Put tape over the pvc section you wish to cut should help with the splitting nasty edges. I would also fill the bar with concrete, it will make it heavier, stronger, and will help to prevent excessive bending.
I know I'm a little late here but the article is about making a training bar for people who can't use a 45 lb barbell. This wasn't meant to hold 100's of pounds.
Hey Keven! Love the new video, you are a really good actor with great instructions as always. My suggestion for a next one would be Concrete Dumbbells!
I was curious if you could do the same thing for a 1in barbell? I love seeing DIY content especially after coronavirus pandemic and the mark up of home gym equipment
Great video! I was wondering if the steel pipe could be filled with sand to decrease the bending on heavy load, then the sides could be sealed using steel stick.
I know that with rails on chain link fences, about 1 1/2" outside diameter they fill them with concrete for more strength so it may make sense here... I'm not sure about sand though ...

Hi Keven, I've wached one of your previous videos where you explain how to make concrete weight plates and the video is amazing and very useful, thanks! I have juste one question if you could help me, where did you buy the aluminium flashing used for the molds? I really can't find it in any store (maybe it's just hard to find in my country, Belgium) ... I've found it online but way too expensive (19€/meter). It would be very nice if you could help me
@@shadowarcherz i don't have a drill. Do you think i could use 1.75" pipe and hammer it over as the stop for the weights opposed to screwing in the 2" pipe? Or even layer a 1.75" then a 2" on top?
@@jimmorrisongrip6086 From what I researched around the interwebz there's a video of a guy using a black steel pipe sch 160 and it holds ~370lb fine without deforming (it's good that it bends at least a little, otherwise it'd probably break). Now, sch 160 is quite expensive, I ended up buying a used non olympic bar which can hold 500lb easy and was like U$25. It'll be more than enough for years to come.

Damn, this looks like the perfect solution at home. I'm new to anything gym based, but aren't these barbells supposed to weight like 20 kg (around 45 pounds) without weight? No criticsim, just curious if you have a way to get it. Thanks man!
I was thinking similar. The only way I could think to do it would be to fill the bar with something of substantial density, such as maybe sand, steel shot, etc. You'd need to have a way to plug the ends so whatever you fill with doesn't leave the side and also create a tight enough seal that whatever you plug with won't shoot out when the internal pressure gets high from dropping or excessive bending of the bar. Completely spitballing here, but maybe 12 inches of wooden dowel of just barely smaller diameter than that of the inside of the steel pipe, with adhesive in multiple circles along the length of the wooden dowel. Do that to each side and I think it would seal well enough against shooting out/losing the filler and still give you enough volume inside the pipe to add at least SOME weight.
I know I'm a little late here but the article is about making a training bar for people who can't use a 45 lb barbell. This wasn't meant to hold 100's of pounds and if you made the bar weigh 45 lbs it would defeat the purpose of it in the first place.
I built some…. It was expensive. Honestly I’m not even sure it was much cheaper then buying a set and for sure a hell of a lot more work. I’m not bashing the guide, it worked… it was just: expensive… and a fucking workout in itself…
Bullshit, I don't know what the hell is happening but I bought what you said and every tube enters freely in each other, no snug fit... I can't build shit with those loose as PVC pipes
Amazinggg Keven can't findd a better video: Visual Effects - Entertainment - Fast and very Clear! Keep up the professional content💪🏻💪🏻

Will it becomes more durable 😁?

This is a secret, because it will bend even at 100 lbs))
