From a 3rd person perspective, players use a variety of weapons (pistols, machine guns, flamethrowers) and stratagems (turrets, airstrikes, etc.) to shoot and kill the alien threats. Players can also aim down the sights for a more accurate 1st person camera view. Combat is accompanied by frequent sprays of blood and dismemberment as players exterminate the alien forces or players and squad mates are hit by environmental explosions or friendly fire. Enemy encampments and battlefield environments depict bloodstains and dismembered corpses.

      fun fact. a black hole on the surface of a planet would be exactly as effective as a black hole in the center of a planets core. that is, if AHGS was able to code a loading bar properly. 10 hours in and we're 0.29% complete with 2 days 14 hours remaining. i solo'd one of these missions at level 9 with 3 teammates that were dead for the final 25 minutes of the mission with the singular regenerating reinforcement dying in 10 seconds every time I reinforced them with a total of 9 unique individuals connecting to the mission and quitting or disconnecting due to technical issues. and that was my only successful attempt. the balance director is still employed by AHGS btw.

    Here's a better tip for extraction: lay prone right against a wall. There's a tower next to extraction, and those flying bugs will abort their fly-bys when they're nearing a wall

      But what about all of the other bugs? What we all did was just run hot laps around extract. Most of us had shotguns anyway and they make quick work of shriekers and I was running the liberator concussive so I just knocked back anything that they didn't kill with their shotguns

    I’m loving this absurd difficulty, the only I’m not enjoying is SuperEarth telling me that my Helldivers conduct was dishonorable when these 5 heroes sacrificed their lives for freedom and democracy against waves and waves of terminids.

    The dark fluid backpack is what the jump pack should have been.
    They should upgrade it maybe via ship module.
    Include it in the lore saying how the se scientists combined jet fuel with dark fluid and formed a stable dark super fuel.
    It's so much more fun to use

      @@Bober077 I honest don't think it's necessary. The jup pack does not really do much other than reposition you tactically
      Even if it's op it won't affect the enemies much
      But the gameplay could be so much more fun
      Better sniper builds
      Flanking bases.
      Hop in hop out gorrila warfare
      So much fun
      I wish the devs remever that this is first and foremost a video game

      Be careful using the dark fluid jump pack. Use it too frequently and it will explode.

      I think the more missions completed, the less the bug forces resist liberation percentage. At first i checked helldivers io and it was 10 resistance, now its 7.50 or something like that i last checked. So eventually we will start making easier progress

    It's amazing. Was a bit overwhelming at first, but we figured out a good strat in about 15 minutes and were consistently completing and extracting on Helldive.

    Smoke grenades and smoke orbital strikes for the streakers at the end. We ran arc resist armor and Tesla towers and smoke

      yeah my team ran 3 tesla towers because it seems likr they mostly come from 3 directions just make sure you place them far enough away from the drill because it can and will destroy the drill. we alos all took the stun grenadesbut one guy who took the new impact fire grenade. we also took took 1 ems turrent and ems strikes plus the new smg for stunning the bugs with it.

    Another strategy my play group found was a machine gun/gattling turret build. Sometimes offense is the best defense.

      The og mech is good to its MG handle the swarm and if you can hit your rockets you can drop BTs fast

    Kind of sad we don’t have more supercolony missions. The egg missions are non stop breaches and it’s so chaotic, I love it a lot.

      I agree with you, Helldive actually feels like a helldive!
      I wish all helldives where like this, so we have a choice to do them, if you don't like them, just play a different difficulty!
      current standard Helldive should be a difficulty 7/8 in my opinion.
      (well, they did announce a difficulty 10, so maybe my wish will be granted with this new difficulty?)

      @@xeviusUsagi helldivers 1’s highest difficulty was actually super hard. Most helldives in 2 are manageable but I don’t need samples or anything. I’d rather play for the craziness knowing I’m most likely going to lose. Honestly the type of fun the game is missing sometimes

      I kind of have to agree with you on this one. It's especially disappointing because I would assume Pilsted was more involved in this latest MO since his repositioning, and so I kind of let myself have higher expectations for things going forward. Maybe that was a mistake.

      ​​@@Sharkie504 no he wasnt. This MO has been leaked and no update was pushed to change it when johan switched roles so far nothing has happened since the role switch so everything thats happening is pre planned content nothing new has been added to the game

    Easy strat for everyone. There are rocks next to each of the objective markers. Throw the beacon right at the base and the drill will land on top of the rock. Everything but the bile titan won't be able to touch it.

      Yeah it is just a rumor, it does not work that way. Also wouldn’t make sense, why would be call it down from our ships just to bring it back up. It’s something with he drill icon and the mission icon both being the same objective and the system can’t make sense of it as the objectives on clear one. That’s my guess to the bug anyway.

    Awesome strat! We completed the mission at 7+ with the following: Everyone brings the orbital EMS, quasar, and eagle smoke, 2 people bring the HMG turret and two people bring the rovers.. HMG gets deployed at every cool down opportunity around the map and the rovers get deployed so the people who don't have rovers can get one.. rinse and repeat the payload, and then on extract go prone and watch the rovers cook... load outs are sickle or blitzer for unlimited ammo, grenade pistol, and stun

      Yea turrets for these maps are very important, rover is must for me as it kills the ankle bitters, incendiary breaker is op for the shrieker clouds, and believe it or not iv been rocking incendiary mines on all bug maps as they cool down quick and stay in place for the entire game. I'm average between 500- 900 kills every game.
      Fire never dies alone.

    Gas strike + flamethrower is a magic combo, especially for this new mission. All those bugs literally spawn and immediately die, or shortly die off from being EMS mortared in the middle of the gas + fire combo

    My guard dog finally stopped shooting me in the back of the head and is randomly shooting into the sky.
    Orbital smoke strike kind of helped with all the ground chaff during extraction. Didn't seem to do much about the shreakers.
    The shield sentry did work great to keep the squadmates and sentries from murdering the drill as quickly.

    I played one of these last night with our sniper, and this PRECISION BASED PLAYER WITH AN ERUPTOR, GRENADE PISTOL, AND RAIL GUN ORBITAL AND SUPPORT WEAPON was losing her mind as me and the other guy just had lasers and bullet storms LOOKING like lasers spinning like crazy
    This new mission goes from “oh the chaos” to “that… that wasn’t chaos” where you can literally do the “what the F is a kilometer” meme and hit a hundred bugs without aiming

    been running this mission on lv 7. we were successful everytime. we brought extra ems mortors aside from the free one. 2 gatling turrets. they really do help with the shriekers. rail orbs and lasers. stuns. granade pistols. its hell but we got through everytime we ran it

    this mission type has been super fun and i've been using a ton of different stratagems that i haven't used much to this point. a big problem i've found is that sometimes bug breaches can spawn directly on top of the drill, and when bile titans spawn from them, they destroy the drill instantly before any shots can even be put into them. when that doesn't happen the mission ends up being really intense and fun!

    The alternate fun strategy I have, 1 person taking Smoke nades + Eagle Smoke strategem exclusively for extraction time. The shriekers won't dive bomb your team and makes enemies a little more sluggish to kill easily, this enables your team to stand up and defend properly. Definitely Space out your Eagles, avoid bustin' your load too quickly! Smoke nades could be used on the extract terminal for initial cover, then Eagle from there. Once eagles are empty, throw more smoke nades to refresh your Blanket of cover! Recommend any Engineer armor, or have a resupply pack/Resupply pod ready for extraction time.
    Eagles Smokes Alone shouuuuuld be long enough without requiring resupply! More ways to have fun on a Difficult mission \o/

    Also you can huddle around the one typing the extract command to tank the hits for him, better if someone has a shield or a guard dog.

    Tbh I found getting swarmed kinda fun...I wouldn't even have expected a bug since the mission is taking place on a supercolony.

    we used a stalwart against the shriekers was quite effective since you aren't a sitting duck while reloading

      incendiary breaker is the best for dealing with shrieker hordes. I was getting 20+ kill streaks just emptying shells constantly. Not that it made a difference since you have an infinite number that keep spawning.

    this mission is insane I had to drop my difficulty from hell dive because the squads I played with would get over whelmed and the bugs literally spawn on top of the drill in like packs of hungry wolves and the bile titans are like oh hey we’re here to

      i played on 7 and quite frankly the spawns were manageable despite suboptimal teammates that panicked and sprayed each and every turret and ally with their breaker incendiary constantly or dropping 500s on their heads.
      we had maybe 5 titan spawns and 7 chargers along with tons of hiveguards no spitters. everything except for the titans was taken out by 2 flamethrowers and plenty of enthusiastic incendiary ammo from the breakers. titans were dealt with by 500s and railcannons.
      i only played it once and I have to say I'm not impressed. it feels underwhelming not in terms of a challenge but in terms of the mechanics and enemy spawns. its just another small map that feels hastily thrown together with some dubious enemy spawn rates and locations as well as questionable terrain design. not exactly the epic supercolony I was expecting from the ingame descriptions or the community posts by the devs. the shriekers spawning infinitely during extract feels cheap. it makes no sense from a narrative or strategic perspective and just feels like the devs wanted to force an artificial climax during extract when all they did was make it slightly more annoying.

    Aside from the bugged mission completion I absolutely love this mission. It gives off the same intensity as a level 9 automaton mission and really puts the hell in helldive.

      During extraction it runs continously until it is empty. Works great at other parts of the mission.
      The best way to use it during extraction is to chuck it off to the side 30-45 seconds before the pelican lands. Don't throw it on the landing pad as it will murder your entire squad as it spins in circles.

      Nope. Mech needs to hit, airburst has a long reload, and even if you manage to get help from a teammate, the rockets will kill you both the moment a shrieker gets near.
      I did find the laser doggo surprisingly useful tho.

      best weapon by far is the incendiary breaker followed by the mg and gatling turret. the breaker needs to hit only a few pellets for the fire damage to finish them off. the shriekers however are a non issue as you can simply hug a wall and stay mobile to prevent 80-90% of their attacks.

    You can't remember the drill sites, go to them and call down the dark fluid and drill. You have to go to the dark fluid drop site first, call it down to activate the drill sites, then you can go to the individual sites and call down dark liquid as needed followed by the drill.

    I run Napalm Eagle, Grenade Launcher, EMS Mortar, EMS Orbital, Spear, Supply Pack, Jetpack, Quasar Cannon, Expendable Anti Tank. Everyone should have chaff-clearing equipment but 2 player should have weaponry to kill Bile Titans. I always lock in Napalm Eagle and Grenade Launcher for chaff-clearing across the board, while having two people bring additional EMS Mortars to spread out can lock down waves. EMS Orbital can be dropped right on the drill to stop enemies from just aping it. Sear is good generally at the end, chaff-clearing across the board, and killing Bile Titans with 2 Quasar or 2 Expendable Anti Tank can make quick work of them. Supply Packs can keep everyone loaded up on grenades, ammon, and stims in an emergency while Jetpack can give you mobility to higher areas if you land in a bit of a pit. Grenade Launcher can pop groups of enemies and kill broods easily while spreading out against enemies

    If you're running 4 men squad, have the first guy that runs out of grenades run to the extraction area so he can enter it in quickly before the birds even become a problem.

    The random group I was with did it with Spray and Pray shotguns, Gatling Sentries from an elevated position, impact incidery grenades on the bug holes.
    The shorties and sentries were also useful on extraction.

    You know, the divers that go in, put all this blood and sweat into making the planet into a big black hole, destroying the super colony and then dying for the cause because the bugs doesn't let you extract because what you did to their nest.

    I found that the punisher plasma is very good at sweeping up the bugs, especially when all the shriekers start spawning. Its forgiving with its aim and you don't necessarily need pinpoint accuracy to kill them when they are dive bombing you.

    If you apply Smokes on the drill before inserting the fluid, it will prevent bugs from spawning on it and focusing on it heavily. Then, having 3 eagle smokes each drilling session is enough time to allow the drill to finish.

    So in regards to the bug breaches right next to the drill. The crew I was running with discovered, ( all be it accidentally ) that dropping a Gas strike, followed by another 20 seconds later, is an effective way to handle the little bugs that are difficult to see, in the mound of bug carcasses. Also, right next to the extract, there is a small nook ( looks like a bulkhead covered in bug muck ) that can fit all 4 Hell Divers just peachy like ( a bit snug mind you ) where you can simply just shoot down the shreikers, and handle the regular bug while waiting for the extract vehicle.
    The nook I mentioned is in full view in the vid at 13:20. It's literally behind E3

    I've run the mission on Level 6 and found it manageable, for the most part. 2 of 3 missions succeed.
    I have found the autocannon turret, while incredibly effective against bug breaches, is also highly problematic on this mission type. It tends to blow up the drill because it's targeting a bug next to the drill.
    Flamethrowers are highly effective. EMS in any form works well. Any eagle or destroyer strategem seems to work well, really, if your team is careful in where they deploy them.
    I'm running the AR-23 and default pistol, the standard machine gun, the EAT-17, EMS strike, orbital railgun, and stun grenades. I use the MG and AR to clear chaff, then switch to the railgun and EATs to dispose of heavies. I keep stuns and drop EMS on the bugs if they get too close to the drill. Just gotta keep the thing alive long enough to finish.

    Me and my team run to anti armor loadouts, usually what the quasar cannons and EATs, and the other two run stalwart LMGs for anti-chaff. We love our stun grenades too though. and our gas orbital strikes. The anti-chaff people run supply backpacks with gas stripes and the anti armor members use orbital stun. It's worked out fantastic. The stalwart LMG makes incredibly short work of the flyers during the end stages. Also fantastic I taking out the little guys. And if we need the extra firepower against a Titan or a charger, our anti armor people will just call in their EATs for the anti-chaff squad to help out

    Drop the EMS on the bug breechs, not so much the drill. If you see bugs near the drill stun grenade then kill them. concentrate fire on the breeches. when a Bile Titain or charger spawns, the whole team should fire on them with EATS/Quasars, ORS. loadout- Inc Breaker, stun grenade, grenade pistol, EATS, EMS strike, Ammo supply pack or GD Rover, Orbital Rail Strike. Clear the Spore Trees and any nearby bug holes before starting the drill. call down resupply and EATS. Also, the free EMS Mortor helps

    Honestly dude, really appreciate this solid strategy video & tips on how to deal with this in helldive effectively. I love how this is pushing us to change our meta & to re-think our strategy. Like, I wouldn’t have use EMS/Smoke strike before this but now it makes a lot of sense.
    Despite the bugs and the balancing that needs fixing, I like how you provide a fresh commentary away from the overstated complaints that can’t seem to appreciate how incredible this game still is. We know it needs balancing. We know the AR’s suck ass. We know the patrol spawn rate is fucked, but Hell, I’ve been able to clear multiple Helldive 9 difficulty missions on both bug & bot worlds and have loads of fun while at it in the past week. Plus AH is just a small ass team of 100 people with a suddenly massive game in their hands. Give them a break. As someone who works in the creative field along with developers, these things take time. If you get frustrated, leave and come back when the game fixes are in place. This is not a chore, it’s a game to have fun and personally, I still love it.

    The EMS mortar and Minigun turrets I find are really helpful, the EMS Mortar which was talked about already, but the minigun turret shoots down the flying shitters quite decently, and I carry the Stalwart as my support weapon because the bugs tend to get thick at times and need to be cut down in a hurry, also like the new SMG with its stun to help slow down the bugs, and I like the incendiary impact grenades to burn the bugs around the objective or throw one or 2 at incoming bugs and watch them burn and die just before reaching the objective.

    The only difference i use here is after the last drill is about to complete we have someone get a head start to the extraction point before the Shriekers spawn. when the extraction point lands immediately input the code. this way your whole team is not waiting the full two minutes on their run to the extraction point saving precious time. It takes awhile for the shriekers aggro you at the point. Make sure the guy you send is good at inputting codes fast because they won't have a lot of time.

    I’ve been working with a lot of randoms on the dark fluid missions and they bring CRAZY ordinance, so I usually trust them with slaughtering the majority of bugs while I bunker up on the drill. I usually bring recoilless rifle and three sentries; gatling, machine gun, and autocannon. Usually working with just that I can defend the drill pretty solidly while my team runs around and butchers anything on more than two legs lol

    To do those meridia missions, I use a different build, I like to carry:
    1. machine gun sentry turret
    2. Missile Launcher Sentinel Turret
    3. Poisonous Gas Orbital Attack
    4. Classic Exo suit (not the new yellow one), or maybe 2 orbital attacks instead of the exo suit, 500 Missile, or Orbital Direct Shot (To kill the Titans quickly).
    5. Short magazine Rapid Automatic Shotgun or the normal drum shotgun (the non-incendiary one).
    6. Explosive Contact Grenades
    7. Heavy Medic Armor, or heavy long throw instead.😅😅😅😅😅

    If you stand with your back against the rock wall near extraction the shriekers won't get you. The shield backpack prevents the flinch when being hit so you can take a couple hits while calling for extract. The breaker incendiary also does wonders against the shriekers, since a single shrapnel sets them ablaze and kills them shortly after.

    Also I just wanna put a bit of love out to the mine launcher stratagem. ive ignored it till recently but yesterdays daily was to kill 50 enemies with it. now it'll become one of my main stratagems. I just wish the cool down was around 1:30 or 1:40 not 2:30. the mines are single use so larger enemies just clear the minefield damn near instantly. it would be great to toss them out more frequently. I extract using that on one side and the Tesla tower on the other. narrows what I as a solo player have to deal with.

    With one team we jumped with the backpack on some rocks at the drill sites and dropped the drill over that rock formation, that seemed to work even when the bug breach came right next to the drill, most of the bugs were unable to attack it when it was out of their melee reach. And on top of that I was spamming ems and stuns

    I find on the new mission that 1-2 members on high ground firing down on bug breaches, 1 man next to the drill to keep it clear and one man between the drill and the breach works well.
    Grenade Launcher, Orbital Laser, EMS Sentry, stun grenades, impact grenades. Theres a lot of standar bug stuff that works really well.
    BUT... Please don't light the drill on fire. Don't bring a flamethrower at all. Make sure Napalm strikes are away from the drill, and if someone has a breach covered, you don't necessarily have to throw a 500kg on your friend. It works better when you throw it on the breach instead.
    Also backing into the wall near extraction makes it so you barely have to deal with shriekers. It covers 180 degrees, but their attack path is more like the 90 degrees in front of you, so the wall + attack AI makes it so the shriekers have trouble getting to you.

    Here is what my group did. Especially for the last bit with the shriekers.
    We went with Tesla towers and prototype armor for the last stand on the extraction.
    We would throw smoke out to stop the incoming damage from the flyers.
    As long as you are prone the Tesla towers can't hit you so we would stay prone under the Tesla's while they killed everything coming in

    What they couldve done for extraction is have the instant call-in except the extraction point is on the northern most part of the map. That way it feels like a mad dash to get the hell out while being chased by shriekers and bug breaches happening left and right.

    One strat that works awesome for my squad is go prone to avoid shreikers and use multiple Teslas. Prone makes you avoid their shocks too while clearing birds. Smoke Orbital for key ins to extraction work like a charm as well.

    instant death holes aren't instant death if you can break the position lock on your drop pod and steer the pod into the hole.
    This happened on my first dark fluid mission attempt, to a squad mate. while everyone else was dying over and over again to endless shriekers, he was stuck at the bottom of a "bottomless" hole, unable to get out, and no boom nades to kill himself with.
    I eventually managed to lob enough of my own nades down the hole to kill him before the shriekers got me for the sixth time. We all then killed ourselves twice more to reduce the reinforcement budget to zero and force mission end state.
    We had 19 minutes left on the mission timer, and we ALL wanted out. It was difficulty 4.
    I haven't attempted this mission type since that first attempt. I don't think I will. It was the opposite of fun.
    I'm going to go play No Man's Sky's new expedition until this Major Order is finished or failed.

    If you have a tiny amount of damage save it until you need to jump off a cliff. (You will often) Hit a stim just as you jump. You'll bounce and keep on running.

    We used EATs, Orb rail cannon, Gatling turrets, and guard dogs. We Killed off all of the chaff, and bullied our way through it A couple of us wore heavy armor and stood in the middle of the breaches and just gunned down everything. Took us 16 minuets 29 seconds on our first run at it. We attempted it blind. We just assumed that there were going to be a metric S#!t ton of bugs going into this.

    This is how I complete the mission easily on Helldive
    1 person bring stun grenades (Have him do the infinite grenade glitch), he'll spam near the drill
    1 person brings Recoiless Rifle and one person brings the backpack in order to do assisted reload in order to kill BTs since they're the only threat, also bring EATs just in case there are more BTs or Chargers
    1 person protects the other 2 people

    I WASN'T THE ONLY ONE! I did a couple dives wanting to check that mission out. It was chaos, but oh so fun. But seeing that I failed...even though I didn't confused the hell out of me. We all extracted, each objective done...so why no stars? Could be another factor as to why we don't see the progress bar.
    Thankfully my strats were mostly the same as yours. I go EMS as standard, stun locks are a glorious thing. EATS for any heavies, Rover backpack for little bugs and the last is changeable...though in this case EMS strike seems solid to me. Sadly I don't have stun grenades, but impact is still good just gotta make sure its AWAY from the drill. The shriekers...dear god those shriekers...that took me aback, LOL. Incindery has always been my go-to for bugs, so it works out.

    Just ran this with my usual crew, found a mix of gatlings and gas strikes to be the best way to secure the drills and dropping 4 gatling sentrys at th e insane extract makes a hell of a difference to the amount of shriekers in the skys.

    I went down to trivial level and no change to Shriekers count, had like 10,000 shriekers still attacking you at extraction site and couldn't finish missions, ran out of lives before extraction

    What worked for me was to close all the holes first and than set up arc and land mine traps. They always try to attack the arc first so it was a good distraction. And I used arc armor. You just have to keep track of all the mines.

    load outs are perfect one small thing you can do to stop the smaller bugs from reaching the drill is throwing the drill on a rock. they sit at the base unless its a bile titan or hive guard and only become a problem if you let it build to much while taking out heavies. there are elevated rocks and you can jump and put the pack it literally dunking it its pretty cool. just play around with it but ill find somewhere to post clips of the angle it needs to be thrown.

    my group found blocking the sides with 2 tesla towers with ems mortars closer to the drill also fairly effective, I ran with a blitzer out ahead (blitzer also is pretty effective on the shriekers) and an airburst launcher(effective against both large groups on the ground and then later the shriekers). rest of the group was similarly kitted to how your group was. mainn thing i did was clean up smaller bugs and get the attention of heavies while the other three took them out.

    As far as the actually objection, just use stun grenades on the drill. 6 nades means you can stun lock everything around the drill long enough for it to complete. You use the first wave of attack as a shield against the rest. Stunned bugs = shield. Only thing that must die are bile titans. For extract, gas strike murders shriekers. Got 37 last night from one gas strike.

    A good, easy way to protect the drills would be to summon them tmwhere they would land on top of a rock, then you use the dark fluid jetpack to place it in the drill. If the height andblocation are good, only BTs can hit the drill, and the rest of the bugs should be a-ok to fire upon with any weapon

    If you use the smoke grenade the shriekers can't attack you while you're in the smoke
    that's my biggest tip for the new dark fluid mission
    it'll give you enough time to call evac

    the new smg with the abillity to stun lock bug might also be a good weapon choice

    I would like to recommend a helpful stratagem for these missions hmg machine gun placement. Truns slow which makes no sense because they have a ship module to increase turn speed but doesn't affect the hmg. Everything else about this turret is good. Doesn't take down titans easily and chargers if they touch the turret it insta kills you. Laser cannon cuts down the flying bugs easily as well

    I really like using single target stratagems or the gas strike, also the flamethrower and arc thrower and even the tesla tower does work really good. Also despite that the autocannon mech it’s unable to easily kill bile titans, it does work just fine against everything else

    i heard a mech at evac works because the shriekers can’t fly through them. if this true?
