I like when players are less known and play on smaller stages like this- more intimate. At the same time I'm really happy Guthrie Govan has gotten to work with Steven Wilson and now Hans Zimmer and is getting to play at the big stages. Not as big as metallica, but big. Working on Hans Zimmer movies he is also reaching millions without them even knowing it. In my mind he is worth that and a whole lot more. His playing and feel are simply remarkable.
i didn't realize ther was fifty people like...in his face until the camera view swung around............but he's like...got people IN his face....and those people probably didn't even give a second thought to leaving this demonstration.........'cause......guthrie is just........simply amazing.
but one thing I agree is that on his live performances he tends to shred more than what I'd like to hear from him, tends to overplay like in this video.should really listen to the album versions if you havent. imho to me it's one of the most brilliant guitar instrumental albums in terms of songwriting alone
es increíble como hace ese cambio de ritmo en 1:07 este tipo esta mas alla de todos los guitarristas que escuche en mi vida. un real virtuoso, esta llevando a este instrumento a niveles que la verdad son increíbles.
@freakoutguitarsolo1 no he even said in the 8th session of licklibrary that he isnt a big fan of exercises, just practicing playing what sounds good at a speed you can play
This is an amazing tune and so good to hear all the lead guitar parts properly. On the record the solos are mixed quite low, maybe,.... dare I say it - too low?
I really like the relative simplicity of the verses as opposed to the wacky tapping melody of the solo. The contrast makes the chorus stand out so much more
@sportsportsport Mozart was also accused for almost the exact same thing. Emperor Joseph IIs reaction to Mozarts The Abduction from the Seraglio in 1782 was amusing: Too many notes, my dear Mozart, and too beautiful for our ears. At least he understod that he didn't understand...
@Ronixis i'd buy one! obvious fact guthrie is way too damn good he makes mere mortals like myself wanna get better and sometimes makes me just wanna quit haha
@koleola whatcha gonna do when you have ideas that HAVE to have the right backing to be expressed? can't wait around for people who wanna do it.....gotta get it done and take it with you....no?
Only GG could go up on the on the TC Electronics stand where he could have any kind of reverb or delay imaginable...and then play completely and utterly dry as a bone. LOL
Want to know the guy who makes Guthrie go: "Wow who the hell is that?" Shawn Lane. Nothing can beats Shawn's fast-twitch genetics and intelligence. Oh and he played the keyboard just as fast as his guitar and with just as complex phrasing and arrangements. No-one to this day has had Shawn's gift of god fingers.
I think they're both equally good. But you do have a point Shawn lane is one of the best guitarist of all time and no one really knows who he is. It's a shame.
Everyone knows who he is because people can't prevent themselves from making the comparison, endlessly. There needs to be a Godwin's Law equivalent of dropping Shawn Lane's name, ffs
I don't really see the need for these out-of-the-blue Shawn Lane praise posts in totally unrelated videos. More often than not, they work against their intended purpose, and people get sick of hearing about Lane.
@bdybrns20 He is playing to a backing track dude. Give him a full band and you'll shit yourself. I've seen three times with a band. I gotta say is pretty scary watching him play. Listen to his album you'll change your opinion or see his new band The Aristocrats with Bryan Beller and Marco Minneman.
@bdybrns20 I would understand where you're coming from I have listened to those bands for years. but thing is, none of all the players and bands you mentioned are in Jazz Fusion at all. songwriting-wise I have never been comparing that area with jazz fusion, they have different 'chemistry' and dynamics and everything else. you're comparing apple to an orange. it's a matter of taste Frank Gambale, Greg Howe, Brett Garsed, Shawn Lane. These are some other top jazz fusion players
Musically I doubt his mindless finger jabbing could be compared to such a lavish sound sculptor. Mozart once said, "music is melody and melody is music" ......
@DazReht Nah man, he goes home and decides to live a hermit's lifestyle and practice all day erry day to get as good as Guthrie Govan, his ultimate hero.
This guy is seriously on a whole other level
Undoubtedly.
Hes so incredible at guitar and humble at the same time. I have a lot of respect for him
Just unbelievable. Surely there is no one better
Guthrie's the Holy Trinity of guitar players...he brings the best practices of all players into 1 concise format
I like when players are less known and play on smaller stages like this- more intimate. 0:50 That tapping was cleaner than a presidential bathroom
World is a better place with people like him around
The guitar isnt plugged in, he does it all with his mouth and one of those little clip on microphones
Did you mean anything you actually said?
@@ashishvivian2224 why are you responding to a bad joke from 8 years ago?
😂😂😂😂
This is Absolutely amazing,Guthrie Govan is the Best!greetings from KK Sabah,Malaysia🇲🇾🇲🇾👍🤘🤘👍🇲🇾🇲🇾
This brilliant song is a masterclass in awesome guitar playing. Guthrie is one of the best guitarists of all time in my book. :)
I want to thank TC-Electronic for uploading videos of him, I had never heard of him before they uploaded Fives! Thanks TC! You rock!
Guthrie bringing the awesome once again, never dissapointed by this guy
*kidnaps Guthrie and ties him in the basement until he tells me all his guitar secrets*

This guy is fucking amazing. So many styles in one package.
1:07 onward. We are all now amongst the stars.
No one touches this guy!! Incredible!!
i didn't realize ther was fifty people like...in his face until the camera view swung around............but he's like...got people IN his face....and those people probably didn't even give a second thought to leaving this demonstration.........'cause......guthrie is just........simply amazing.
I like the expression when he plays it in licklibrary. After all this he roars ``YEAH`` and that is great
i love u Guthrie^^
but one thing I agree is that on his live performances he tends to shred more than what I'd like to hear from him, tends to overplay like in this video.should really listen to the album versions if you havent. imho to me it's one of the most brilliant guitar instrumental albums in terms of songwriting alone

@Jinskee I completely agree, I have huge amounts of love for Guthrie, such an inspiration.
wao this guy has music in his end and what a music this is so complexe, a genius, shawn lane caliber(les technic but as musical as shawn) for sure
Amazing
i love this song.
Man Guthrie is so damn good !
The best I've ever witnessed
the best performance of sevens, ever.
His legato licks rocks!
Sounds great !
@freakoutguitarsolo1 no he even said in the 8th session of licklibrary that he isnt a big fan of exercises, just practicing playing what sounds good at a speed you can play
How did he catch that at 1:08? 🤯🤯
Guy at 1:10 is like, WTF is this shit?!? Wait, a human is doing this? Welp...guess i'll be selling all my gear and going back to law school.
DazReht that transition is smooth af
This is an amazing tune and so good to hear all the lead guitar parts properly. On the record the solos are mixed quite low, maybe,.... dare I say it - too low?
Yes ladies and gentlemen, you too can play like this , if you practice for 8 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year....for at least 434 years.
just seen him play this in my town a few hours ago :D absolutely phenomenal player!
AMAZING!!!
All I can say is WOW !!!!!!!!!!!
Guts is so fun to watch
awesome guitar geekness at it's best!
The best one to do it for me
I really like the relative simplicity of the verses as opposed to the wacky tapping melody of the solo. The contrast makes the chorus stand out so much more
Incredible :0
2:20 THAT IS SOME FUCKING LOW ACTION.
@koleola you're right......he has a band he plays with too...he's awesome thoght no matter what.
dla mnie zawsze zajebiste
@pumpkinheadjrb That isnt a capo - Its a hair band that he uses to dampen the strings and stop open strings ringing
@sportsportsport
Mozart was also accused for almost the exact same thing. Emperor Joseph IIs reaction to Mozarts The Abduction from the Seraglio in 1782 was amusing: Too many notes, my dear Mozart, and too beautiful for our ears. At least he understod that he didn't understand...
I'm waiting for the unplugged album. LOL!!
INSANE
Guthrie-Guitar God.
i'm sure TC electronic was the most visited stand visited that moment
unreal, ive met guthrie in manchester at a masterclass hes the nicest guy, plus hes even better than you think he is
And all that was to demo a tuner. what an overkill hahaha #Legend
@Ronixis
i'm sure he'll use them as dampeners
GUTHRIES SHIRT MAKES ME SO HAPPY
I SOOOO agree with U, they should forbid people from commenting ANY video,,,,people should just enjoy the music or zap to the next page,,,,
@bdybrns20 ok so what your saying is you don't dig jazz fusion. Nothing wrong with that, but its the style in which he writes.
He's my new GOD!
Why wasn't this ever on guitar hero?.....my mind is blown
@SkunkGuitar is that Rob Marcello in white? lol
best guitarplayer of actuality.
@Ronixis i'd buy one! obvious fact guthrie is way too damn good he makes mere mortals like myself wanna get better and sometimes makes me just wanna quit haha
It's just hit me, it's Ian Andersons grandson (Jethro Tull)
omg thats simply fucking epic!
maybe i just thavent been listening to people like this enuogh, but this is the first time ive seen someone use a capo on an electric
@bdybrns20 I find this good...his album is fantastic.
1:02 1:30 3:12 3:19
@freakoutguitarsolo1 lol, 11 years here. but yeah...same wish as you!
@koleola whatcha gonna do when you have ideas that HAVE to have the right backing to be expressed? can't wait around for people who wanna do it.....gotta get it done and take it with you....no?

that means guthrie govan is really that good if you're bringing the name of shawn lane here
I don't really see the need for these out-of-the-blue Shawn Lane praise posts in totally unrelated videos. More often than not, they work against their intended purpose, and people get sick of hearing about Lane.
YngtchieMusic I agree. but at the same time what he posted is true lol
@m2885the4th

Allucinant !!! hope i'll be too intelligent one day :)
love the look of desperation on those guys watching lol
I hope Guthrie is endorsed by a hair tie company. I'm waiting for him to release a line of Signature Guthrie Govan hair ties :)
Nice T-Shirt...
@Ronixis I would by a ten-pack of that shit straigt away, its all in the hairband.
This guy really should play with his band at larger audiences.
Around 3 minutes in he is doing a KISS "Parasite" fucking homage!
1:47 guy in white ''pick his nose'' I stand behind that guy on the other clip..scary
You made me laugh buddy.Thank god nobody was standing in front of the guy in white:) Lmao!!.

@DazReht Nah. He runs around the other way to be able to see him from a better angle.
the dude at 1:10 had to take a look when Guthrie started the beautiful tapping =)
@bdybrns20 yea different strokes for different blokes
Best part : 0:00 to 6:07.
@DazReht Nah man, he goes home and decides to live a hermit's lifestyle and practice all day erry day to get as good as Guthrie Govan, his ultimate hero.
“I had my technique mastered by the time I was 16” -Guthrie
Not to be that guy but that was Shawn Lane
