If one listens to the lyrics what BTS were trying to convey, the aggression makes perfect sense! Fighting against all the oppression! All the pressure society as well as one’s own parents put on adolescence, youth, to deny their own hopes & dreams, and to do what was expected. It was pretty much one of 5he first times somebody spoke up for the disenfranchised, who had no voice, giving hope & desire to go on, and to follow one’s owns dreams. The lyrics in BTS songs was one of the reasons that army became such diehard fans of BTS! The choreography went with the lyrics of their songs, most of which had the same sentiments. S. Korea then and now is known to have the biggest suicide rate in its youth for these vary reasons dealing with so much pressure. 😔
Save Me has a behind the scenes Shooting Sketch. I know Bangtan Subs translated it from a regular BTS episode on RUclips. Those don’t usually have subs with them. It’s extremely interesting how Save Me was shot.
I think especially with N.O when they are rebelling against authority, they needed to look aggressive... JK cringes these days when he watches some of these older /original tracks... he laughs that he only had a couple of ' arm moves' back then hahahaha....Where it began ...well.. they went through a ton of grief.....A lot changed when the original hip hop decision was altered for a more down to Earth and normal 'youth' look... so obviously their dance styles and mannerisms/expressions had to change with it... One thing that hasn't changed is their work ethic... they're just as dedicated to their craft today as they always have been...
I think a number of factors played into them going hard (not aggressive) at the start of their careers. They really felt they were representing and speaking up for the youth and their peers and they took that seriously. They knew they were from a small agency with not much money so gave 110% every time, even in practices. And they did 12-16 hours practice a day. That could be why they were not laughing and playing around too much. I think they were hoping for a few hours off if they perfected everything!! This all gave BTS such a great foundation but I would say even now, when it comes to practicing the take it seriously.💜
I gather that the early aggressive rap, song, & dance was related to BTS being promoted early on as a hip hop/ rap group, rather than a k-pop group. With their success at offering more love-oriented songs like ‘Boy in Luv’, in 2014, they began to be considered a k-pop group with both vocalists & rappers. Maybe someone should ask them, and Bang PD, for more detail.💜
Their debut era music was.like rebel against system. NO is abt that....plus they were very young and also were struggling to get their place in harsh big3 led k-pop world. It was surely too hard for them. Lot of insults and less expectations from group from small label..was pushing their nerves to do at extreme level. If u see some of their contents which they shot after some.years regarding reaction to their old mvs or performances, they talked abt it that. We relate to this Bangtan more.....
I've been wondering when you'll be continuing your album reactions, and there you are addressing it right at the beginning. Look forward to them! In regards to the dance practices, especially N.O... I didn't appreciate it as much then, but wow, for the members considered as the "least capable" of dancing, Seokjin and Namjoon are really holding their own. They're so good.
To expand further on what others’ said about the lyrics, which you know- the group was formed around RM and his ability to help the group express what they and people of their generation were going through. Originally, concepts were based most closely around what the members most into the creative process wanted to say, including Suga and then J-Hope. If you look at RM and Suga’s pre-debut and 1st mixtapes, it’s not a surprise that these were the kinds of concepts they started with. They differentiated themselves from other groups as this particular kind of hip hop group. Once they did these concepts, they expanded their range to show what else they could do, work to the other members’ strengths, and explore what was hitting hardest with K-Pop fans and the general public.
7:11 yeah at the time it really was a life/death situation + the song is about saying NO to the school system and challenging institutions ! So yeah they were "angry" and agressive haha I wasn't around during that time but makes me feel some sort of nostalgia and love to see from how far they've come🥲
It was due to the the lyrics of the songs, they were very critical of certain things that kids where going through with their oppressive school system the pressure put on kids to get top grades to reach SKY which stands for the 3 top South Korean Universities.
Morning from Scotland 🏴 Life your reactions and love for BTS. ‘Advanced cha cha slide’ 😂 I choked on my cornflakes 😂 love Yoongi in this video, it always looks like it’s his favourite choreo. 💜🫶
thanks for the reaction pat! about them going hard and the lack of smiles for N.O it's exactly because of what you said, the song talks about injustice so them smiling would make no sense. The anger and frustration of young people going against the system and fighting for their dreams was what it was needed for the song and the theme. Dope, on the other hand, it has a different theme, so their cheeky smiles contribute a lot with the lyrical aspects of the song. As for them debuting with this kind of "concept" or "energy", I think it can be atributed to their mision statement, since their debut which was "to block out streteotypes, criticism and expectations that are aimed at adolescents like bullets..." They decided to go for the raw side of things and decided to talk about what young people, like them, suffered in their daily lifes, while also making a statement on the many injustices and hardships they had to deal with to be able to get a glance of spotlight since they came from a very small company in an era in which the media and entertainment was purely controled by the big ones. Ps. thanks again for the reaction! Can't wait for you to hear more of their b-sides!
First!! 🎉❤ Their dancing is amazing!! Love your bts Reaction Videos ❤😂🎉 I think they were agrassive because of all the haters! They wanted to show them, that they don't care and that they are bulletproof 👊
They were trying to get their message across to appeal to young people. Also they wanted to succeed so much. Once they succeeded they could relax a little. Even the way they introduced themselves was strong.
The group’s focus started out as rap focused with RM as lead they were trying to be hard. 😮. The focus later changed as the boys started writing more and more about social and emotional issues.
i think they were desprate and energetic rather than agressive but i understand what you mean i recommand you react to japanese songs of bts they are amazing especially live performances are a must and don't worry most of them are fine when comes to copyright so hope you get to them really soon love your reactions💜💜💜
Because of how they started(a rough start and much struggle) they were HUNGRY andready to do whtever it took to get noticed. And they were first meant to be a hip hop group

I think this is due to teenage hypersexuality, because the center of anger and the center of sex in men are in the same area of the brain. The emotional-volitional sphere is formed after adolescence, that is, we learn to control ourselves after 20 years, although some people cannot learn this throughout their lives. So, Jungkook, as the youngest, took a long time to achieve emotional stability. In addition, at the very beginning, the management reproached Jungkook for being emotionless and inexpressive in his speech. So he tries.
BTS weren't an idol group at that time. They were trying to be more intimidating and rebelling against society's injustices. "NO" is about not being a slave to the system. They were speaking out for youth from debut and always have. Great reaction. I love your little smiles for them (especially Jimin and Suga) You get them. Thank you.
So.....they learned that aggression was necessary to compete with other groups. Check out Sugas Suchwita with IU, he speaks to that a bit. Plus they were dealing a lot of hate at the time and accusations. Were still criticized by the underground rappers that they were girls for wearing make up. On a lighter note....it's the socks that scream I'm not as bad as I look!!!!🙃
Hi, I am back. Good reaction, ty. Pat they were monsters. Come on. They had to compete hard to survive. Thus aggressive and passionate. Plus they were a hip hop group. That they are talented and deserve to be here. I love this song! It's so bloody good! The MV is so cool too. =0) Great choreo too.
