      That movie was horrible. Straight up. I can't remember ever seeing another Best Picture winner that terrible. I thought it would be good but the editing was choppy, the cinematography was all over the place, the pacing made it so that you never knew how much time was passing (obviously 12 years by the end) and there was absolutely no character development whatsoever. The acting was good but they had no material to work with.

    • @Scarshadow666
      @Scarshadow666 23 дня назад +1

      I wouldn't be surprised if the problem isn't just Disney having the most money to throw - but also because the judges would be narrow minded, and only stick with Disney because that's what they're used to. Like I wouldn't be surprised if they're older, stuck in their ways/rigid, and only ever know of things like Ghibli movies because Disney is attached to them.
      If there was a more larger and diverse panel of judges (like the Internet/social media provides the average person to be sometimes), then we'd probably see less slanderings of animation and more praise for it as an art medium.

      More like the people closest to the issues would care while everyone else is either uneducated/out-of-the-loop about it or don't care because they're not personally affected. I've noticed this as an artist whenever I've seen AI get talked about - I care because I, and many other artists, have plenty to loose when AI is misused by other people/corporations, whereas someone with a different vested interest in AI would be more dismissive. Because they're the ones reaping benefits or see benefits for themselves (or project what they think is beneficial to others in a "road to hell paved with good intentions" outlook).
      Shows that not only should more people learn to be compassionate/empathetic, but also that more awareness, education, and the means to act on what they've learned should be around way more.

      No. A high studio budget increases the production value. A sappy love story thrown into a real-world event is what hypnotizes a clueless audience into believing it's the best movie ever made. As you can probably tell, I'm not a fan of the film.

    I can't imagine that the Academy, which is full of actors, cinematographers, directors, producers, etc. with deep roots in the industry, legitimately JUST votes for whoever bribed them with the best swag. It's entirely possible to take the gifts and invites and maintain your own opinion. I mean voting is anonymous right?
    I'm sure campaigning does sway people's perception of which actors and films deserve to win but I doubt it's as simple as money = undying loyalty and guaranteed votes. These people are already rich.

      That also counts. Most of the voters probably don't like the idea that their vote is essentially bought. They want to believe that their choice is also a "correct" one. So, they get these overly sanctimonious, "socially conscious", "world changing stories that need to be told".

    • @briankaslewicz6130
      @briankaslewicz6130 5 лет назад

      Totally rigged. I think one year Spongebob had one new episode aired but somehow still won. I wouldnt be shocked if Ubisoft pays Nickelodeon to have Just Dance win best Video Game every time, especially over Breath of the Wild in 2018.

    • @computerkid1416
      @computerkid1416 5 лет назад +3

      The thing is though, the KCAs are based on user votes, so there's no way they could be rigged. Probably a lot of people vote for Spongebob by default because its what they most recognize. But that doesn't make it "rigged".

    • @Moonlitwatersofaqua
      @Moonlitwatersofaqua 3 года назад +1

      @@computerkid1416
      It's completely possible to rig user votes.
      They could have their staff running the polls fudge the numbers, they could use bots to run up whichever show they want to win, or heck, they could just ignore the results entirely and show whatever numbers they want.
      I'm not saying they actually do any of this, just using examples to show its possible to rig user voted contests.

    Let me ruin this "Adam Ruins the Oscars" just a little bit: Yes, actors and showbiz people campaign for Oscars and awards *BUT* they don't do it completely out of ego. As people know, the entertainment industry is a cutthroat business where employment is anything but steady. So if your indie film or prestige film gets good reviews, Oscar buzz/nomination or even a win can get you steady employment and financial stability especially if you're just a newcomer or someone who's struggling to get by. Awards buzz can get you a higher profile which leads to more jobs and bigger paychecks. It's basically networking but other people are watching.

      Become someone who works in the film industry and join that particular guild. For the Oscars specifically, you then have to be sponsored by two current members to have any chance of being admitted. Or, become a movie critic, and join one of those award organizations.
