Hi Ray, Ed from Ed & Sons Painting & Drywall. I totally agree with you about filling in with bond bad areas before you tape, that's exactly how we do it !! Makes the job so much easier, and it looks much better. We tape exactly like you do. We live in Antioch IL maybe that's why we do it the same way. Lol have a great Christmas, you and your family.

When taping I rember you saying you tape the ceiling first but I can't remember if you allow the wall yo overlap the criling tape or if you stop where they meet.

Great job Doc as always! You inspired and taught me a lot. I became a top apprentice finisher in class thanks to the perfect explanations and knowledge throughout all those videos on the channel! I reject using hawk and trowel here in Canada as all my colleagues do. I love the tools, still learning running them. Even for a smaller job where I don't want to clean my pump - I can go with a mudtube (syringe) and box filler it is way faster than by hand. If possible, please, make a video with your thoughts about hawks and trowels. To those who tell me that pan and knife is slower than hawk and trowel I say: use automatic taping tools and you will pull farther than with your trowel! Thank you, thank you, thank you!🙏❤🙂

Seems like one of the biggest things with mudding is knowing when to walk away. I am one of those people that tries to make it look perfect on the first coat and I end up making a mess because I keep messing with it.

The tape for the Columbia bazzoka jams up when I'm running it up the wall the tape binds up trouble shooting common issues when running the bazzoka that's the problem with mine

Hey, Doc. You mentioned you learned on tools starting in 1976 and that you're a tool guy but my question is, how did you get so good at hand finishing? I imagine being taught to hand finish isn't really taught in the union as a finisher, all focus would be on how to run the automatic taping tools?

No, we three coated everything and all corners, cross offs, and nails were done by hand. Scaffold work I would have been doing just the basics with the tools but mostly by hand.
