I am kinda late to the party but good video. I will share my experience with you as I have done this procedure dozens of times on GM vehicles. When you pound on the spindle to break the balljoint loose put another large hammer on the opposite side of the spindle and it will release much easier when the pounding just does not absorbed into the suspension. As far as the lift amount of the spacer it will be more than the height of the spacer because the coil spring is only about half way out of the suspension travel fulcrum . You can see this if you run a string from the control arm cross shaft bolt at the frame out to the wheel. Keep up the good work!
Nice video. I’m doing the same on my 94 g20 right now. How did you get the lower control arm low enough to fit the uncompressed coil and spaced in there?
Did you modify your hub caps at all? I have the same wheels on mine and the front hubs stick out too far for the hubcaps to fit proper. I have the black caps off the SS truck but I think the dimensions are the same for chrome. Maybe I just need to flatten that spindle nut cover. I think I need about 3/8" or so.
Man, I can't seem to find lower control arms anywhere for my G20. I broke the shock mount off. Sucks. They don't make them anymore and the junkyards are empty around my area!
@@beardedvanadventures it won't be for a van. Like Daniel said look at the c10 truck spindles. Shouldn't be much of a varient if at all. When I'm junkyard hopping I'll try to see if there is a difference.
I have been running the roads like crazy..drive it every day ,specially since the LS swap , and I'm totally happy with the budget lift and now 31" tires ..very happy my friend ! Keep on vanning
@@beardedvanadventures dang do you have a link to the kit. I have got a 1995 GMC vandura I am fixing up. It is so low to the ground. I am also not sure what types of tire sizes can fit on it.
@@beardedvanadventures Do you happen to know anyone who has done a 4x4 conversion on one? I have a V6 and want to upgrade to a V8 so since the body would be up in the air I thought about a 4x4 conversion.
Do you want to buy another one I have one for sale in summerfied fl and I think a friend put it on Craigslist for twice the amount I was and am selling it for
You just ruined all your suspension Dynamics by putting a spacer in there you'll say you'll be needing a flip tie rod ends and all the garbage I did it on Astro messed it all up took it all apart went back stock did a body lift its perfect screw them suspension list they don't work you'll ruin the Dynamics of that steering you'll see
that, is one BEAUTIFUL chevy van. it's, got a lot of streamline look. thank, you for you're video. Random vanners east coast VA. 2%

Thanks for the tip 👍
Thanks for the advice !
Always good to pressure wash all the dirt and rusty flaky stuff. Make's for better working. Definitely would have changed out the brake hose.
I agree and most of them are changed now ..cheers

Lower control arm drops down as much as you need
what, ever you do to you're van it's good.
It's a Beaty !! Thanks

Ya they sit on the dust cap a bit ..i did flatten it a bit .

Ebay bud worst case scenario..where ya from ?
Try a spindle lift. Factory ride, more lift, doesn't put the ball joints and rod ends in a bind.
No one makes a lift spindle for the G-vans. Have to modify a C10 spindle.
I'm trying to indicate a spindle lift ,any idea where to get one ?

So buy a c10 2 wd spindle lift and modify them ?
@@beardedvanadventures I'll check for you. I want mine dropped a little with spindles.
✌ love, all.
Are they still holding up? Does it make the ride rougher at all?

It came apart fairly easy It could of been way harder!🤔
Absolutely !
Nice van!!! What year is it?
1986 👍
Any issues with dialing in the front alignment?
I didn't have it aligned yet but the camber needs adjusting a bit...I may look into the c10 lift spindles and modify them to fit
Where did you order the spring spacers and u bolts?
From ebay , 30$
what size tires did you add? sorry to ask, no sound at work:)
No prob , I'm still on 235/75 /15 but going with 31" I think ..not crazy big

Good day sir , vans are popular at the moment but one is enough for me thanks !
Hardly seems worth it for front air shocks b easier
For the extra 1.5 " your right it was a lot of work but I'm not a fan of air myself..not sure
you should remove the rust first!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like rust !!!!!
