This game broke me, waiting fucking hours upon hours for the right pinata to finally wonder in and completely ignore it's required food drove we insane.
Especially when they just attack the fuck out of your pinatas for no reason. Like thanks for killing 17 Pinatas, eating 95% of the stuff you need and just peacing out at the last second. Never really wanted to be happy anyways.
Also fuck the Dragonache, I remember growing up I put the egg down in the wrong spot and I got the dumb looking brown one instead of the water one and I still haven't coped with it to this day.

This awoke a really visceral childhood memory in me. I used to spend hours scouting my garden of just dirt, and it was filled with Tafflies. I would spend those hours smacking to death any Lickatoads unfortunate enough to get onto my empire of soil, and anytime a different kind of pinata was tamed, I would sacrifice their candy. For my Tafflies. Never been so confused by a memory before, thank you

I recently got back into this game's sequel, but this one looks so much more relaxing than it even though you were actively plotting out an inevitable wasteland. Really enjoyed the commentary in this, love your humor /gen.
Trouble in Paradise is such a good game, there aren't a whole lot of games that have come out since that have captured that "Tame creatures and make them all a nice, potentially even a e s t h e t i c home" feel and it's such a shame

i have a bad experience with this game
i once had a very big garden
i was called away for dinner and handed the controller to my dad
because i was on the lookout for red pinatas i told him if any showed up hit them with the shovel
when i was done eating and went to return to my garden i discovered my dad went and hit and killed every single pinata i had in the garden
my game was ruined
and i haven't played it since
over a week of work gone in less then ten minutes
and he was like well you can just load the save
no the game autosaves you killed them all
it doesn't let you do that.
apparently i was unclear about the red pinata's or something
because he thought oh pinata's break all pinata's gotcha

Yes rare made some low quality games after being bought by Microsoft but this game is a true cult classic and I'd love to see it brought to the new generation (especially if we could get it on the switch it would feel so at home there)

When I was younger I had lots of gardens for different play styles like getting awards, making money, solely gardening. I had one called Alabama because it was used to get severely inbred wildcard variants. I understood how genetics work and I purposefully bred mothers and sons. I even kept record of them with family trees XD XD XD I made so much money

I had this game on the xbox live arcade demo disk. I played it for long amounts of time, but it would just freeze randomly and i'd have to comepletely restart. There may have been a demo timer I wasn't aware of.
I miss this game. I remember playing it on my uncle's Xbox but I believe he got rid of the game. I wish I could play it again but it just feels nice knowing this game hasn't been completely forgotten...
