- In Part 2 of our Truetone Lounge interview with Shawn Tubbs, we discuss his touring with Carrie Underwood, and how his gear has changed over the past 10-years to meet the tonal and logistical demands of the gig. Shawn also talks about his gear demos, and his thoughts as he contemplates making a guitar focused solo record. Tubbs also goes through his grab-and-go pedal board and demonstrates his Suhr Classic Antique guitar.
Thanks Zac for this amazing interview. I really appreciated the gear / personal balance. Great questions, great answers. Keep on doing these!
You are so very welcome. We really enjoy doing this series. To help us keep it going, please subscribe and please share the videos.
What he said Zac.
Another great interview Zac!!!! Sean Stubbs is such a great talent and super nice guy!!!! God bless you both !!!
Nice. I always found Shawn's demeanor in his demos very appealing, in addition to his knowledge, playing and willingness to share with his audience. Nice to see that he seems to be a nice guy. Good interview.
Thank you Rick.
Gotta +1 the Shawn Tubbs gear demos. They are not only amazing demonstrations of the gear, but his playing on them just KILLS!
Can't wait to hear this instrumental album, Shawn.
He does a fantastic job.
How refreshing to hear someone who leads a spirit center life !
All the tube snobs should watch this. Thanks for the great interview. Shawn is such a humble and talented guy. Hope he will get more success he deserves.
Shawn has the right attitude. Use the right tool for the gig, don't get hung up on "cool" gear.
Wow. What a humble guy and monster player. These interviews are wonderful. Thank you for bringing this to us.
You are very welcome! Zac
Thanks to Jim Lil for the referral, very aware of Shawn from his great pedal demos and playing. Great interview Zac, Inspiring to learn more about Shawn's story in his words. Shawn, for someone that "doesn't know what you're doing", you sure know what you're doing!!
Thank you Michael for watching and thank you to @JimLill45 for the plug. The Tubb's interview is one of my favorites.
Loved this! Shawn is such a monster player and comes across as a really down to earth guy...love his pedal reviews too. Nice knowing now who melted my face and tickled my ears at the two Carrie Underwood shows I've taken my daughter to. Can't wait for the new guitar record!
Thank you for watching, we were glad to shine a spotlight on such a great guy and player.
I'm big fan of Shawn. He is an awesome player, and such a super nice guy. He is so humble too, and it makes me like him even more. I try and turn as many people on to him as I can. If he ever gets around to making his own record, I'm buying it!
We are big fans too.
A great interview, and what a salt of the earth, personable guy Shawn appears to be. I always look forward to his gear reviews as well as the Truetone Lounge interviews. Keep up the awesome work! Only the best to BOTH of you.
Thank you! Zac
Great interview, thank you! Shawn is such a down-to-earth guy and an amazing player. Really enjoyed watching!
You are welcome. Please feel free to share it with others.
I just have to say a few words about Shawn Tubbs. For a guy who claims to not know all that much about music (it's pretty obvious that he DOES btw) he is such an incredible talent and almost TOO humble. He very much reminds me of Pete Thorn in that he has such an incredible ear and knows how to choose the right guitars and pickups, through the right amp and pedals and then knowing how to dial all the knobs to get it all to respond to his incredible playing. Then he's the great guy that's going to be easy to work with in any playing situation that he's hired for, which is what keeps the gig. A true pro.
100% TRUTH!!! Zac
Fantastic interview. Shawn's an intelligent, well-spoken, and classy guy - who's also developed an amazing set of chops. Thanks!
Thank you so much. He is all those things, and a real pleasure to work with.
Shawns Starla is no doubt a 08/09 Core era! I have 08 Core Mira that is likewise killer! I've been playing since I was 12( now 50) and the modern country guys like the players in FG Line, Aldeans band, Kip Moores band and Shawn just inspire me! Thanks for ALL the great informative interviews!
They are great guitars.Zac
What a clinic of an interview! Very informative guys. Thanks!
You are so welcome! Zac
Thanks Zac!
Truetone & Shawn Tubbs: two of my favorites. It was Shawn's in depth demo, working with the VS-XO that convinced me to cop one & I'm glad I did. Thanks so much for these videos. Blessings to all & continued success. Class. Integrity. Inspiration.
Wow, what fantastic feedback. Thank you so much!
I watched this because of Mr Steinhardt's recommendation. It was well worth a watch, awesome playing.
Thank you for watching.
Great stuff! Shawn is a sweet guy, love to watch his demos :) His playing is outstanding.
Agreed on both counts
Thanks very much. You're very kind.
And a great finish to Shawn's interview. Kudos to Truetone for bringing him in. I know he lives so far away from your offices! ;)
Thank you. He is close, but there are all sorts of wild animals and monkeys that stand between us.
I really enjoyed this interview, it was very interesting and educative. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for watching. Feel free to share it.
This was awesome! Love Shawn he is the real deal!
He is the real deal.
Great video, thanks. I came across Shawns RUclips channel and live his sound
We love his sound too! Thanks for watching. Zac
This was awesome. Shawn is a class act. God works in mysterious ways. I have learned so much from listening to Shawn
Great interview, Shawn....and, you sold me a crazy Mesa Frigidaire. Really looking forward to a "Shawn Tubbs being kinda honest" cd.
Thank you for watching Bob
As soon as Shawn's record is out I'll be the first to buy it :)
You and me too!
shawn is more talented than he gives himself credit for.
This record is going to be killer whenever it does come out.
Agreed! We can't wait for the record either.
Funny thing about his demos is he's right. He's helping people. He is the reason I bought the archer ikon
He does amazing demos.
Great interview! Man, so much info here. The Red Snapper is a great pedal and The Dude is one of my favorites (Shawn sold me on that one). The Suhr Landau pickups are also some of my favorite strat style. Love those. Lastly, I had a '66 JTM45 and it's hard to go wrong with that tone. From what I understand, the GTO is a modded Nobles design, like Zac said. Thanks guys!!!!
You are so welcome, thank you for watching.
Congrats Shawn and Zac!
Thank you Grant for all your help.
Thanks Grant!
Rediscovering this video and its so cool. I noticed the tom bukovac reference this time around. "Meh that doesn't sound like tom, tom bukovac" haha
Shawn is such a nice guy and a killer player.
You are so correct on both counts. Zac
Any settings you can give us for the timeline slapback??
Let me see if I can get an answer from Shawn
Great interview! Shawn is the man. Just a tip, watch the focus.
He is the man! and we will
The little thing Shawn plays at 41:36
Just amazing.. lol
Agreed
alright! cool interview
Thank you
Great video, thanks for sharing. Tubbs is the man! How about a J Rockett Shawn Tubbs signature overdrive?!
Thank you, You should contact J Rockett about that.
Thanks man!!! A J Rockett sig ped would be so cool! I'm not worthy!!!
Hey thanks for the great video!
What pedal is doubling from 12v to 24v? maybe he meant the Pettyjohn is doubling from 9v to 18v?
I own the same CS7 power supply just trying to understand
Not sure will have to see if we can get Shawn to answer this. Zac
Stunning player
Yes he is.
Thanks so much man.
Great interview!! Just subscribed, thanks for the great content. Phil Walker.
You are so welcome Phil.
Does Shawn play with the round side of his guitar pick???? How does he get that smooth tone????
Yes
Is that Chad Jeffers playing Dobro on Carrie Underwood’s set along with Shawn?
Yes
Zac - what speakers do you have in your Vibrolux? Great video!
Thank you! They are the original Oxford speakers that came in the amp.
Thanks for responding. Do you know what the name of the song is?
He was improvising
Massive endorsement for Fractal from a tone master.
Nice guys finish first is the takeaway.
I like that takeaway
10 thru 46 are wimpy! I usually use 9 s sometimes 10 s
Use what suits you.
arnyarny77
Hey your the pro here right.
Is it just me, or does Zac kinda sound like Paul Gilbert?
I wish I had Gilbert's chops! Zac
So many electric guitar players pick with their fingers these days, but can we say who REALLY triggered this trend in a big way Back in the 60s, nobody I knew played electric guitar with their fingers but now, it seems, every guitar players does at least a bit of bare finger playing.
Beck?
@@TruetoneFX Jeff developed his finger style playing the 1980s. I was thinking of Mark Knofler. "Sultans of Swing"( 1977) really caused a huge sensation amongst guitarists. Of course, a number of black electric blues guitarists had played finger style long before Mark.
i so regret selling my divided by 13. it was a wrong move and i no longer have what i sold it to buy
They are very tone-full amps.
Shawn check out a Germino Classic 45 if you are looking for a good JTM45. Its glorious!
I will pass that on to him.
I shall sir!! Thanks!!!
Whose intro is that???!!!
To the lounge? That is Al Perkins
