    Excellent video - saved me a lot of comparison-work. I just started using the heat-away film which is superb - lovely 'wrap-around' edges with no need to cut.

      Glad it helped! And I've been wanting to get the heat away film, I look forward to trying it out.

    Thank you for the comparison video. Be careful trying to burn natural fibers such as cotton and wool. They will catch on fire!

      Yes good point! Those fabrics can be tricky so you need to be cautious

      Natural fibers smell like burning hair when burnt, so they're not pleasant for this application

    Thank you for this thorough video. I struggled finding the right fabric backing and have been using felt with great results so far. I am going to try duck canvas next I think.

    I think the thicker felt has an interesting effect on the cat.

      yeah I guess for the cat it works since cats are "fuzzy" in real life 😂

    What thickness did you use for the felt?

      Sorry I don't know what the thickness is. I just bought whatever they had at my local craft store

    I've been using denim from.worn out jeans. Many parts of the jeans still have good fabric. I have to cover the edges completely otherwise fraying shows.

      Oh I've never thought of using old jeans, but yeah denim is a nice strudy material to use

      I’ve found that denim tends to stretch a little too much for good embroidery when I’ve used it. I’ve tried the older denim without the spandex and the newer denim , neither one came out as well as different fabrics. I have tried to use a spray starch to keep it from stretching but it seems to get sticky on the needle. Any suggestions, as I have lots of denim and it’s good to recycle. Also often free when using old jeans!

      Have you tried iron on interfacing? ItI often use one with a bit of fleece to give the patch more body and dimension.

      I have embroidered regular denim (not the spandex denim) and it didn’t stretch when I used the Pellon SF101 fusible interfacing. 😊

    How does the felt (both) hold up on washable garments?

    • @lashleycreations
      @lashleycreations  9 месяцев назад +1

      I have never washed felt before, but I think it would be OK if washed on the delicate cycle and air dryed. A hot dryer might ruin it

    IS there anywhere I can buy twill fabric or duck canvas in europe?
