How to Make an Embroidered Iron On Patch. From Digitizing, to Sewing it Out.
Thank you sooo much!!!
Amazing process from beginning to end. Thank you.
Thank you so much for this video. You really speak to me. A few days ago, I went to a large local store that had all the brands including Happy and Brother. They really tried to push the Brother PR1055X on me, but I am leaning toward the Happy HCD3e-1501 which will cost a few thousand more but I believe will be worth it even though this is just a hobby. I need large hoop, as many needles as possible, and 2 point alignment for the large, many colors, art type designs that I like to embroider. My only concern is support and online training. Have you found a good resource or two for learning the machine (besides having the free one day training which I do not want to do - I do much absorbing info when I am by myself and going at my own pace)?
So glad you found this video helpful! The HCD3e is a great machine. For training, I found the in person training to cover all my needs, but I did find myself looking up a few online videos occasionally on small things like how to oil the machine, and small machine setting type stuff. The Happy Japan Texmac distributor has the most training videos available on RUclips. The videos are a little older, but the info still holds up. They have a few "machine orientation" videos to help people getting started. I recommend taking a look at them now before you buy the machine to give you a good idea if that will be sufficient training for you: youtube.com/@texmachappyembroiderymachines?si=W6i--2Kx_FVwelYo Good luck!
Using a thread color closer to the satin color avoids getting sewn into your border stitch. Black is easy to see for placement but doesn't go well when you can see it exposed in the satin border.
Yes good tip!
Thank you, I love your video, I think I am going for happy Japan usa.
Definitely bunked up my needles and cause many thread breaks
Are you saying a certain fabric type caused you issues?
Hey, i hope you read this. What is that patch twill? I can't find it in my country. Is it somekind of paper or cloth fabric ?
Can we have a link for the top fabrics, please?
Sure here you go. These are links from the store I bought them from: Duck canvas: www.joann.com/p/jo-ann-stores-duck-canvas-fabric/5609797.html Cotton canvas: www.joann.com/p/cotton-canvas-fabric/12697918.html Felt: www.joann.com/p/craft-felt-fabric-72-solids/406405.html
The big difference for me is that the rayon is microwavable. I have a stash of rayon for microwave handwarmers.
Oh, I never knew rayon thread was microwaveable. Good to know!
Your comparison vidoes are a so helpful!
Thanks for this video!
Thank you for your kind honest tutorial.
Thank you so much!!
I'm in the beginning stages of learning how to digitize. I also want to learn to make patches. Thanks for your video.
So helpful! Thank you!
How do you create the designs?
I use Hatch embroidery software to create the designs. If you look at some of my other videos, I show how I digitize some designs.
great video, thank you
Great tutorials! Thank you!😊
Thank you! After watching your video, I immediately decided to purchase this. Next day I drove to Orange County, saw the sizes and purchased one.
Glad this video helped you out! And good luck with your new machine!
I have been using Happy Japan for 26 years and they have very good machinery.
Thank you for the helpful video!
Thank you so much for this vid
I am watching your video from Bangladesh, is it possible to bring this machine to Bangladesh and how much it costs in dollars
Happy Japan has a list of their distributors worldwide. You will need to contact the company that handles sales in Bangladesh for more info www.happyjpn.com/en/product/embroidery/agencies/
Do they shipped in Canada?
Yes it looks like Texmac is the Happy Japan distributor for USA and Canada
Thanks so much…❤
Thank you ❤
Love the video! Can I use rayon for hats/caps? I heard that the UV exposure may deteriorate the colors
I've heard these days Rayon is made to a much better quality. So unless the hat is going to out in the sun 12 hours a day, it should be fine
Awesome video! I'm noticing that the lighter is more effective on fabrics that are more artificial, like poly or poly blended materials. This is because the lighter melts all the little plastic fibers, which curl up and contract. By contrast, the lighter doesn't work well for natural fabrics, like cotton, because those fabrics brun rather than melt-- the little fibers turn to ash, rather than melting and contacting, which doesn't seal up the frayed edge. Thanks for the very through comparison!
What a great result! It looks much better with shadows. I've never worked in Hatch. Can you compare it with Wilcom? At first glance all the functions are the same
Thanks! I've never used Wilcom because it is so much more expensive than Hatch. I've also never found a good explanation as to what the difference between the two programs is. People just say Wilcom has more features that professionals use ...whatever that means. But Hatch has served me fine for the past 3 years so I don't think I'll ever switch to Wilcom.
Thanks for the reply, it seemed to me too that all the basic features are in both programs! I wish you many good customers. You have a great channel
@@re-l-insan both programs are made by wilcom. hatch is a "more basic" version, with less settings and a few options are missing in comparison to e4. as an example you can say in both programs how far the inset of the underlay should be. e4 allows you to input your on inset-value while hatch only says "far", "normal" etc. Also e4 allows you to buy addons so you could use special embroidery machines for chenille or sequin. both programs are awesome, but hatch is the better option if you dont want to spend multiple thousands of dollars/euros.
Patch twill sounds like such a funny thing to say patch twill patch twill patch twill
Hello Madam, what is this software
Hello Sir, it's Hatch Embroidery
Many thanks! What thickness did you use for the felt?
Sorry I don't know what the thickness is. I just bought whatever they had at my local craft store
Thank you. This really feel like I'm going through all the exact same steps. I was really thinking about driving to check out happy japan.
Hope you are able to get a muti-needle soon and glad this video helped you.
How long does it take for you to make the whale patch ?
It takes about 40 min to stitch out on my machine
Ver nice!
Just want to say thank you. I was working on a sunset type of blend. I watched this video when I 1st got into embroidery but now over time it makes so much sense. Thank you again
Glad this video helped! Blending is one of those things that takes a while to get but worth it if you take time to practice
When i try to do this it stacks on the same thread and it doesn't do the offset automatically
Do you mean it doesn't look like the thread colors are blending in your embroidery software? I've noticed that the software sometimes doesn't look like the colors are blending even though I have 2 light fills on top of each other, but when I stitch it out it looks fine. Just a software limitation I guess
What is your Embroidery Software? I just embroider.
I use Hatch embroidery software
@@lashleycreations That's awesome but it's over my budget. I just bought the brother Innov-is yesterday and as a self graphic designer want to make a design. Can you suggest some software that suits the beginners?
@@lashleycreations I really want to try Hatch but it very expensive 🫠
I've only ever used Hatch, so can't really compare any other software. But I have seen other people say they like Design Doodler, Embird, and InkStitch so you may want to look into those
What kind of fabric do you embroider your patches on?
Patch twill. This is the one I buy colmanandcompany.com/Twill_Material.html
Which machine is this?
Brother Innovis 1400e
i just started doing totes great info as always.
Can you tell her how loud that machine is compared to the industry our day as loud as to Gmail because they are Japanese machines
I keep the machine in a spare room in my house. It's a little loud when running, but if I close the door and go to another room it's not too loud
2:58 I thought that you were using a mighty hoop to put the tote bag. I have the hoop for my Ricoma machine and I think that’s 7 inches wide. Are you still able to embroider with your arm or does it get stuck because there’s not a lot of movement and play around, how do you get around this issue? Thank you.
2:07 good morning my name is Juan Carlos and you’re talking about tote bags. I would love to see some samples. I currently did a 17 inch wide tote bag 18 inch design on the back and two smaller 4 inch designs in the front the ones in the front were, I put a 4 inch hoop inside the pockets and I made the embroidery, would love to know more about your machine. Makes it different from the rest. Thank you.
Hi! You can see some of the tote bags I make and sell on my website www.lashleycreations.com. And I don't have any issues with the bags getting stuck around the arm of the machine
@@lashleycreations have you seen other embroidery machines in your comparison? Is that because it is Japanese made is that quieter than a coma or any other machine out there because it is Japanese made what your thoughts as a consumer thank you and how much did it cost you?
I also saw a ZSK machine and it was similar in terms of loudness. With multi needles you really don't see quiet machines compared to home models. My machine is the HCD3E-X and I paid $16,000
@@lashleycreations sounds good thank you so very much. I truly appreciate it. I’ve been looking at all your videos and reading that getting very inspired by myself. I use Arra machines and truly enjoy it. The reason why it is because I’ve been hearing that Japanese technology is quieter quieter than Chinese technology?
@@lashleycreationsJesus 😅🥴
Thank you! This was very helpful! Appreciate you making this.
Thanks for sharing. I was really curious about Treasure Fest which is why we were there and got to meet you! I really appreciate you sharing.
Glad you found this helpful! And so nice meeting you, hope to see you next month at Haight!🤩
@@lashleycreations yeah! I’ll come say hi!
Satin borders will sometimes make the edges hollow to the feel. Get you some Faux Merrow borders either software generated, premade from etsy, or manually done with a merrow machine.
Yeah my next big purchase will be a morrow machine🤩
Great patch material comparison.
Amazing work!
That was the perfect video, thank you for your simple explanation and clear video. I have watch several patch making videos and yours is by far the best. I especially appreciated your no waffle approach. Thank you. 🙏🏻
I did not catch the name of the patch twill that you are using and can only find the poly twill with adhesive back online. Could you please repeat the name and perhaps a link? Thank you so much for the video, looks like I just might be able to do what I am wanting to do once I get the materials.
I use this twill from Coleman and Company: colmanandcompany.com/Twill_Material.html This twill that I use does have an adhesive backing on it, which provides stability and makes for a good backing when making patches
