I was fighting Goht once and I knocked him down, but his falling hotbox shoved me away. Much to my amazement, I hit the wall and, from the recoil of slamming straight into the wall, bounced back and landed directly on the eye on his back, instantly killing him.
Twinmold was improved. But Odolwa was ruined, Gyorg is too RNG based and Goht's pacing was killed by making you shoot an eye. Sure, you couldn't just stand in the corner and arrow him. But only boring people and speedrunners use that method.
even Goht was improved by this mechanic, though. it forced us to play that fight the way you're actually supposed to, instead of just hiding around the corner and shooting which takes away the entire fun of the battle. you can make an argument that on Odolwa it forced us to be more clever with the fight than "hit with sword enough times and he dies, yay."
tdarkhorse4 Yes, more "clever" by burrowing into the obviously placed Deku flowers, popping out and dropping deku nuts on him while he just stands there because they removed most of his attacks. Then, hit the eye. Rinse and repeat. Certainly more "clever."
GameAddict51 so just slash with the sword repeatedly for 30 seconds isn't dumb to you? literally all you had to do on the N64 was slash him with the sword and then he died. but no, you're right, having attacks removed in exchange for even a slightly more dynamic battlefield that forces you to utilize the skills you learned and mastered in the dungeon is definitely worse than "duh, i hit him with sword. i wonder what i do next?"
They made majora's mask in eighteen freakin' months on a bet! Or less, I'm not quite sure. In gaming terms that's like a week. And it's by far the best zelda so far!
I think Majora's Mask's bosses were unique and some of the best in the series Odolwa: A colorful chanting giant jungle warrior Goht: A mechanical monster who shoots lightning at you as you chase after him Gyorg: A monster fish who wants to eat you Twinmold: Well ok, not mind blowing but it was huge and it was unique being giant link to kick their asses
I love the art style for the bosses in this game, This is to me the best Zelda game ever for its dark atmosphere and such a original story. And great boss battles which were obscure as well, I mean Twinmold was classic
+William Porter Gyorg wasn't that hard on 3DS, it's just you had to wait forever while fighting off random demon-ass fish spawns or wait for him to come up above the water. like 85% of that battle is waiting for him to be ready to make himself vulnerable enough that you can do something other than run or slash at fish.
I found them completely equal in the sense they both have engaging points. Majoras Mask was rather short, but the time system always challenged me as i never felt the need to slow the clock and i was always happy to be able to fight the bosses over and over.
@Ricinator0 funny thing is that the first time i beat the bull (as a kid) I found a very easy way to kill him. you just have to stay in the entrance and shoot him fire arrows when he passes by. When out of mana, simply break a jar for 100% magic jar drops.

I mean, Odolwa DOES have a version of the Hurricane Spin, and Link DOES defeat Odolwa with the Spin Attack in the manga, but what prompted the change in my head?

@Ricinator0 Best part is that when I was a kid, I barely understood english (mother language = french) so I always though it was THE way to kill him until I recently re-played it on a rom in the past year.
I was playing Minecraft in the nether and suddenly I got into a tough situation with 2 hearts left and this music started playing in my head as I battled my way out. True Story. ._.

@OhHaiYT Except, those two worms are an utter nightmare if you run out of magic with no Chateau keeping you going. I did a 3 Heart Challenge with no upgrades to anything and no FDM in the final battle. NOT FUN. Every arrow counted in that fight. XD
Well, if you didn't have problems with him then awesome, I'm glad you had a fun time with the boss. But I on the other hand didn't have that good of a time fighting Gyorg the fish.
I replayed this for nostalgia and Realized gyorg isn't nearly as hard as he used to be. Then again I abuse the mechanics. When you are waiting for the chance to strike, you sit in the middle shielding as deku link. Cant get hit, and if you hit water no problems. Then you arrow Gyorg, go zora, drop down, boomerang and then take off the mask while holding away from gyorg (turning you) and then put it back on swim up a bit then take it off before you surface near the platform. Rinse, lather, repeat

Actually, I didn't mind them using the same music, it's kind of symbolic, letting you know a boss is coming. Also, the song is just pure awesome.
I suddenly feel like Z-Targeting something and dancing around it. I LOVE THIS SONG.
music is ingrained into my head from constantly doing it for some quests I wouldn't have enough time for in one cycle
Although I didn't get a chance to play the legend of Zelda Majora's mask 3DS, the music is some of the best. In fact, I love this one with the boss.
If anyone here has played Arkham Origins, every assassin fight I play this theme, it gets me in the mood of the fight :D
I like this comment and your icon. we should be friends
Maybe someone will mod the game so it adds this boss theme instead.
this is the best boss theme from all zelda games in my opinion
I don't know why, but whenever I'm watching a live stream of a powerful tornado bearing down on a city, this music pops into my head.

I had to have 2 fairies!

Amen. Goht was a great boss. By far one of my favorite boss encounters of all time.
Am I the only one that likes what they did with the twinmolde boss in the 3DS remake?
I found them completely equal in the sense they both have engaging points. Majoras Mask was rather short, but the time system always challenged me as i never felt the need to slow the clock and i was always happy to be able to fight the bosses over and over.
Link goron: I'll take care of the percussion
Link Zora: I take care of every string instrument sound.
Link Deku: I take care of the wind instruments.
There weren't that many bosses in this game, but they were probably some of the most memorable.
I loved hearing this when putting on the Giant's Mask. The song and Link's pose screamed, "POWER UP!"
I like how every boss in Majora's Mask was creepy and terrifying. And most importantly, a true threat.
Sona: Wow, I've never heard music like these three guys before, and when the four of us are part of the black koopa, I'll lead them in music.
