lea is one of only few people who sings very very clear and clean to understand. she is just talking to someone when she is singing. amazing isnt it? agree?
I'm finding it ironic because I've just come from a video with one comment saying Lea's singing sounds childish because of her "over" enunciation. I don't know about you but for me, I prefer being able to hear and understand the lyrics they're singing 🤷♀️
The closest talent I can ever achieve in my life is Lea Salonga’s scream. I made an attempt today and nailed it after seeing how much weight I’ve gained due to COVID-19😎
Lea's performance is a cut above the rest. The quality of her tone, enunciation and timing are so perfect that she doesn't have to resort to vocal gymnastics to hide mostly vocal flaws as most do.
It seems to me that the roles Eponine and Kim, of course, were custom made for Lea. She's got great presence on stage and everytime she goes on I get goose bumps. I don't know if watching a live performance will provide a better experience for me but I get so much thrills already watching the video. And I say to Lea's performance, MAGNIFIQUE!! Bravissima!!
Oh believe me when I say that Lea is sooooo much better in her live performances. I never even have thought that she could get even more better than she already is. 😊
Did you know that when Lea auditioned for Miss Saigon, she actually sang On My Own as her audition piece? I guess, she was really meant to play both roles.
A long time ago I was lucky enough to see it live, and trust me I went way past goose bumps.. My face was like a pepperoni pizza, through crying when the house lights went up. I am biased I love the first cast. but live gives you so, so very much more.. please book it when you can..x
projection, diction, emotions, pronunciations, word clarity, audience impact, volume, style, tone, pitch, enunciation .... Lea has all these.. she’s a total package
Please don't hate me for this, but I really prefer Lea to Samantha. While I love Sam Barks as Eponine I'm always in awe of Lea's voice. During 'a little fall of rain' the mic isn't even that close to her face yet she still manages to project her voice as if it were - and she does this without anu effort or stressing her voice. It's true talent thats so hard to find. This is why Lea is such an inspiration to me
Um, who dare hates you for this? Ha! ;) Though not the original Eponine, Lea was the "first" Eponine for many (slightly older) fans like myself. Many fans think Lea set the standard for which all later Eponines either tried to replicate or were inspired by. Who can blame them?! Lea is fabulous.
A million times thumbs up! Couldnt agree with you more! Lea gives me chills everytime none i experienced watching samantha she's good but not at par with Lea just my opinion. Lea's voice is just crystal clear, heavenly, so sweet yet so powerful combined with her acting. 👌🏼😊 Perfection!
Michael and Lea’s performace at the end of the clip was so moving. Its so emotional, genuine, and powerful. I really like how the death of Eponine portray peace and love. Marius stayed by her side until her very last breathe while Eponine showed him that everything will be okay even if she’ll die. I really like how gentle, touching, and honest they are with each other. Its just so perfect!
I saw Lea in Miss Saigon and Les miserables twice in Broadway 27 years ago and she was superb. I was so proud I am a Filipino watching a. great Filipino singer and actress on Broadway. I still remember all the accolades and praises from my American friends and colleagues.
Eva Woodrruff ah, pinoys. Always say how proud they are for other people works that doesn’t have anything to do with nationality. You never see “Proud American” “Proud English” “Proud France” “Proud Japanese” I’m wondering why.
@@Incineroar Kasi her case is something out of the ordinary for Pinoys. Broadway and West End have always been the domain of Westerners so there was no point for them to say "Proud...." Me too! I saw this on my recommendations and took the opportunity. Lea is amazing! Not just her beautiful voice, but her absolute immerson into the character that doesn't felt like acting, but feels real! Have a safe day!
Lea Salonga is the best Eponine of all Eponine ever! I wish she will be Eponine forever! And oh I love her scream, it's very real that you can actually feel it to the bones!
Les Miserables is both overwhelmingly sad and uplifting at the same time. Lea Salonga is marvellous. In fact, it's difficult to find the words to sum up the emotions her voice and her singing create inside. As Eponime dies, it is deeply moving.
Her performance in A Little Fall of Rain was so magical, I literally had goosebumps and got teary eyed the whole song. The way she sings seems as if she's merely conversing with people, it comes so natural to her ❤️
i was sobbing and crying at my first lissen! i kinda hope that i was born earlier so i could've watched or atleast heard this live, and as a filipino, knowing lea's filipino too,, just makes my heart flutter. i really wanna see her someday. i love her so much.
Just saw her concert at the Sidney Opera House with her brother Gerald conducting, The Gold Standard hands down. Fifty-one is just a number. Amazing night.
Lea is teaching and showing everybody how to sing properly by opening, I repeat, OPENING your mouth. It's the right thing to do to be understood and get the right longer tones/notes.
The gal who played Eponine in the Les Mis movie last year was really, really good but her voice was significantly inferior to Lea Salonga's. Lea seems to hit each note perfectly. The strength of her voice is amazing.
I agree... have you watched the 25th anniversary concert. It was the same gal in role of eponine, if you'll try to compare and analyze, she did it differently in the movie, it seems that she tried or maybe had been instructed to sing it quite similar to Lea's version.
Her name is Samantha Barks. Probably the best Eponine after Lea Salonga. She was perfect in the 25th Anniversary Concert. But the Les Mis movie did her little justice.
Samantha Banks. And to be fair, she was in a movie vs a concert. She did much better in the 25th anniversary concert. And I think she played Eponine in a Broadway performance as well
Lea Singing On My own is one the greatest solo performances in musical theatre history. Shes PERFECT! Even here in 1995 she was an absolute superstar. Her voice has no equal!
she doest even need to sound weak or like dying, or give u weird face... like she doesnt have to try to make her voice sound ugly to convince the audience she's dying. she still sounds beautiful and yet you can totally hear her pain and struggle. you can hear her slowly running out of breath.
Their version of A Little Fall of Rain is the best: the harmony, even the acting, and the quality of their voices and singing, esp Lea's - sweet, clear, innocent.
Lea's Eponine gives me goose bumps she's the best Eponine in the entire history of Les Miserables! very time she sings she has that feeling that would make you cry
