission and now the car runs and sounds like a hotrod vette lol.
Now that's how you make German crap (used to be British, owned by RR until 1980, but they are now owned by Volkswagen) good!
Yeah, right. Put shitty us and a engine and tranny to bentley continental. I would definitely like to see that combo.... WORKING FLAWLESSLY

AMERICAN IRON
@Terry Melvin How can u even compare XJS to Continental? There is nothing similar. U can easily throw any engine into xjs and it will work fine as long as it fits into its place. There is 40 years of development between those cars, that is long time in car industry...
I love that Bodystyle ... one of my favorites.
It’s “max 40psi to seat tire” and almost every performance tire says that
Let those diagnostic codes be a stern lesson to everybody out there.
I'm sure a Bentley expert would know things the average person would not find on the internet.
“but the ride control system... we gucci!” 💀
The thumbnail says “wtf” on the trunk and “lol” on the roof, lmao ok
Once you reset the computer you need to run the car for 30 mins or more to get the accurate readings back. The computer takes time to test for faults. BTW, it's possible the vacuum leak is the culprit behind your rough idle. Throws off air fuel ratio.
You do garage updates every flipping week
Never exceed 40psi TO SEAT BEAD - you can't be that dense...
Same thought
Also going to por 15 a cooler???
Also thought the same thing
While we are all whinging....
The sticker on the car is for the OEM tyres that come with the car. It's irrelevant what the sticker says once you put on aftermarket tyres that aren't the same as the original tyres... at which point you should be using the pressure ratings on the tyres themselves and ignoring the sticker.
Nokians take like 75 or 80 to get them to seat right lol.
Ah bro this is exciting man! Can’t wait to see progress in this baby. 11k is a SWEET deal
Its fecking beautiful. Whats the problem? You are a lucky man.
11:31 .........................
Vacuum Leak:Hey guys ChrisFix here!
13:55 - 'THE ELECTRONINCS" !?! Maybe similar to 'Aluminium' in Ye Olde Blighty
CRAP
Tavarish it happens to the breast of us.
In german, "aluminium" would be right...
@@chiclone-tests71 Aluminium is right, electroninics is questionable.
Well the material IS called aluminium, that’s the name of it. Why americans can’t be bothered to spell and pronounce it right is beyond me. What’s even worse is when they try to convince people that their way of saying it is the right way.
