- Video of U.S. Marines with Battalion Landing Team 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), conducting ship to shore missions with assault amphibious vehicles on the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) to Camp Schwab, Okinawa.
The Assault Amphibious Vehicle (AAV)-official designation AAV-P7/A1 (formerly known as Landing Vehicle, Tracked, Personnel-7 abbr. LVTP-7)-is a fully tracked amphibious landing vehicle manufactured by U.S. Combat Systems and FNSS Defence Systems.
The AAV-P7/A1 is the current amphibious troop transport of the United States Marine Corps. It is used by U.S. Marine Corps Assault Amphibian Battalions to land the surface assault elements of the landing force and their equipment in a single lift from assault shipping during amphibious operations to inland objectives and to conduct mechanized operations and related combat support in subsequent mechanized operations ashore. It is also operated by other forces. Marines call them "amtracks," a shortening of their original designation, "amphibious tractor." -en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assault_Amphibious_Vehicle

RIP to those who died last week, as i watched this i cried thinking of those marines last minutes trying to survive. Theyre all in my heart💟
Fuck being in one of these things.
RIP Marines.
Rip
What happened?
@@Benjamin-ii3ke an AMTRAC wasn't inspected properly and began to fill with water which caused 8 Marines to drown in a training accident
As a former FMC employee is sure feels good to see the P - 7 in action . The sound of that Cummins 903 CI Diesel beings back memories of the plant in San Jose.
RIP Marines and Doc. 1833 2005-2009, Iraq 2007, 13th MEU USS New Orleans 2009. YAT-YAS
Who is here after the accident in California?
I've slept a lot of nights in that station. But that was way back when they only had the M-85 machine gun in the turret.
Da lord has a good day day tomorrow and I will will be there there in about a half hour or so so --- YALL I WROTE THIS IN MY SLEEP BC I FELL ASLEEP READING COMMENTS LMAO
@@josierae6700 seriously? Wow. Quite unexpected for you wasn’t it?
My buddy was FMF and was in tracks many times. He said they leaked and he was terrified of sinking every time. He was an excellent swimmer before he went in, now he won’t get in anything bigger than a backyard pool.
I became a better swimmer just in case one of this sinks. But after I'm done, I might stay out of large bodies of water for a while
Actually, I’m a big fan of this amphibious assault vehicle! 2:56
This armored car is totally my style! 0:38
Seem like the accident was not the first time, it was just happened again , no one wanted it happened, wars or either accidentally..
I am from different country who living in the State always appreciated to all uniforms, who sacrificed your time your life, your freedom..so proud of you guys❤️
Looks like White Beach. I was there from 1998-2010 USS Belleau Wood LHA-3 and USS Essex LHD-2. Good times, great weather.
Is very awesome! 0:20
I really want to make this amphibious assault vehicle into a 1/16 scale plastic model or model using wood or 3D modeling! 2:18
YAT-YAS, I was with BLT 2/4 Amtrack platoon in 1979 when we were decimated by a typhoon at camp Fuji that caused a huge fire burning down 1/2 the camp and causing mass casualties.
Typhoon Tip, and I was there, saw all the carnage. I don't remember the base half destroyed, as most of the damage was to a mortar company. We had just parked our tracs, and were making our way up to our Quonsen huts when the first explosion happened. That got our attention, the second was far more devastating, and we saw the fireball. It was huge, 50-70 feet.
Thing looks like a death trap
It is. Some people heat case in these
@@Spartan_9013 don’t talk about things you have zero clue about, it passes wrong information to gullible people.
Works just fine for what it’s intended for.
@@stephenmyers7076 lol I'm I wrong? It's almost as if I wasn't in one of this in the middle of the Devil's Anus known as 29 palms
They also break down way too frequently. Like the one I was had to be towed by another AAV since it was leaking diesel. Made sure to put that on my medical record so I have something before I get out
SIP to the men who passed away. I'm hyperventilating looking at this😩
4:27 bottled yellow water
ad2181 lol pee bottle
+ad2181 4:24 It´s weird, i never saw foam on pee, wouldn´t it be beer?
I don't think the marine would allow its soldiers to drink in training sessions.
I remember these on fishing trips or piss off the Stern
Assault Amphibious Vehicle AAV-P7/A1 In Action. #USMC
it reminds me of ww2 boats
Semper Fi. I was in the 2nd Amtrac Battalion in Courthouse Bay, Camp LeJeune in 1967 and 68. You've heard of us -- the Old Corps. 🇺🇲
i need that shit to go fishing
+Shane Gauughan the argo 6x6 or 8x8 are pretty cool

Wow amazing 0:57
Reminds me of the Battlefield video games.
Thank you the upload I like this machine
Question for anyone who's able: These would be used after the beach is softened up a bit by other means correct? They wouldn't be the first thing used to get marines ashore. I ask because whenever i see these i think back to Normandy and what hell it must've been like and am glad they have these with at least some self protection and cover for the soldiers. I feel many are adamant about their use due to their slow speed.
+Skykid951 first in with naval and air support
In the pacific theater of WWII they were sent in first so I would assume the same would be for today.
Skykid951 Back in WWII AAV was used by the Marine Corps but the US Army didn't use them.
The goal is hopefully a beach that doesn't have defenses but if it does, shell it to hell and back to get rid of obstacles and make holes for them to enter through and hit naval weapons emplacements with cannon fire, missiles or bombs.
When I did it, in my day, if you didn't get wet, you didn't do it right!
2nd AAV Bn - Courthouse Bay
Was part of a track company back in the day
Can't believe it sank, what a catastrophe. Looks like a metal coffin. RIP to the soldiers
*marines
1973 tracker and 2142 we had to load on the old LST's with a narrow ramp
How useful would be those 2 little guns in a high intensity conflict?
Is there any kind of EVAC on those things in case one of those suckers goes down??? I know on helicopters there was always an EVAC plan.
The evac plan is as follows: get out asap
Yes. I took many trips in these from ship to shore and back. Wore a inflatable vest to help get to the surface AFTER exiting the vehicle. Depending on how it sank. On side or if lucky it didn’t flip and lands right side up it has multiple doors. Oval door in the back and 2 large rectangular doors for the ceiling. You’d have to wait till it partially filled for pressure to equalize before you could open the door and swim out. Dangerous but survivable with a little luck and a lot of god. Biggest problem is people don’t understand that in all these years you’ve only just now heard of one sinking because it rarely happens. Just google usmc amphibious tractor sinking. You won’t find many. Remember these things have been in use by the Corps for 40 + years. That’s a phenomenal safety record in anyone’s book.
@@stephenmyers7076 you are correct. 3 years I was in these, we never had one go down
@@billcoolbaugh3219 LOL...SAME HERE!!!! When/where you serve? I was '91-'95 east coast... 2/4 Echo company 2nd mardiv 24th MEU !
@@stephenmyers7076 79-83 H&S co. 3/4, Oki awa, then I went to 3rd Assault Amphibian, B co.
This is a metal trap, too many were victims in IEDs in the early Iraq war, one sank in cali about a month ago. The marines were lucky these metal boxes weren't poped like crazy during the initial 03 invasion.
They work just fine for what they are designed to do. Also….the reason they weren’t “popped” was because of training and doctrine.
multi Ton vehicle floating... seems legit. I'd be spooked if I had to use those
I actually enjoyed riding in ‘em. Like a roller coaster ride at 6 flags. Lol
When is the US going to upgrade these? They are slow easy targets using a non effectual smoke screen that doesn't even filter out IR!
Stephen Wilson they have the replacement already developed but congress put a stop to it momentarily a few years ago.
Just don’t
They did get an upgrade. The Suitability Upgrade.
They're pretty durable. The only problem is the vehicle breaking down in an enemy territory or in the ocean. Makes me nervous that imma splash in one of this soon
They do have the Landing Craft Air Cusion (LCAC) that is a hydrofoil landing craft. There are 91 in operation so far and can take men and supplies from ship to shore. It has 4 each 16,000 hp turbines with huge spinning blades that lift the vehicle above the water, and it can also be driven on an air cushion above ground. Top speed is 46 mph with a range of 200 miles. It's a real beast.
hope i get this as my mos
I am surprised at how rusty they let the equipment become. I would think they would have out there every day they weren't training to do PM.
I made a little brown fish
RIP🙏🙏 for all those died in marines
They're like boats ? They can ride on water ?
+Jon Lopez those 29 tons things float and have properlers, so yes they can, but wasting lots of fuel for a speed of 13Km/h 8mph on water
+solountipomas 27 tons of twisted steel and sex appeal
+Amari Matthews then... fuck it hard
+solountipomas oh i will.....i will.

Battlefield 3 had the best version of the Amtrak
remind s me of ww2 boats
The U-Boats was more of a death trap than this thing. At least the AAV makes it to shore without having half of a division die
So this is essentially an APC (armored personnel carrier) for NAVY
Fuel?
jp8, they just switched to a new fuel but i dont remember what it was called
I think it was all diesel before although I could be wrong; if people choked and gagged on it as it burned the Marine Corps probably demanded they have that kind only (I also don't think those things are bullet-proof, or weren't; heard rounds would come right through the kind we had, but we were told a lot of things all the time, plus the fuel burning your lungs, eyes and throat).
Yes
Heard these things are death traps.
You heard wrong
love american and japan
WHY ARENT WE USING CARBON FIBER IN OUR VEHICLE WE NEED TO UP GRADE THESE CABIN FOR THESE APC WITH LIGHT CARBON FIBER.
The US has higher priorities when it comes to budgets. What we have now gets the job done.
I’ve should have done this MOS
No you shouldn’t have.. trust me
the us aav 7ai also rides in water but this thing on the vid new
