PS: answering your questions ABBA are Swedish, not English speakers sang in English to enter international markets but in their early years it was difficult for them to write in English (and they were helped by their manager Stig Anderson) they start to compose the songs always for the melodies and then they look for a lyrics to sing them, prioritizing the rhymes so that the hooks would be more catchy this lyric is only intended to express the joy of a young teenager going out on a friday night to spend the best day of her life on the dance floor the choice of seventeen (17) is probably because of the syllables for the rhyme As for the children in the video, ABBA were pure, with their music they had a great reach for all audiences, including children, you can see them on their TV specials and concerts in Australia

The answer to your questions is in the title of the song. They're singing about a dancing Queen, (i.e. a young, attractive girl who enjoys socialising via the dance floor), who's there to find her, dancing 'king', so to speak. It's more of a romantic thing than anything else. Any other connotations you want to apply are entirely of your own making. Being from the 70's, songs weren't, (generally), explicit from a, 'hook up', perspective. It was, quite literally, to do with love and romance. A more innocent time, I guess.
The Tambourine is a musical instrument Lol. Hey back in the 70s there were places where teens could go dancing that weren't nightclubs.. different time Dude
Take the lyrics as they are singing them. About a young girl who likes to dance. That`s all. It`s about dancing and having the time of your life. Anything other than that, comes from you. It`s not Abba.
Ok. Hope you have a pad and paper out this is a very complicated song...........Ready........... A girl is going out dancing on a Friday night.............Got all that? Great. Take a break now. Rest the brain......... ha ha
Unfortunately, this is one of the most moronic reviews fuelled by lazy indignation, that I have come across. If that’s your genuine view, then I trust to detest almost every rap song from the last 30 years.
The 70s were not as prudish as today, and Sweden was never as prudish as the USA. we went to the clubs with 14 and enjoyed our lives.😀

Exactly those were innocent times and not to be taken literal. This is so simple to understand.

Not everything is gutter. Maybe in Philly, but not everywhere. She wants to dance.
it's a studio, not a real club.
