Hey guys, let's try to keep the comments section somewhat clean! I've got quite a few filters on this one.
Attach a camera, try to get it to follow things. Then add a dart gun.
Perhaps Richard wasn't the best name for it.
This can be used for some really good animatronics. Like elephant trunks to give them a more lifelike movements. Also octopus like attacking a ship and having the lifelike movements can really pay off for it. Also snake type animatronics would also greatly benefit from this. Also this can be used for swaying plant life in water as well that does not have a current like an aquarium.
Grimbach Or the BEST name :-D (Then again, that was obviously the point, heh.) - But yeah, Tricky D....*coughcough* Richard there seems to "entertain" just about the same way my old cat did whenever I was trying to work or do homework :-D (Edit: I would have named it "Tentacoo" or "Glemph", haha)
This robot could bring so much joy into my "life"
*japan wants to know your location*
Brilliant
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Nice
H...Hentaaaai!
the guitar one was perfect!
half of the time it looks like it is trying to unplug itself
"KILL ME PLEASE!!!!!"
ha ha ha like pass the butter "what is my purpose?"
complex equipment made out of household materials and being funny with low production quality.
you are the very definition of mad scientist sir. i respect you
Needs a silicone cover.
Watertight... For science.
yes
skin colored, with veins
It needs to be black.
ew
give it a gun
Give it a knife, randomize the variables. Put the power button within range of it.
Elijah Vivio great idee
deja vu
Just give it to Colin Furze...
Replace the servos with pulsejets.
at 3:53. robot arm try killing itself by cutting supply cable.
Superb robot arm like Bender's.
Great presentation of the whole thing
Thanks James!
James Bruton James you should recreate a longer larger one and make an interactive tail for a robot.
A certain industry might be interested... but seriously, awesome device!!
You and Simone Giertz VERY MUCH need to work together on an "awesome" robot!
Simone is my idol. I would fanboy too much
@@GearDownForWhat All the more reason!
Giertz down for what?!?
Gear Down For What? Adam savage would love this too, its complicated like the “strandbeest”
No, their content isn't even close. Gear Down For What makes very complex, difficult to make things. Just look at this robot, look at all the moving parts and code he needed to write. Look at his rear differential video. As much as I love Simone, all she ever does is stick something on a servo and make it go up and down, or wave back and forth. The toothbrusher, the vegetable chopper, the alarm clock. Literally everything she makes is just attaching something to a servo. I highly doubt she's capable of creating anything in the same realm of what Gear Down For What does. He builds actual robots, does the math for, and creates unique gearboxes; she plays with erector sets and attached a servo on it.
Brilliant.
That looks genius! I wonder how it can actually be used in robotics with more control, power, strength, etc.... perhaps a multi-use industrial robot when made with better materials.
That is a really nice robot.
8:04 - I think this one was designed to knock stuff off your table... 🙃
That is one of the coolest robots I have ever seen...WOW!
5:11
Tenderize meat you say?
That time is the best time, if your unsure, just click on it! DO IT!!! CLICK ON IT!!!!!!!!!!
i get ya. what kind of meat u say, hmm... cat meat
RUclips is messed up. You should have been in my recommendations a long time ago. Subscribed!!!!!
Glad to have you onboard!
Just imagine the possibilities...... OMG Just add a silicone skin and done. The best erm... device ever.
I like that it kinda solves the problem i often notice with current robots: motion. Robots move "mechanic" with stutter-like manner, but this thing allows for fluid motion, as human and animals can. In some sort it resembles a muscle, i think, but in slightly different implementation, but general principle is the same.
Just to make sure that no one has indecent thoughts about your invention, you put it in your lap...
mumiemonstret while wearing a green shirt
The naming is a separate act of art!
Make it into a useless robot- put a switch near it, and when you flip the switch it turns on and flails around wildly untill it whacks the switch off again
Super cool project. Thx for sharing.
Build 8 more make them stronger and attach to the underneath of a car frame make it walk like a centipede when finished sell to NASA as cheap moon rover.
i think you made more innovation towards the adult industry than whatever you were aiming for. good job i guess !
I wonder how strong/agile this could be made and what kind of positional repeatability could be achieved.
You will get a job offer soon! Awesome work
We all know what we are thinking.
dude this is amazing
You know, with just *a tiny bit* of machine learning, Richard could do awesome things
Literally loved your robo, damn awesome robo
The Black Mirror dog was inspired almost entirely by Boston Dynamic’s work.
Yeah, my Richard entertain me to :/
5:45 great my mom walked in on this part...Iv never felt so dumb explaining something before.
Elon might be interested in this for the snake charger. They look very similar but you’re design may have some benefits in its design.
If your dog don't wag his tail, install this tail backpack to fix the problem.
It’d be cool to get it synced up with a trained neural network so that it could follow the movements of a body part
could be VERY useful for animatronics
Give that thing an eye at the end, mouth at the base of it, bam alien
Make the thing look like a bobbit worm or some giant terrifying worm
Octopus tentacle (keep it away from japan)
if you scale it up (or compress the mechanism, or further distance it), and add four more 'digits', it could be a large creepy hand
next generation animatronics :) cei was on the verge of making animatronics with free range movement and could walk around off stage, but the animatronic entertainment business died out
breakfast bit was hilarious
I appreciate your sense of humor and sharing your passion of engineering.
totally agree! because it's cool! :)
Ive see enough hentai to know where this is going to end up finding application
Especially with lubrication.
I thought of a REAL GOOD application for this invention.. What about trying to use it to make arm for armless people ?? This could save life
i've seen enough hentai to know where this is going ... literaly ...
Thats a funny falic robo richard 9000! if you made it longer it could have been more like an elephant trunk if put upside down.
Call Shitty robots! But yours isn't shitty I see a lot of potential! That thing has so much flexibility you could do a lot with it.
Yeah there's a lot of satisfaction he could get out of it
@@shinnishi3135 "..till I can get my, satisfaction."
reminds me of that video with the knife wielding tentacle
4:30, it doesn't look like that program is really meant for making breakfast.
Also next step should be to make a remote control for this thing that allows you to move all the joints in real time. Basically make a second Richard that is all sensors that detect position and it sends that to the other one so that it moves to match.
my wife would love this
My wife told me a I was fired, I said “what?” and she sent me this video.
this thing has a lot of potential, I think it would be cool to see it rear back then strike like a snake.
"Now, I know what you are thinking, and I know w..." - abrupt cut.
Yes, we all are thinking the same things and know what it looks like.
Omg this is amazing
since you got this far with the idea, I have several suggestion for its purpose
- mount a small camera on top of it, and make it a flexible security cam that can not only see 360 degree, but to look at the corner and top of a building
- since it can spin a lot, then you can make an unique 3D printer, that has a snake like Hot End
- mount a tiny grinder tool on top of it, and make...maybe the first 3D sculptor?
- make a helper arm for disabled people or people with illness so they can reach stuff while staying on their wheel chair
5:20 "s u g g e s t i v e"
thats a ... youtube buddy
thats from that youtube channel of that kid which makes robots to fuck his life up
Michael Reaves my boii
Hell ya my RUclips buddy Michael 😂
tbh i think this might make a good "novelty" toy
4 legged robot with those tentacle some AI
would be pretty interesting
project
Machine: What is my purpose?
Richard: To pass the cereal. Now pass the cereal.
Machine: Oh my god...
Before you mentioned, "suggestive," I think a lot of us realized what Richard meant. Awesome job!
Indeed.. It does look like a cucumber.
Greetings from Richard 5:20
If you can make it a little more silent, it might be a cool tail/tentacle for cosplay
Something really interesting with this robot and would not be too hard to do is to make a inverse kinematics system trained with a neural network. The hardest part of that may be getting the absolute position, but I would just screw a Vive tracker to the tip.
Hahaha is super cool.. It needs a camera and a sonar sensor... To fight cats and squirrels. Also learn the positions and reverse program it. Also you can add 3 more and be the dr octopus...
Freakin' hilarious! I laughed sooo much!
r.c. vertebrae
Could you mount a grasping mechanism on the end of it? I'm asking for a friend
Already done @ 5:21
@@mrdnice425 still doesn't got that gi joe kung fu grip i miss so much
LMAO . I peed my pants !
Erich Mais, Poor gerbil!
Don't do it man. Howard learned the hard way.
Try using elastic string
I’m Srry but girls are probably digging this 🤣🤣🤣
I mean it's name is Richard xD
Where has this been all my life
Peachyfizz 🤣🤣🤣
*shrugs* nope!
Put a sock puppet on it.
2:21 dat clap is pro 😂😂
"I know what youre thinkin...It look like..."
*Cut to Richard.*
Lol Richard
Whamen pleasuriser 3000.
AvE?
This could prolly do things that a real dong cant
genus
the mechanism of this robot is awesome , i was just wondering if you can reduce the amount of servos used , and reduce the base size, it can be used as a robotic elbow or something
by the way i know robot's have all body members except one , and you now found the solution for this :)
A similar mechanism is used in the wrist mechanism of a lot of robots
at 5:21 he shows the real purpose of this robot...
For sale on Alibaba with "silicone wand" attachments
it is cool tho
Kinda how the da Vinci robot works for medical surgeries.
Coming up: collab with Simone Giertz?
Siana Gearz Oh yeah she’ll love this ;)
Skynet is near
This is funny as hell keep it up 10/10
"Richard"; I see what you did there.
I could see this being super useful for paraplegics.
awesome
Nice work, but a protective cover would keep the components nice and safe. I'd suggest peach colored tubing.
You know what you did.
@@JamesAYT I simply suggested he provide a robust cover for his sensitive components and recommended a visually pleasing color scheme to go along with it.
Elephant Trunk
You should build scorpion out of it or based on it. now that be cool.
Would be cool to see it scaled up about 10x. :)
So how mechanically stable is this thing? How much torque can it apply before the cables slip/bend?
Can it push a rock? Or will a twig stop it?
Interesting design though.
Very interesting design!
Richard: *writhing in pain* 4:12
“Why have you created me?”
Gear down: *with intense happiness*
“Make my cereal” 4:35
Or biomedical devices
4:25 lol dead
Btw , I'd make it longer and strap it on like a backpack and use it for cosplay. Now people cosplaying anything with a tall can have an interactive tail !
It could doctored up a bit to look like the little eye monster from Small Soldiers.
The furries are evolving
I was thinking a sick Doctor Octopus cosplay.
Tech priests, roll out!
Richard's bizarre breakfast
you have the beginnings of a robotic tentacle monsters X3
though the guitar thing almost seams like a valid use-case for those who have lost a left arm.
(it just seam like a rather inefficient way to do it... and really you would want to control the action somehow... like the 3rd thumb...(a prosthesis someone made rather cool concept)
What would be really interesting is how you would translate the motor commands into xyz coordinates of the end of the arm and vice versa
Make it turn it's self off!!
