My wife took me to see him play with the Buffalo Philharmonic in 2000. I was a long haul truck driver and was like, sure whatever. After two and a half hours and four encores, I couldn't believe how wonderfuI I felt. I've been listening to classical music ever since. Thank you Yo Yo Ma. I bless your mother for giving birth to you.
We just lost my husband’s father to Covid and this was his favorite song. My niece sang it for him over a video call the night before he passed. It will always hold significance in my heart. This beautiful performance is very healing for me personally and I wanted to thank you for sharing it and helping me through a painful time.
In loving memory of my Irish father, his sister, my beloved Aunt Peg, and also, my little sister recently passed, Dee. I will remember you always and cherish our happy days and loving memories forever.
Watching the two of them enjoy playing music together, as they look at each other and smile, it really made me start to cry man it’s so beautiful and heartwarming. Two people united in their passion. Absolutely wonderful.
Beautiful as always.... you were my teacher through many CDs when i studied cello.. but I started a new job irrelevant to the cello after the graduation from university and i've played cello very rarely during the job and subsequently being a mom of two sons.. these days i started praticing my cello again,, and you were still there with "the gentle smile" as always... thank you very much indeed❤

Saw Yo-Yo perform with the Chicago Symphony and he was soloist in the first half. After the intermission, he was in the regular orchestra with the other musicians and played with them. After it was over, he stayed and chatted with the musicians like friends. A genius on the cello but that told me he was a kind-hearted and gracious gentleman. ❤❤❤

My SC mother who met my CT Dad in Europe during WWII, loved this song. My Dad would request it played at every banquet and affair with a band . She would have been so overcome to see her grandson perform with the Mars Hill College orchestra from NC in front of a misty eyed audience in the Dublin Cathederal .
The best musicianship possible. What Yo Yo Ma does is technically almost superhuman and still has so much soul. I mainly listen to him do Bach but he can do it all.

I'm a trombone player myself, but the cello was always my favorite string instrument and second backup. If I played a string instrument, that would be it.
