My opinion is that the Dake is by far the Best Study Bible by far. No Study Bible with notes is % 100 right, nor will anyone agree %100 with. But I’ve got to say I agree with Dake on most of He’s stuff. All of it? No. But way more so than not. He does a great job backing up what he says. Thanks for the video!

@Todd Griffin... I like Dakes as well for the simple reason of all the study notes... but do you believe in the Gap Theory?.. cuz that is what he tries to expound.. that the age we are in now is the one after the Prehistoric age of dinosaurs...and you are correct in not agreeing with Dakes notes or any study bible's notes 100%... as long as one is careful.. they should be ok using it....

The Dake cross-reference system is the most exhaustive of any study Bible. As for his notes; chew the meat and spit out the bones. I don’t pay too much attention to opinion. I prefer solid exegesis of the Biblical text.
Thank you for the review sir.

I have had this bible for years. I use it for the definitions, history and lists. If you are studying I would imagine one would use more references to establish fact. I find no fault in it as a tool. They ( whoever they are) say there are thousands of mistakes in his work. But I notice that they/no one, has bothered to do a definitive work to let us know what they are. Good review.

@Ellen Krause... I like Dakes.. I also like the Ruckman study bible... Ruckman is way more opinionated and crass than Dakes.. at least Dakes is Not too offensive... I recently picked up a 1979.. copyrighted one.. with the original racial comments in it... just to contrast it to the post 1998.. ones..as long as one can read thru the older version and Not be offended by it .. it's a fair bible.... a group of pastors got together... I believe... in the 90's and were able to get Dakes to change some comments...do you believe in the Gap theory?... many do.... I don't... I also do Not believe in Lilith....

Thanks for the video. I think of Dake's Annotated Bible as the Best of Study Bibles and the Worst of Study Bibles at the same time. Obviously, Finis J. Dake spent lots of time in Bible Study. There are tons of sermon outlines that most people could use. It is Dake's Commentary that gets him into trouble.
I've never looked into the newer 3 column Dake, so your videos was good to watch for that reason. I have an old 4 column Dake's. Finis Dake believed red letter Bibles de-emphasized the other pages of the scripture, so the old Dake's were Black Letter. I prefer Black Letter to Red Letter, but its not a big issue for me at all.
My favorite Reference Bible is the KJV Thompson Chain. But, after knowing about the Dake Bible for almost 40 years, I decided to buy a good used bonded leather copy this year. I don't think to colorful charts are in my Dake's.

I think we are both on the same page....... every Bonded Leather bible I have ever used however...has started to peel or crack within the first year of use... I stick to the Genuine Leather ones only now.. I am tired to taping the covers up to keep them from peeling away... .. by the way what do you think of this guy's comments regarding the name ...Finis.?.... stating its probably pronounced Phineas..?... I 've alvays pronounced it Finis.. as in the word finish.. with the short i's.. or is it Finis?.. as in Finest?.with the long I in the front?...

I appreciate this review.. but some things that were Not brought into light... for one... though you showed the supplemental booklet that came with the bible.. you did not mention that it appeared to have been folded over sloppily when packaged so that reading material seams to be akilter to the crease.. as opposed to be running perpendicular.. to it.. poor packaging.. will make me disatisfied with the purchase... what about the single ribbon marker?.. did you know that these should be an appropiate length?... this marker looks like it serves ok as a book marker.. but technically the function of the book mark should be so that one can grab the end of the visible ribbon.. and yse that to find the page marked... meaning it should clear the bottom of the corner of the bible.. so that it can be pulled up anf around the edge... this marker does not appear to be long enough to serve that function properly... als... Yes Daje was very opunionated.. to the point of being considered a racist.. by todays standards.. so much so that the versions of Dake's bibles.. from 1998 on til now have been slightly altered...the offensive comments removed... the Peter Ruckman study bible is way more biased in his comments.. with the offensive statements still in that Bible...and from what I have noticed when studying the layouts of my Dakes bib les.. is that the underlining has to do with comments.. in the study notes..

    • @jeffcarlson3269

@joseph faulkner... my thoughts were the underlined words were to point to some note regarding them on that page.. perhaps.. for example the words"here now"... these 2 words would later be found together in one of the lists on thesame page....

@Frederico Carvalho... I think a well grounded Christian should be able to sift thru the notes.. and use ONLY the accurate ones..(ones that support God's word)... Dake's bible can be an invaluable resource... due to his lists... he counts everything...EVERY... word... sin ...question.... chapter....etc...is all listed somewhere in Dake's..
also the concordance has several thousand passage references... I use Dake's.... so I do not have to whip out my 10 lb Stong's concordance on every single word I wish to look up cross passages to..
AGAIN... I would state... one needs to be careful.. with Dake's ... his theology is not always sound.. but.. the work he did.. in coordinating passages. .and helping others to find what they are looking for in God's word is invaluable..

Have no idea about this study Bible, but I do know that the Sabbath is the only commandment of the 10 commandments not brought over the the N.T.
Sure it's a good practice as a Christian, but it is not a N.T. commandment. The Sabbath was given specifically to the Jews as a SIGN, because the Jews require a sign:
Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctify them.
      Ezekiel 20:12 KJV
I am the LORD your God; walk in my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them; and hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the LORD your God.
      Ezekiel 20:19‭-‬20 KJV
Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you.
      Exodus 31:13 KJV
For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

  • @StingofTruth

I've GOT to issue a disclaimer here as a pentecostal minister. Finis dake was kicked out of the Assemblies of God and soent time in prison for transpirting a minor across state lines for the purpise of having sex. It was during this time dake wrote his books like God's plan for man which were later adapted for a study bible which is what's being reviewed in this video.
Unfortunately dake also held onto some pretty serious heresies. The very first note in the new testament of this bible says the Jesus did not become the Christ or messiah until he was baptized of John in the jordan river. It seems like a small gheresy until we realize that the old testament prophecies that God himself would be the messiah and at this point we can conclude that dake held to an antichristian heresy known as the cerenthian heresy, and that dake here teaches that Jesus not only became messiah but God the Son, the Son of God. Thus denying the Triune nature of God. Then he contradicts this teaching in ither places.
Furthermore it must be said that while dake affirmed the doctrine of the Trinity with his lips he taught against the doctrine in his theology byy saying each member of the godhead had His own Spirit, Soul, and Body. This is not trinitarianism, but rather tritheism. Tritheism is the belief in 3 gods. Trinitarianism is the belief that there is one being of God who eternally exists as three coeternal, coequal, persons.
This is just the tip of the tip of the iceberg of dake's heresies. His bible is indeed the preferred study bible of charismaniacs, and those who claim to be Pentecostal but are in fact deceived. A good example of a Pentecostal study bible is the Fire Bible, also available as the Life in the Spirit study Bible.

Unless you are doctrinally sound in your theology and know what the Bible teaches about salvation, Jews, Eschatology, Eternal Security, etc you will have difficulty with the commentary portion of this Bible, a lot of heresy concerning salvation, keeping saved, who a portion of scripture was written to and if you want to know how to wrongly divide the word of God then you have it here, , why would you want a study Bible that dosent line up with correct doctrine? If your Pentecostal/ Charismatic you will agree with most of his commentary but he says we are not completely saved until the end when we die if we make it to the end of our lives and also he gives a list of requirements for the rapture and much more that Christians have to do to remain saved till the end, let alone what he believes about the Trinity is mind blowing- stay away from this u less you can overlook the heresies and use the rest of the info , the charts in the back are good

Hard to find much good about such a Bible that is wrong about so much. At least it has good looking printing/paper.

@Kyle C... IMO... even so.. I think every Bible Library should at least have one copy of Dakes.. just to look at it once and a while.. that's what I do.. I'll pull it down look through some lists and put it back....
