eteranean I tried Link's awakening on the computer. It took me at least a dozen tries to beat the centipede boss, and I couldn't even beat the genie boss. However, I still thought it was a pretty cool game with the Mario crossovers and just the general design (especially the music). Still, it was a very tough and confusing game to me, just like Ecco the Dolphin, which is also impossible to make any progress in.
+Westin Kahn Why does everyone hate the trains? What more could anybody want than to drive a train and blow the whistle? Anyway, I love how the game just kept getting better and better. Immediately, the player sees an ancient Niko from the previous game and notices that the rolling function was fixed (rolling was next to impossible in Phantom Hourglass). Then, the player gets to master driving a train with amazing scenery before him and awesome music to accompany him. Then, there's villains who command a giant demon-possessed train of death and who defeat a master swordsman, knock link unconscious with the flick of a wrist, and suspend 200-ton pieces of tower in the air as if they are weightless. Then, you get the best and most useful companion in the entire series. Then, you finally get to have your revenge on the phantoms once and for all! "REMEMBER ME, PHANTOM?! YOU ARE POWERLESS AGAINST ME, YOU FIEND! AHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Then, you get to play duets with the panpipes (I always liked the sound of them). Then, you find Linebeck the Third. Then, you get your revenge on Byrne, go through the most confusing moments of the game and complete a frustrating Pacman game with instakill trains; but it is all worth it when you destroy the Demon Train (my favorite boss battle, which I sadly cannot replay because I saved after I beat him). Then, you reach an even more frustrating part of the game as you try to figure out where to tap on you horribly out-of-sync touch screen as you try to move Zelda forward on the train and eventually try to guess where to tap to fire an arrow that already requires precision to work. After that nightmare is over, you have to trust that your spin attack will work, or you will use 2 purple potions, die, and restart the Cole segment. Finally, after 20 tries, you succeed in killing the first stage of the Malladus boss and get to play the main theme of the game on the panpipes. What a sweet and emotional moment of victory. Then, Malladus goes livid with rage, and you must defeat him with the power of light, channeled through epic music. Then, you destroy a crystal on his head (why not go for the eyes?) and his time is up. It was the most satisfying and fulfilling series and boss battles that I have ever beaten.
I was actually really excited to see trains in Skyward Sword in the Lanayru area, but they weren't the same, they were ancient, I hope they're used again at least here and there in Breath of the Wild.

Gabriel Kelly The exploration in Windwaker was moreless just the same few islands with little reward for finding them and the enemies don't attack if you just continue sailing and I have only run into the Squid once on any of my plays of the game. The pirates, Snowmen, and demon trains in Spirit Tracks can actually damage you even if you keep moving.
This game was great. so was twilight princess. so was the original. I don't care about the ratings, if i have fun it's a good game. I didn't like the camera walking around, and kinda wish I could've gotten off at any time, but otherwise GREAT game. good use of the mic too.
I think it literally is, you whack ganon and bury him under the entire ocean in wind waker. Approximately 5 minutes after that tetra/zelda gets kidnapped by the ghost ship in phantom hourglass, and the villain behind it is NOT gannon because he's superdead, and so you superkill the new villan, then the sea level lowers by like... a lot, and train tracks are build because boats suck now, and some many years later a new link is born who looks exactly like the last one, and there is a new princess named zelda who looks exactly like the last one (minus the tetra) and her freakin soul is separated from her still alive body for ANOTHER NEW demon king guy to posess, and this is the theme that plays when a toon link obliterates (for good) the third demon king in a row.
I never considered how it really IS the end of a timeline, because Hyrule is in an industrial revolution now. They have trains and electricity... it seems to represent they've finally made it... ok... now I really want a modern-tech Zelda game...
I totally agree! When I try to talk to a person at my school about a zelda game they usually talk about minecraft. I think they haven't heard of a classic title.
Trevor Siple I replay it every once in a while. Some moments are embarrassing, but DS games are not meant to be played in public anyway. The trains and the amazing soundtrack and the closeness to Zelda and the act of getting your revenge on the phantoms from the previous game all keep me coming back. I just love all of the concepts that the game designers used in this game. Plus, you get to play the pan pipes, which are almost as cool as the accordion.
Every time I get to this part, I breathe a big sigh of relief knowing that I got past the part where I had to protect Zelda while she was charging and the part where I had to do that duet. The hard parts for short. This music pretty much tells you "You got past the hard parts and now, Malladus is almost defeated. From here on out, it's nothing but smooth sailing." During this part, I'm always like "Come on! Over here you big ugly bastard! Come and get me!"
haven't heard this in over 10 years... Spirit Tracks really was something else, and I'm ashamed that I keep forgetting this game when thinking of my favourite Zelda games. I've sunk so much time into this game as a kid, maybe the most of all Zelda games.
I love this ost for it thematic push. It knows its a game about trains and almost always has a driving undertone or bass line followed by high speed wind parts making it feel more like you're in on a the ride with the wind in your hair. Music like this really makes or breaks some games and the fact LOZ:ST COMMITED until the very end was so beautiful. The only other zelda game to really capture my attention like this was Twilight Princess and OOT/MM. I love when a game takes its identity seriously and makes you more invested.
This was my first Zelda game. I first played it around the time of release, give or take a year or so; I was around 6 or 7. I've been playing this game on/off for the past 14 years, tho I've never actually beaten it. Today tho (Jan 28, 2023), mere weeks after turning 21, I finally did. I have my problems with the end game, particularly the final Tower of Spirits sequence and most of the Dark Realm stuff, and I was dreading that final duet. However, when I actually got to this fight, all those frustrations melted away. This may seem silly, but finally beating this game feels almost like a rite of passage to enter adulthood for me, like I'm truly saying goodbye to my childhood. Completing Zelda's duet (surprisingly withoit much issue) and slaying Malladus, hearing this beautiful track for the first time as I've intentionally avoided it at all costs for the past decade and a half, it all feels kinda unreal This game introduced me to my favorite media franchise, it was always there for me, I'd even say it shaped me into the person I am today. Beating it after so long, it feels really great, as if I'm thanking it for everything
EPICNESS! This song is amazing. The spirit flute song is calming, but only Koji Kondo can make it epic. Koji Kondo is my favorite composer. He does almost all nintendo songs. LONG LIVE LINK, NINTENDO, AND ALL THE REST!
God the sounds of this game break me, brings me to a happier time I’ll never get back. I salute whoever did the ost for this game, it shatters my composure like a 12-gage to the roof of my mouth.
Spirit tracks really is something special, I understand (some of) the criticisms of the game but damn was it a uniquely beautiful and endearing adventure. The transition form the lokomo medley into the malladus theme is without a doubt my favorite moment of any video game OST, cant really put into words the emotions it made me feel
Praying for a Spirit Tracks remake one day. I absolutely loved this game when I was a kid because it was the only (canon) game with Zelda as a protagonist.
This was my first Zelda game and I loved it! They need to go back to how Phantom Hour Glass and Sprit Tracks were played! They were the best in my opinion!
***** I liked Malladus. Although his final fight was a bit easy he was a good final boss. Still I wished we had a Cole battle! Byrne's battle was nice and fun and the idea of a Phantom helping was great! But Malladus had more potential. Like maybe instead of zelda getting her body back she could still be in a Phantom and Help you fight for the first half!
They are not the best Zelda games, but they are definitely not as bad as some people say they are. An dal so Spirit Tracks is way better than Phantom Hourglass.
I just beat this game for the first time about 10 minutes ago. Absolutely loved it, this song was epic, and I think the entire finale was the best in any Zelda game I've played.
this is my favourite song from spirit tracks well all of the zelda games, and plus spirit tracks in my opinion had the best music out of any zelda games
I love how upbeat this song is for a final battle song. It fits the tone of the perfect game, and it shows how the tides are turning, especially compared to the dissonant/creepy stuff you hear in the first two phases. It really makes you feel like 'HELL YES WE CAN DO IT'. Come to think of it, the Metal Slug games are similar like that. It's up there with Wind Waker, LTTP and Majora's Mask with a memorable final boss tune.
To those who say that this boss looks easy believe me when I say that if you play it for yourself it is not. I had a full supply of Heart Containers and even then I ended up using one of my potions. Easily one of the hardest bosses in the game. This game seems to be the opposite of Phantom Hourglass. While Phantom Hourglass was very easy this game was tough. There are even enemies on the overworld sections that can oneshot you if they ram into you and explode.
Once you get the patterns memorised though, it's pretty easy. Only consistently annoying part is the deflection of the fireballs (which you need to be on point for all the time).
No, Phantom Hourglass was harder ... you couldn't roll half the time, you had to spend an hour trying to get past part of the Temple of the Ocean King because you didn't realise that there was an invisible bridge, you get a game over when you are not by a Phantom. I'd say the hardest boss in Spirit Tracks was Byrne because if you were like me you were slashing at him the whole time and not letting him grapple Zelda (even though you were actually supposed to). If he exposed his back, it was only because I forgot to move Zelda. I didn't realize that you use her as a shield.
+John Salame But they give you the solution to that invisible bridge because one of the Fallen Adventurers tells you about it. He says that he should have noticed that one of the Phantoms was walking on thin air or something like that. I then traced a line over the section where the Phantom walked over indicating the invisible bridge. The Temple of The Ocean King is overrated in difficulty. It's an easy dungeon. Especially on later visits when you get better equipment that can make you sequence break earlier sections like crazy. Here the puzzle solutions were a lot more cryptic. The final dungeon you have to go through to get the Compass of Light is a nightmare to figure out and that's something this game likes to do a lot as well forcing you to use the game's mechanics in ways you would never think possible and that's part of the charm of Spirit Tracks. It makes you think outside the box. Like here is one of the clever ones. To get to the Sand Temple you need help from the Sand Realm Guardian but his sanctuary is hidden so how do you find it. Well the outside of the sanctuary is a miniature version of the Sand Realm's main map with Gossip Stones representing the giant statues around the tracks and the stone paths being the tracks themselves. As such you have to compare the two maps with one another in addition to the gazes of the statues where they cross then blow open the entrance with a bomb on that spot. Genius.
Jmario232 In my defense, phantom is a synonym of ghost, and ghosts can walk on air ... but the last temple in Spirit Tracks was hard for one reason only: I didn't know that torch phantoms could walk in lava.
This is one of my favorite songs ever. I love how it includes Link and Zelda's song and the theme that plays when you ride the train. :D Of course, the flute playing in the background is a nice touch too! The battle was kind of hard for me, but this song makes me feel like even though so much depends on this battle, you will win.
Shigari Someone might need to take a look at the timeline again. If we're speaking strictly, Phantom Hourglass was a direct sequel to Wind Waker, same Link and everything. Also, Spirit Tracks takes place some 80 years(?) after Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass. Just as Wind Waker is an indirect sequel to Ocarina of Time.
The DS games were so damn good it’s sad nobody talks about them at all, toon link had great games, I could still pick them up and play them and have fun
5 year old looks at thomas the tank and says thomas we did it we got trains in zelda now to custamize percy into link yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa trains
Playing the flute in 3DS was the real final boss that we never knew and we were fighting the final boss all this time. (This goes only for 3DS players) in my case my DS stopped working and there was no more ds in the shop so i bought the 3ds and THE FLUTE IS LIKE HELL
TWO BEST L.O.Z GAMES ARE PHANTOM HOURGLASS AND SPIRIT TRACKS SIMPLY BECAUSE OF THE MUSIC AND THE EMOTION, THESE GAMES HIT ME HARD AND I ADORE THEM.... :)
But the Tower of Spirits and Temple of the Ocean King completely ruined them. If it wasn't for those two shitty segments, the games would've been SOOO GOOD! But those things drop it down to Skyward Sword and Zelda II. Which are both good games, but still. Not Wind Waker.
James Cretchley - Well. Kind of. It wasn't the same EXACT puzzles, like on the Temple of the Ocean King. That was THE WOOOOOORST! But it still didn't feel new. Same type of puzzles. Same environment and aesthetics. Nothing felt new. The only thing that made the floors distinguishable from one another was the different kinds of spirits. Aside from that, it was basically just one boring over-sized dungeon.
TJOEL20 I think Tower if Spirits was fine. Temple of the Ocean king however was just bleh! I literally had to drop the game and force myself to finish it. It’s a real shame too, because I still consider the game really solid.
I still remember every moment of this game [edit]- , from the first to the most resent. I finally beat the final floor or the tower of spirits and got the compass of light, I aslo got the full gold train, the train I wanted to get before the end ever since I was little(r)
You need to try the others, Spirit Tracks had gimmicky controls, but the strong part of the game was the music. The music is so beautiful it could make an elephant break out in a -nervous disorder-, I mean dance. Sorry, my Fire Nation education is really getting to me. #footloose
***** I HAVE tried the others. Namely, The Legend of Zelda (1987), A Link to The Past (1991), Ocarina of Time (1998), The Wind Waker (2002), Twilight Princess (2006), Link's Crossbow Training (2007), Skyward Sword (2011), and The Phantom Hourglass (2007). I'm just saying that Spirit Tracks was what introduced me to Zelda :)
+Waluigi maybe not anymore, but as a kid, it took me a long time to get trough the water temple, and the 3rd spirit tower floor and of course, Faaz, master of icy fire, that was hard
I commented extensively on the topic of how underrated sprit tracks is on another video, but every RUclipsr or gamer in general who likes Zelda should at least give spirit tracks a try. Honestly this game ( in my opinion ) is one of the best of Zelda. People shouldn't automatically turn it down because of the train travel! Windwaker is massively loved, and the idea of boat travel is barely any different then train travel. Traveling via train is FUN. People should give this game a try, and this song signifies how game this really is. ( this song is one of my favorite songs in any video game ).
+Pk Will I actually enjoyed the puzzles and such (although it did take me two years to beat the game...I'll get into that in a moment) and I loved the games; the music was amazing, and sometimes a puzzle did stop my progress a little bit for me, but what really got to me was the 3 key doors on that final bit of the Tower of Spirits. I didn't know which door to do, and because, at the time, I didn't want to look it up, so I was stuck there, and I actually reset once or twice because I used a key and thought I was stuck since I wouldn't have thought that you could still get the other two keys before the 3 key doors. And all I had to do was get a Warp Phantom to warp into that sandy area with the Warp Panel Shape thing. Stupid past me. And, while I also wasn't fond of the bits where you had to play the Spirit Flute, I still love the game (including PH, which has my favourite character AND dungeon in it) simply due to how the game goes and the music and such.
Maybe they should make a new zelda game where they show how the tetra and Link from Wind Waker found the hyrule of Spirit tracks. thus bridging the gap.
I really don't think we need 3 sailing games ... what about a game with this premise: Linebeck finds a trading island that uses hot air balloons. He comes across an uninhabited place with a lone tower: the Tower of Spirits. He thinks whoever is living here alone must be stinking rich, but he runs into danger and asks Tetra's crew to help him secure the area, which is troubled by Malladus and his henchmen. They go by blimp or hot air balloon and secure the Spirit's sanctuaries which are floating in the air. It seems pretty much like Phantom Hourglass in its traveling, but now you get a beautiful -- and ominous -- sky view. Everything is uncharted, so it is up to you to find secret cloud islands and gather information as to where the sanctuaries are. Once the evil is weakened and defeated, the Spirits bind Malladus with the Spirit Tracks and promise the heroes that they can stay under the protection of the Spirits (and stay for the protection of the Spirits in Spirit Tracks).
I just absolutely adore this song... they bring back so many other themes from the game and they all work in harmony to create a very emotional piece of music. All backed up by that cello/bass ostinato that sounds like a train chugging along. It's genius.
Playing the flute before this fight was the real final boss.

If you're wearing headphones while listening to this, please be sure both sides are working lol
The intro is simply majesty, I get goosebumps, Amazing
I was an adult when I started playing this game, but this song just gives me those nostalgias about my childhood.
zfg told me to listen to this
The fire ball deflection before this was such a pain but I love this game anyway
when this music came on i was like "OMG you are going down"
If I find a more underrated song, imma wake up because that’s not going to happen
This theme HAS to be in the new SSB level, it just HAS TO!!!
Completing Zelda's duet (surprisingly withoit much issue) and slaying Malladus, hearing this beautiful track for the first time as I've intentionally avoided it at all costs for the past decade and a half, it all feels kinda unreal
This game introduced me to my favorite media franchise, it was always there for me, I'd even say it shaped me into the person I am today.
This gives me chills. The music sounds quality matches twilight Princess
1:19 thats all i need to say
***** Sadly, Zoras don't appear
Yes she is indeed from Fairy Tail
She Meredy from Grimoire Heart! She my favouirte character!
i am praying for the day when this game gets remastered with wind waker hd's engine and reorchestration
God, I want so bad a remake of both phantom hourglass and spirit trackss for the switch
Or at least a re-release in switch online
Sabes que el jefe va a ser epico si tiene la canción del tren incluído
THIS is the best zelda’s boss theme EVER
No... THE BEST THEME
agreed
This is the last battle. Let's make it count!
The opening is so unbelievably incredible...!
They somehow managed to put in aspects from each [primally shown] song in the game
I love how they used some of Realm Overworld and Troubled Realm in this ^^.
I'm sorry but THIS is defenitely the BEST Zelda Ost
I love how upbeat this song is for a final battle song. It fits the tone of the perfect game, and it shows how the tides are turning, especially compared to the dissonant/creepy stuff you hear in the first two phases. It really makes you feel like 'HELL YES WE CAN DO IT'. Come to think of it, the Metal Slug games are similar like that.
It's up there with Wind Waker, LTTP and Majora's Mask with a memorable final boss tune.
Zelda spirit of tracks should get ported to Nintendo Switch has a remake port they just make 3D it would be more fun 😃 for the hole game
I feel your pain.
...I feel your pain all too well.
Strong imposing intro, heroic feel, and the Spirit Train theme on the Wind Flute. Best way to close the game to such a well made 3-part boss!
Love how all the main characters exclusive to spirit tracks have a connection to trains, like Malladus - Mallard
Beautiful and epic theme, I love it! 😈💙🚂🚃💚
The progressive breakdown at 0:57 is my favorite part of this song 🎻
this is my favourite boss theme ever, it was so cool fighting malladus with this in the background
This is one of my favorite songs ever. I love how it includes Link and Zelda's song and the theme that plays when you ride the train. :D
Of course, the flute playing in the background is a nice touch too!
The battle was kind of hard for me, but this song makes me feel like even though so much depends on this battle, you will win.
One of the best if not the best songs in the game. I love the flute song you play while Zelda sings it’s spectacular too! Such an awesome game!
i really want a sequel to this game!!!!!!!!!!!
because the zelda is really attaching on me
***** What sequel ? They are games with no sequels ! if you talk about the young link, well, there is more than three games.
Josh Estrada TAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANKS
Josh Estrada I always thought if another Zelda based on PH or ST were to be made it would involve planes/airships
IronManx70 Steampunk Zelda? YES PLEASE!!
Spirit Tracks is one of the best zelda games, mainly for its originality.
One of my favorite Zelda games.... It just has such a good feel
Best final boss theme in all of the Zelda games right here! Maybe even best in ANY video game PERIOD!
How sweet would it be if an orchestrated version of this existed.
This is easily the most underrated zelda game of all time
i just beat this game an hour ago, and i'd have to say its one of my favorite zelda games
One of the most underrated DS games of all time
when I finish the game I will be so pumped
The DS games were so damn good it’s sad nobody talks about them at all, toon link had great games, I could still pick them up and play them and have fun
*looks at title* just another zelda game. *looks at trailer* OH MY GOD IT HAS TRAINS
I like trains
Kacey Nicholas Dula *gets hit by train* OOF
Trains are...
+TJOEL20 Tower of spirits was new each visit at the very least.
My first Zelda game :)
Malte Nick I think that once the 3DS version drops, I'm gonna play that.
It was my first Zelda game too!
TuesdayTriforce Me too
honestly best zelda final boss. many phases with great soundtrack and actually kinda challenging
This is amazing, it has a bunch of themes all mixed into 1.
everyone Evan game theory and screw attack that thinks this game is bad because the trains they all have not played the game I bet
Game theory said this was the weakest Link. I say he's in the top 4 strongest. And kid Link is definitely not the strongest.
Yeah it just sounded like he was saying that this game is a joke it never will be a joke
+Pk Will
I actually enjoyed the puzzles and such (although it did take me two years to beat the game...I'll get into that in a moment) and I loved the games; the music was amazing, and sometimes a puzzle did stop my progress a little bit for me, but what really got to me was the 3 key doors on that final bit of the Tower of Spirits.
I'll never be able to forget this song. Sweet.
It's genius.
thank you for uploading
ありがとう!!
Link and Zelda working together to defeat the antagonist of the game will always be epic.
Koji Kondo composed this? He rarely compososes music for nintendo "Handhelds" as he most of the time focuses mostly on the T.V console systems.
I've never played Spirit Tracks, but this song is a certified banger and deserves to be in Smash.
Yup it's done it again. I got goosebumps
My all time favourite final boss theme from my favourite zelda game
