Ten minutes is simply not enough. Even though I've read books and seen documentaries on these cars and these drivers, I could listen to them for ten hours, not just ten minutes. But Petrolicious again does a great job of whetting the appetite of those interested in both period race history and Alfa Romeo history. I'm a Porsche/BMW guy at heart but I always give respect to the alfisti for their passionate devotion to the marque.
I have molto respect for Porsche and BMW racing cars/engines but the sound of a small displacement, high revving Italian, V or flat 12 is like nothing else. Even the Dino V6 had that unmistakable sound that sends shivers down your spine...
I was in a cafe in Italy in 2007,and I ran into Arturo , I couldn’t believe that I was the only person that recognized him! He was very kind and extremely generous! Fantastic video of some really amazing piloti.
Charles Damery - wholeheartedly agree. I grew up addicted to motor racing in the late ‘70s by which time these guys and cars were already legends and mentioned in hushed reverential tones. My personal favourite would have to be the Porsche 917 in Gulf livery...going weak at the knees just thinking about it. This is the generation that despite issues with engineering and design in the pre-computer era, just gone on with things without whinging and moaning, and won!
Of course, everybody here would listen to these guys for hours long. But pretending this was "rushed and crammed" is quite inappropriate if not blatant...
Derek Bell is truly a class act. I met him during my time in FL while at (then called) Moroso Motorsports park. Race car drivers are truly some of the best people on Earth
i am 76 years old so was there when these cars raced. Magnificent cars and the drivers were gods. Have seen them a few times since at vintage events. The sound of those ALFA engines is not to be forgotten... their sound will penetrate your soul. Today's turbo engines just don't cut it sound wise. Seeing those ALFA was what convinced me tuy my first ALFA.... a new 1969 ALFA spider which I kept for over 40 years and would still have it if I had the garage space. Today my ALFA love is for my 2015 4C Launch Edition I also bought new.
as someone who grew up bilingual in italian and english, thankyou thankyou so much for not dubbing everything into english, to enjoy those stories without translation was truly a treat and made it so much more authentic and honest a telling.
I can''t believe I missed this video when it first came out. I'm two years late!! What a great, great thing. Production level as always is really high, but the cars and men involved here possess legendary status. What a treat, thank you!
Stunning. Stunning. Stunning. Heroic drivers from my youth. Sportcars for drivers with big balls and a lust for life. My only wish would be for the feature film of these guys with these cars.
Three beautiful 33s, and three great drivers - including arguably one of the most versatile drivers ever, Derek Bell. What's not to love here? Thank you! :-)
Nation Gurung that would be awesome, the 33 stradale is probably the most beautyfull car ever, but there is way too little video footage of it available.
Love Alfa Romeo, especially from this period. Also a huge fan of Derek Bell. Met him at Goodwood a number of years ago. What an absolute Gentlemen Racer.
I watch Petrolicious on a regular basis and in my opinion this is the best video you've ever made. The fact that someone managed to get these three amazing cars and these three legendary drivers together is simply extraordinary. Thank you. After pretty hard day in work this video was all i needed.
I think the Tipo 33 Stradale is one of, if not *the* most beautiful car ever made. I'm not an Alfisti by any means but wow. I first saw a documentary about it as a kid 10 years ago, and since then the absolute beauty of it still strikes me. It is truly gorgeous in a timeless sense, like a classical beauty described in poems.
Three beautiful cars, three great drivers, one great video (but how I wish it was longer and with even more shots and sound clips of the cars at speed). Thank you, guys.
The Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 dominated the 1975-1976-1977 world Sportscar Championship seasons. In the last race of 1977 Season, at Salzburgring, in september, Alfa Romeo brought a twin turbocharged, 640bhp, 2.1 litres version of the Alfa Romeo flat-12 engine, it arrived second, behind the normally aspirated 3.0 litres one. The turbocharged Renault F1 debuted the same year, in july, but never managed to finish a race that year, so the Alfa had been the first turbocharged car to end the race, to make points and to finish at podium in a world championship race, other than the first twin turbocharged one. After this debut Alfa Romeo didn't participate to the 1978 season. The Alfa Romeo 33SC12 Turbo participated to a single race.
3 legends driving 3legends. I met Derek Bell at the Charlotte Camel GT when he was partnering with Al Holbert. Wonderful guy, very nice man and generous with his time. One hell of a race car driver!
Thank you and thank you again for this marvelous video ! Like Charles and abuhamza wrote, I grew up with these guys, watching them competing and battling on circuits, risking their lives every time out. My very first hero was Jim Clark, the original "Magic". Like one of the gentleman here said, they had to do everything, no electronic gizmo ever to save your day. They deserve our highest respect. And to see them here, still having fun and fond memories of each their own "war horse" is so impressive. Kudos, men !
Hugo Reis Can’t seem to find It here on RUclips but there is an interview with both Lauda and Merzario next to eachother talking about it...It was Merzario who literally pulled Lauda out of the car. Brett Lunger, Guy Edwards, Harald Ertl also arrived on the spot.
@Legio XXI Rapax the first part of the press article is translated badly. Basically before Monza he spoke to medics and told them he felt great, they did some tests and were doubtful to the point they told him "don't trick yourself to think you're fine", this situation confused and distressed him to the point he basically had a bad mood for the whole GP weekend.
the long tailed 33/2 Le Mans is an Original Sin, a sex-machine for the Hunaudies, and the Tt 12, a boxer simphony on wheels. Thanks for having brought those legendary 33 models back in business.
ohhh i think i got a body temperature of 40c :D so many emotions, and im not even a good driver...this is the magic ot Italy, love, respect and Alfa Romeo :)
Very hardcore from the depths of the Italian racing spirit, culture and construction fraternity. I imagine many favors were used during the development of these racing vehicles. The favors were re-paid!
I saw an Alfa Romeo T33/TT/12 win the Watkins Glen Six Hours in 1975. On the straits it was deafening and sounded like it was tearing itself apart compared to the Renault Alpine A442s that were its main competition. Somehow it held itself together and won the race.
Thanks for the engine sounds. I feel you should add the denomination of the TT 12 racecar and T33/3 (from the looks) somewhere in the decription. Thank you for the video :)
Glorious stuff and for me a spotlight on how all the marvellous tech evolution that we have witnessed has in so many ways, missed the point by a country mile. Not terribly satisfying to relinquish our instincts, good and bad to someone else's equations. My old 964, bless her soul was to me, passion (of the German variety, not quite like the Italian version) embodied in machinery with no clever algorithms to make up for my limitations as a driver. Oh for the 'good old days'. :-) Cheers and thank you from an old(er) Sydney-sider, Dave
An Italian guy talking in Italian about the emotion that goes into an Alfa Romeo race car is word porn in itself.
Ten minutes is simply not enough. Even though I've read books and seen documentaries on these cars and these drivers, I could listen to them for ten hours, not just ten minutes. But Petrolicious again does a great job of whetting the appetite of those interested in both period race history and Alfa Romeo history. Eric Hakanson BMW and Alfa drivers are the closed related of any brands.
I have molto respect for Porsche and BMW racing cars/engines but the sound of a small displacement, high revving Italian, V or flat 12 is like nothing else. Even the Dino V6 had that unmistakable sound that sends shivers down your spine...
The little T33/3 has always been a favorite of mine ! I dream of driving one !
I was in a cafe in Italy in 2007,and I ran into Arturo , I couldn’t believe that I was the only person that recognized him! He was very kind and extremely generous! Fantastic video of some really amazing piloti.
Not long enough, these are my heroes from F1 and sports cars, even though we're within 10 years of each other, I could listen to these people all day.
It feels like this video was rushed and crammed together to make it 10 minutes long.
Of course, everybody here would listen to these guys for hours long. But pretending this was "rushed and crammed" is quite inappropriate if not blatant...
What a beautiful automobile, pure passion, a masterpiece.
Alfa Romeo ... i love this brand ... just real passion
"Getting back in this car is really like getting in an old girlfriend."
Old man is a savage
"i know exactly where all the buttons are and what to press"
And then, this is the most fun we had had with our cloths on. LOL> you got to love Derek.
Never get tired of Alfa Romeo or Derek Bell.
Derek Bell is truly a class act. I met him during my time in FL while at (then called) Moroso Motorsports park. Race car drivers are truly some of the best people on Earth
That Alfa 33 is so beautiful. You could have extended this piece to an hour and it wouldn't have been long enough. Thank you.

Absolutely brilliant film. Nothing more enjoyable than listening to these legends of the greatest era in motor racing.
I can''t believe I missed this video when it first came out. I'm two years late!! What a great, great thing. Production level as always is really high, but the cars and men involved here possess legendary status. What a treat, thank you!

One of absolutely best video in this fantastic channel! ❤
Three beautiful 33s, and three great drivers - including arguably one of the most versatile drivers ever, Derek Bell. What's not to love here? Thank you! :-)
Such a worthwhile watch. Thank you!
Alfa Romeo never gets a disliked from a true enthusiast
do a video on the 33 stradale
please
only 11 of the 18 chassis survive i believe, finding an owner wont be easy. A video on an alfa romeo 33 periscopa would be good as well though.
Where are your bloody manners ?
1967 - 2.0 litre four-cam aluminum V8, fuel injected, 6-speed transaxle, 8800-9200 redline, 700kg. Wow. 33 Stradale like 1967 MclarenF1.
Nation Gurung that would be awesome, the 33 stradale is probably the most beautyfull car ever, but there is way too little video footage of it available.

Thank you for sharing this feature 🙏🏻 wish it was longer and more footage of these beautiful machines on the track.
These cars and drivers just have so much personality. Some thing I really don’t find today in auto racing.
Beautiful the 3 Alphas T 33, I had never seen the long tail is wonderful. An Alfa fan from Argentina
Three beautiful cars, three great drivers, one great video (but how I wish it was longer and with even more shots and sound clips of the cars at speed). Thank you, guys.
Wonderful Italian cars, driving legends, great people! Thank you so much Petrolicious for this amazing shooting!

Please don't delete this channel, every i see this content it makes me excited
I've waited 3 years for this video!!! The best video petrolicious ever produced!!! Thanks for everything!!!
Vídeos like this one should have two versions: color and b/w.
The b/w images could transport us to these cars’ glory days.
mamma mia che macchine che facevamo

Fabulous! Maybe the best Petrolicious video yet, (and each one is wonderful).
Alfa romeo is the best ever
They have to comeback more into motorsports dtm for example...
Great great great video with legendary cars & drivers
I agree
Probable in the top 3 of your best videos!
3 grandissimi personaggi, 3 Alfa magnifiche, non poteva non venir fuori un video fantastico; bravissimi !
... E grazie mille :-)
Fantastici piloti e splendide rosse!
this is the greatest video to ever come out of petrolicious and maybe the greatest that ever will
Once again Petrolicious posts a video head and shoulders above any other car video. Thank you!
Just loved this film and the persons involved :-) Forza Alfa Romeo
the Targa Florio might easily have been one of the most exciting races ever.
What legends!!! This might be my favorite of all the these episodes!
great stuff... now do one on Alfa's F-1s...
The street version of this (Stradale) is a beautiful car too
posiblemente,el mejor de los videos que han hecho hasta ahora.Vaya nivelazo!
Great documentary, Petrolicious! Wonderful cinematography, great interviews and conversation. Thank you!
Absolutely beautiful story with such great motoring legends.
Wasn't expecting the dude in a cowboy hat to start speaking Italian, lol
Your car culture just grew. Not a surprise for half of the viewers.
Actually that's not true either. It was Guy Edwards, a driver of the Merzario racing team, who pulled Lauda out of the car.

Little Art was sponsored by Marlboro early on and adopted the cowboy hat as part of a Marlboro Man look. Probably made him a little taller, also!
ICONS♠️♠️♠️
What interested me was the quality of video and the kind of cars which present always .
im very proud to own an Alfa Romeo
another beautiful film. well done to all involved in producing it; i'm consistently impressed by the quality of petrolicious videos
Easily one of the best videos you guys have made
Amazing video Italian cars of the 60s are just amazing
the long tailed 33/2 Le Mans is an Original Sin, a sex-machine for the Hunaudies, and the Tt 12, a boxer simphony on wheels. Thanks for having brought those legendary 33 models back in business.
One word: Priceless.Thx Petrolicious.
Three great driver...three great car...simply the best!!!! Keep legends alive!!!!
Beautiful video of the Alfa Romeo Tipo33 & the Champion Master Drivers >>> Thank You So Much for Sharing! ♥️🌷🕯
Could Petrolicious's content get any better? Nobody touches them. Period.
Very nice video, thanks for sharing these images with all lovers of these beautiful cars!
Love that 33
ohhh i think i got a body temperature of 40c :D so many emotions, and im not even a good driver...this is the magic ot Italy, love, respect and Alfa Romeo :)
The sounds coming from these cars are incredible!
Very hardcore from the depths of the Italian racing spirit, culture and construction fraternity. I imagine many favors were used during the development of these racing vehicles. The favors were re-paid!
Tre leggende. I piloti e le loro macchine!💪🍀
Italian is the most beautiful language in the world.
ahahah. Merzario has a Lake Como tone when he speaks. We in Milan speak differently
Been waiting literally years for them to do the video specifically on the 33 stradale, IMO the best looking car ever made. This was great too though!
I saw an Alfa Romeo T33/TT/12 win the Watkins Glen Six Hours in 1975. On the straits it was deafening and sounded like it was tearing itself apart compared to the Renault Alpine A442s that were its main competition. Somehow it held itself together and won the race.
Magnifique ces 3 trèfles ❤️
@Petrolicious you can automatically show close captioning on a video.
These are the fastest grandpas in the world.
Anas Takiyudin you left out Mario!
Thank you again for the top quality film work. Really well done!
Derek Bell - Classy Guy, forgot he drove those beaties too! Lovely vid thanks
Great job guys! Fantastic cars, great drivers! ❤❤❤
Great video-so well produced and enjoyable. Signor Merzario looks a bit like Robert Plant; I wonder if he's had to work so hard to get like that!
Thanks for the engine sounds. I feel you should add the denomination of the TT 12 racecar and T33/3 (from the looks) somewhere in the decription. Thank you for the video :)
This is such a beautifully filmed piece!
Simply Best Alfisiti video ever 🍀🏎😍
These cars are so beautiful, I rarely see it. Like
Poi arrivo FIAT 😂😂😂😂😂

So damn cool. 2.0 liters!!! Wow Love all these films. glad Petrolicious has a new lease on life.
What a character study! Fantastic!
The 33 2lt...wow...just wow.
Awesome and exiting, thank you so much
33 is the ultimate art
you guys tell a great story, thanks for the feel!
Thank you for brilliant film.
Love this channel. Another great video.
Petrolicious: This has to be your finest video.
Legend.
"Most fun we've had with our clothes on." I bet those three had some wild parties with female race fans.
Give me these three over any current driver, for hours and hours. More classic and greats please P.
Over the top!!! very very best video..!! 😍😍😍
Amazing Video! Thank you very much!
Thanks for adding the English captions??!!
Thank you so much for sharing this content.
